Hello friends! I trying tune my beloved Porsche 356 for myself. It is more for fun not for competitions. Target rating is D500, RWD. I need advice in tuning this car to slightly decrease its “features”. For example tail dancing. Is it possible? I use stock wide tyres. I think I should alter values for the ARBs and differentials. What are the optimal settings for the rear differential? Stock values is Accel 18, Decel 30. Is it good for such cars?
Thanks.
I should probably post some details about car build. All engine upgrades exception camshaft, oil and flywheel. Race brakes and springs+dampers, ARBs, 1st weight reduction. Race transmission, clutch, driveline and differential. Widest stock tyres with track widths. Front and rear wings (btw I use minimal downforce in tune). No changes in Conversion.
After some testing on the Emerald Circuit I can increased overall car stability. I slightly lowered ride height (two ticks from the left slider side), stiffened front springs (+10). Then increased front rebound (+10) and bump stiffness (in fact I slightly lowered bump from the default). After all I decreased acceleration for the rear diff to 5%. Deceleration reduces too (25%).
Now I have more stability in turns, lesser drifts but still have some rear sliding in slow turns when braking is not enough for next turn.
P.S. After some learning and testing I made my first tune. It is still RWD with rear engine. So some features are still here. Side sliding, some inertia in S-type turns… But it feels more comfortable for me than default one.
Give this tune a try and see if you like it. I whipped it up today after I saw your post. Back in FH4 I road-raced this car at near-stock rating with just chassis upgrades, where it was a nice little ride and handled quite pleasantly but of course had no speed. This is a try at D 500. At 202 hp it’s not veins-in-the-teeth powered up but runs quick enough.
With a rear-heavy old classic like this Porsche, I think you have to accept that it’s going to be loose on the rear end no matter what you do. If you try to clamp it down, you end up with front-end understeer, a worse problem, and I fought back and forth on this car with that issue. While I can’t say I’m delighted with this effort I’m reasonably satisfied with it, and I’d race it myself. It gets around Plaza Azul in 1:35, more or less, and around Tierra Prospera (more of a handling course) in about the same time or a couple seconds faster. That’s about where the other D500’s that I race end up: Cortina, Lotus Elan, etc.
I took a slightly different approach than you did with the upgrades. This is a road-race tune, with race springs and dampers. If I want to go rallying I just set the springs to max travel, maybe soften 'em up a bit, and have at it.
Here’s the share code: 121 256 122. If it’s not quite right for you and you want to tinker with it, let me know in this thread and I’ll open-source the upgrades and the tuning in a reply. (Locked tunes! Bah!)

Any wishes for visual features? Like which rims, bumper deletes or hood catches?
I use this car regurlarly as an A800 online car and could surely build a RWD D500 one.
Hello if you want I can make a tune for you just tell me what you goal is whit the car/tune
Sorry friends, I was some busy. I can share the result of my tests. But I think it is not good idea. The tune was made for my driving style. Too much understeer probably. Anyway…
