Essentially this games launch on PC was a failure. The support forum is full of many reports of people being unable to play the game, load the game, or even get past certain screens due to crashing to desktop.
There isn’t a way to log our crashes or even send them in, let alone garner any information from the crash on our own to begin any sort of troubleshooting.
As someone that doesn’t regularly purchase games for full price, when I do, I want a completed product.
This game is horribly optimized for PC and given the incredible amount of complaints from crashing I really don’t know what to say. Forza was always a very clean product but Turn 10 has really dropped the ball with this release and their lack of communication to the affected players.
I’ve repeatedly turned people away from purchasing this for PC, as myself and a few others with a professions in IT are unable to get this thing to run correctly. I wouldn’t want anyone to purchase this game knowing that they may or may not be able to experience the product they paid for.
I agree its very unfortunate. I feel as though they couldve released the pc version a little later once they had these issues ironed out. I dont think its all the games fault i believe this is also a windows 10 issue and its not really ready to be the games platform they want it to be (shocker).
I dont think the apex beta was that successful in testing for a full release game. With no multiplayer, nevermind crossplay how could it be tested. Then with wheel support being added a few weeks ago with a limited list of supported wheels, how could any sort of useful information be gathered. Ffb is worse than ever even with a fully supported wheel on either platform.
Its possible things will get better, but once again tgis doesnt help people who already bought the game. I have the game on xbox as well as pc so at least i can enjoy the game on xbox albeit with a controller and not a wheel because its just terrible. Its just another statistic in the list of bad ports between consoles and pc’s im afraid.
you would think that they would have released a hotfix or two by now… paid good money for a game i cant even play (seems the only solution for my issue is to uninstall avast anti virus, which i wont and should not have to)
Dude, the game’s only been out for a week or so. Full release always reveals unknown/unanticipated bugs, it takes a while to sort 'em out.
Also bear in mind that troubleshooting the PC version takes even longer, as they have to account for all the umpteen-gazillion different hardware setups out there.
There are many games I’ve had where serious issues were fix within a few days, even hours after the release.
“It has only been out for a week” is not a completely valid excuse when other experienced development studios are able to react to problems much more quickly.
I by no means expect every single issue to be fixed so soon after release, the general stuttering and performance issues I expect to take a couple weeks or months due to their potential complexity but things like antivirus programs preventing game from even launching, online connectivity issues, and DLC/preorder rewards not activating are things I expect developers to at least attempt to fix very quickly.
Users should not have to disable/uninstall their antivirus, return and repurchase the game to get their codes/preorder/DLC content to activate, use 3rd party audio software because the ingame audio sliders do not change the volume levels.
At this point to not have seen a statement somewhere saying “We’re working on a patch to fix some of the known issues and we’re targeting release of the patch in the next few days / sometime next week or two” is rather surprising.
Maybe if they would have released the demo before launch certain things wouldve been picked up and fixes couldve been underway. Its more than obvious why the demo wasnt released for pc along with review copies sent out when the xbox version was. These issues were known and the game was released anyway as per usual.
Every game now a days releases with issues im sure everyone has grown accustomed to this, but the types of issues this game is having are game breaking id say almost at batman arkham knight levels of broken. But once again i dont fully blame the game, i also blame the platform. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see how gears of war fairs in a few weeks.
I have a suspicion that the fact every game file is encrypted and must be un-encrypted on the fly, has caused extra unforeseen issues which in turn make it more difficult to bug track & fix. The encryption is needed to stop cheating and pirating but in this case it seems to be overkill and degrades the performance of the game. This is just my impression and may not be 100% true but ya gotta wonder !?
Pretty sure the reason we didn’t get a demo is because they knew how fucked the pc version is and the sales would plummet if people knew how bad it ran.
on the 23rd til the 27th I accepted the faults since the game wasn’t officially released yet and I was hoping and expected some kind of day 1 patch hotfix, some of the issues are small.
If you look at the Xbone Support thread they are having similar stuttering, crashing and visual issues that we’re getting
Game is absolutely [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D] which is a shame because when it works its the best in the series.
Honestly they should have invited a few dozen PC gamers to help beta test the game. Thats how they would have fixed the game. Maybe they did and somehow the testers didn’t have any problems but I doubt this has happened. I would have been able to help because i am experienced in troubleshooting and I have a COMPTIA 801 / 802 CERT. I also got my ECDL Cert last year.
to be honest I’m not having any issues on both the PC and Xbone
maybe I’m one of the lucky ones though
my PC only just passes the minimum requirements too
Run at a rock solid 75FPS on my PC. No stuttering or missing textures. Ultrawide monitor. Glorious spectacle. Only issue I have at the moment is the blurry photo’s. But mostly the game runs perfectly on my PC. A lot of people have of late had unrealistic expectations of how well a game should run on their less than optimal PC’s. I build mine properly, install everything in the right order and keep it well maintained. Many people buy theirs from a shop, have no idea how it actually works and don’t bother with any maintenance.
Now that’s not to say there aren’t issues, i’ve seen them with my own eyes, but people need to be more realistic, and realise if EVERYONE was having these problems the forums would be down with the sheer volume of traffic from complaints. Those with issues are not the majority, but they are still important. The devs will work hard to fix those issues because this is all part of Microsoft’s rebranding of Xbox and the Windows Store. They need this to work and will make good effort to see to that. So coming here and saying I want this fixed NOW, is not going to help as the instant response will be “oh, entitled gamer, ignore”.
If you’re having issues, firstly you should be posting in the support forum for your platform, PC or Xbox One, then do so in a polite reasonable manner with any supporting evidence you have such as screenshots or crash logs, which windows will be providing even if the game doesn’t. If you can add logs from monitoring software such as those provided with motherboards that will log CPU usage temperature, RAM etc as they are useful to the devs in tracking down errors.
The more people who do this, the quicker things are likely to be fixed. Good luck with your issues guys, hopefully they all get fixed!
But if you’re complaining about the left brake light on a Monaro being 1mm too high, don’t hold your breath…
I myself am not having any trouble with the game now. At first I had some serious stuttering and the game kept crashing but after a few adjustments to windows , installing the Nvidia 372.95 Quadro driver and adjusting the settings in Nvidia control panel for Horizon 3 and tweaking the game settings the stuttering no longer exists. I have the game locked at 33FPS. Also I built this computer myself from parts I bought online. I know its below minimum specs in CPU department but the game still runs beautifully smooth for me. Thats no reason to be so harsh to others that are having trouble though.
I think the reason we haven’t seen patches yet is because they are still bound by Microsofts certification process on the PC, so patches will only dribble out once a month.
If it follows the trend we will only see patches along side DLC releases, first one should land tommorow.
IMO the game was not ready and should not have been released
Telling people whose systems aren’t meeting the lowest recommended specs is not harsh. It’s a bit of a wake up call for some people, but it needs saying. People think if their CPU is under specced they can make up for it by having more RAM or a better GFX card and that’s just not how it works. That’s why they list ALL the components needed for minimum. But many people seem oblivious of that and come on here calling the devs all the names under the sun when it’s a problem their end. No amount of optimisation is going to help there.
That’d be a fair point if it were just those not meeting the requirements who were having problems. I’ve seen plenty of people complaining about performance problems who easily surpass the recommended requirements, never mind the minimum requirements, myself included.
