I feel cheated as a Deluxe Edition owner

Imagine subscribing to a magazine that you want to own every issue of for a full year, but they release additional side magazines as a suprise you must also pay for. They have never told anyone about these releases beforehand and this is the first year they’re doing this.

See what I mean?

Yeah, you’re not entitled to those, you subcribed to get one magazine, you get that one magazine, if you want extra, you pay for it.

A. everything has to start somewhere
B. Regarding the actual thing you made the example about, this isn’t close to the first time they did this.

What, like an Annual in comics that you have to pay for because it’s not part of the subscription? End of the day, you’re told at the beginning what you’re going to get. They are well within their rights to add extra content. You are well within your rights to decide whether or not to purchase the content. No wool has been pulled over anyone’s eyes. There were Car Packs in FH4, granted not this many, but it’s not the first time.

I can agree to disagree with you, as you can with me.

No one force you to buy them? And its not like you’ll left out because you didn’t bought the dlc?

as I noted, this completionist/FOMO thing is used to get people to spend money and it’s questionable, at best, but no-one has to buy the things and no-one really misses out on anything - it’s just a game

Please stop making analogies, you’re bad at them.

I can understand some of the arguments, as I was a buyer of a codemasters dirt rally ultimate edition once that came out almost a year after the last dlc and still not all dlc were included in the ultimate game of the year edition of that game. Much bigger problem was then, that the games for windows server shut down only a few weeks after my purchase. I owned the game on steam, had paid some serious amount of money for it and was not able to play.

Luckily I was so p…ed off of the missing dlc content, I didn’t bought that crap at the time, because a little while later every owner of the original game or its different builds got a free steam version stripped of the “Games for Windows - Live Service” and had included all ever available downloadable content.

But we get from Forza Horizon only a Deluxe Edition, not an ultimate edition or kind of that. They clearly stated, what will be part of the different editions and that future dlcs will not be included free of charge.

So you really get what you paid for.

And I am happy that Microsoft did not the same as Ubisoft or other companies selling battle passes, where you buy cars with real money only to have the possibility to buy the car in the game a second time with ingame currency. At Microsoft you buy the car dlc with real money and get the car for free in the game without “paying” again. But at Ubisoft or Electronic Arts you pay with real money to only have the possibility to buy the car in game.

I don’t know exactly how the situation is for Gran Turismo, I think it is most likley as the Microsoft way with the free playlist cars that are appearing monthly for free - I believe the number varies between 3-4 cars each month/update?

Some said, that with the Microsoft reward system some may get enough points to change them to coupons that can be used to buy some of these car packs, but I only tried it once for take part in a lottery for a xbox series S - so I can rather confirm nor deny that possibility …

Prior to my involvement with FH (starting with 4), my main gaming focus was FPSs, back when they actually had decent single player campaigns. So I’d drop $50 USD for the new COD, Halo or whatever & hope to have enough gameplay in the campaign to last more than one weekend. I spent some time in multiplayer on line, but that really wasn’t my focus.

Fast forward to FH5: I purchased the premium edition & have played since day 1, received the WP, two expansions & car pass cars, which is what I paid for & expected. Some thousands of hours of gameplay later, no other game I’ve played has provided the ratio of return on my initial monetary investment & enjoyment than this one. Sure, there have been other games that I’ve spent a lot of time in since the earlier days (GTA, theHunter: Call of the Wild, RDR, etc) but none close to the amount of time in this game.

The fact that they continue to give us free cars every week on top of the occasional car pack says a lot to me about the value of the game as a whole. The nice thing about the car packs is that I obviously choose the ones I want & just pass on the rest, which I have. The amount of time it takes to get these cars scanned & properly into the game is pretty staggering to me considering the number of cars available, so I have no issues with them charging for the occasional content, which again, I’m under no obligation to purchase. Just my 2 cents fwiw.

Exactly. There’s nothing to complain about here.

I totally agree with you about FH, and the value for money spent. I go all the way back to FH1 and have loved each and every one of the FH games. While I still prefer FH1, I still play all of these games, including the F&F demo game, with great regularity. Sometimes I race, other times I do the stunts, but often I just drive around enjoying the roads and the scenery while exploring all the nooks and crannies in the games. I am still finding details for the first time in those areas of the maps that I suspect a good number of other players never find. I have more that gotten my money’s worth from each of the Horizon games.

Also don’t just complain about your bad financial decisions. If i were you, ill save the money and then buy the premium edition instead.

The cost difference literally less than 10$ and you recieve more than you get on deluxe. on steam at least, they put the comparison tab between standard, deluxe, and premium edition. So next time, do basic research before buying games especially bundles, so you didn’t feel cheated about pricing.

And if you need some analogies, then ill give it to you. Instead of paying monthly magazines subscription, why didn’t you buy the annual pack that come with the special editions instead? Wouldn’t that save your money more and you get more stuff?

You’re the one that spend your money to them, you agreed to buy it, hence by all means, if something didn’t sit right with you after your purchase, then it’s all on you, not on them.

Might want to check your facts, as they’ve done this in every single Horizon game.

I don’t even understand any of the complaints you made. The Deluxe Edition doesn’t even include the expansions or Welcome Pack, so there there is no world in which anyone could reasonably expect it to include absolutely everything.

Ig he’s just mad about his bad decision lmao, imagine buying middle priced bundles and expecting it as good as more premium or even including more

A big reason as to why i agree with the OP more (although i dont fell cheated but i do see it as a bit of a money grab) is cause each series is an opportunity for 10 “new to fh5” cars but looking back most series only offer 4-8 “new” cars. Now i get some cars are exclusive to only the playlist or wheelspins but those cars that were released with the game from the start should be offered in the; trail, season champ, or other challenges that are posted in the playlist. The “NEW” cars should be those that were not available during the games release.

Sidenote: i purchased the premium edition and i have bought all the cars packs not cause FOMO or the other stupid reasons but cause when will i get a chance to even see most of these cars in person. So for me i dont mind a couple bucks here and there.

Exactly. I got a hundred dollar Xbox gift card for my Birthday two years ago, and mostly wanted to use it on Forza Motorsport (didn’t because it was terrible) and Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown (which keeps getting pushed back). As a result, I’ve already used 50 percent of this gift card on the DLC packs alone.

The others can get their jollies off on feeling high and mighty because they have more money and “they read”, but I personally think all this self-righteous behavior is pretty gross and ignores a lot of fundamental problems. I know for a fact if I didn’t have this gift card, the amount of DLC packs would be pushing my monthly budget to its limit. Not to mention for a fact, I know most of clientele is older here, so alone me to speak for all my fellow Zoomers who are all either unemployed or heavily strapped for cash lately due to the terrible job market right now. 5 to 10 bucks a month stacks up quickly when you don’t have a lot of cash to throw around.

Given I was one of those who threw out an opinion & definitely fall into the “older crowd”, I’ll just say my comments regarding purchasing games & content were in no way meant to be disrespectful or thoughtless regarding others circumstances or life challenges; if it came across that way, I sincerely apologize.

Rest easy, Bravo. Your comments are some of the better ones I’ve read. There are others being way more belligerent. I can understand slightly if OP isn’t doing a good job defending himself, in which he’s digging his own grave there, but others I think in this thread I think really need to consider that paying an additional 50 bucks to a 100 dollar game that’s almost three years old is a bit of a big ask for some. Especially considering Horizon 4 only had one DLC pack outside the Ultimate Edition versus Horizon 5 that’s had several and counting.
