Hey. Im having problems tuning. Iv made several rwd cars and im having trouble turning. They seem to understeer and I have to power to turn them but on some corners it still goes straight on. And others the rear just comes flying round. What am I doing wrong? My arbs are set with softer fronts than rears. Softer rear springs and about 20% acc and 15% deacc on my diff. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
If the car isn’t turning off throttle and your going slow enough toy make the corner then I would turn the decel on the diff down. However this will vary from car to car, if it’s front engine or mid or rear the settings can all be different. Also with out knowing what, when, where the car isn’t turning will make it hard to decide. Dose it understeer on turn in, or through the center of the corner or at exit? All of these can need adjustments of different parts, but I would start with the diff.
Too much power ?
Im tuning a c class datsun. It turns in alright its just midway and exit. When I let off and go round the corner it understeers, the hotter I come into the corner the worse it is. Under acceleration it then turns after the initial turn in but if its fairly tight corner it will still understeer but sometimes the rear snaps. Im trying to tune it for the full circuit of that new Toyota track.
If I upload it will you be able to try it and tell me what it needs and why. Im getting mid 1.33 round the full circuit of long beach.
Its now on there. Called c class tune
I can give it a shot.
The car sucks and requires patience to get through mid corner. The tune will only help so much.
I’ve tuned this car and in order to get rid of the mid corner snappy feeling you have to tighten the car up which causes understeer. Since the car has a super short wheelbase and there’s hardly any weight in the rear the car will break traction because the understeer you added is causing you to turn in more which again causes a different kind of instability.
I went with super soft rear springs in comparison to the front springs since I’m better at controlling understeer than mid corner drift overseer.
Had mine running low top 100s-150s at the shorter sebring that has the two long straights and was an absolute pain. It was fun blowing the doors off everyone down the straights which I guess is a bright spot lol.
Okay well first off you should be off throttle until you reach the apex of the corner then start feeding in the throttle. So it sound like your just going to fast, then your jumping back on power and sometimes the back will snap. If your on Long Beach some of the corner exits are off camber witch means the road falls away from under the car and makes it much easier to loose rear traction. You may have to much power or need to adjust the diff. Also it could be a camber issue.
Any corners giving you more trouble than others?
All of mine are in R class but I found that the higher power and torque I have the more i need to adjust the rebound and bump accordingly so that the car pushes front into grip as well as the rear. I run diff at 0 for both front and rear so I can power thru more turns without causing slip outs as much. Also you should adjust ur camber, toe, and caster so that ur car has a better turn radius with acceleration on exit for the straights.
Damping baffles me. I just stick my cars at 3 front n rear bump n 7.5 - 8.5 on the rebound. Or I might be getting them round the wrong way. Cant remember without looking at it.
It’s just a touch slow on turn in so I would go down on the diff decel until it goes away. Other than that I had no issues with it good build and only lost the back of the car over the curbs a bit when you hit them wrong.
Thanks for trying it. I downed the deacc on the diff before uploading it. So should I down it more or should I give it a bit of toe to help turn in?
Drop the decel down two and try it. It dosent need much and on most of my FR cars I’m between 5-20 and avrage 8-10. Shorter wheel base cars tend to rotate quickly so 10-12 may just do it.
If it understeers soften front /stiffen rear n opposite for oversteer easy as that…
