Improved Collision Impact Sounds

Suggestion: Improved Collision Impact Sounds

Improvement Request: Enhance the game’s collision audio system by introducing a more dynamic and immersive range of impact sounds based on intensity, speed, and surface contact type.

Description

The engine audio improvements in recent releases have been fantastic, making the cars feel more alive and realistic. However, collision impact sounds still feel lacking in comparison.

Currently, even a small tap on the car ahead or a slight side contact results in the same loud thud, which can be jarring and immersion-breaking. While players can lower impact sounds in Settings > Audio, this only reduces volume rather than improving the variety and realism of the effects.

Proposed Improvements

  1. Varied Collision Sounds – Introduce different audio effects for:

Light touches & scrapes (e.g., slight bumper taps, wall grazing).

Moderate impacts (e.g., side-to-side racing contact, rubbing fenders).

Heavy crashes (e.g., high-speed collisions, head-on impacts).

  1. Dynamic Volume Scaling – Adjust impact sound intensity based on:

Speed at impact (slow-speed contact should sound minor, high-speed crashes should sound dramatic).

Angle of collision (head-on impacts should be louder than minor side bumps).

Surface type (hitting a wall should sound different than hitting another car).

  1. Environmental Interaction Sounds – Introduce subtle sounds for:

Driving over curbs (a more refined audio cue for tire contact).

Scraping against barriers (instead of an instant loud thud).

Collision with softer elements (e.g., tire barriers should sound different than metal barriers).

Why This Matters

  • More Immersive & Realistic Audio – Impacts should feel more organic rather than one-dimensional.

  • Enhanced Racing Experience – Encourages close racing without excessive or unrealistic sound penalties.

  • Applies Across All Modes – Unlike car-specific audio updates, improving collision sounds benefits the entire game.

Would love to see this improvement in future updates!
