I purchased Forza 7 for Windows 10 but every time I attempt to launch the game it says “Thank you for installing Forza Motorsport 7. We’re sorry, but it looks like you may be unable to launch the game due to the following: - D3D12 Support Required (Code AP501)”. I have tried troubleshooting it but I only get solutions for Forza 6 Apex, which I have tried but the solutions don’t work. I have updated both windows and my drivers, as well as checked directx to make sure I am running on the right one.
First of all, what graphics card do you have? is it directx12 compatible?
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti, It says that it should be compatible with Directx12.
It says DirectX11. Page Not Found | NVIDIA
and your card has 1GB VRAM? absolute minimum System Requirement is 2GB VRAM and a NVIDIA GTX 650.
Anyway you can check your DX version in Nvidia Control Panel at the top select “Help” - “System Information” , Direct3D API version will say 12 because Windows10 has that built in, but take a look at the “Direct3D feature level” , if this says 11, then your card can handle max DX11.
the 560ti IS dx12 capable, its just NV’s implemention of it on the 400/500 series of cards is wonky at best, and is not guarnteed to work, they have done nothing to update in ages.and they were a year late in bringing it out for those cards anyway.
I agree about the 1GB VRAM though.
EDIT:Actually it took them 2 years not 1 to bring it out.
EDIT 2:Looks like you are out of luck OP as you need Tier 2 Resource Binding on DX12 to make Forza run.Which the 400/500 Fermi cards do NOT support, seems they only support Tier 1.
Glad I only tried the Free Demo, I’m running the same card (but 2x SLi) only thing holding me back is the Resource Binding. Oh well, guess I’ll launch on my Xbox instead…
My system is pretty powerful, save for the Graphics, it’s said to get locked out due to something so little.
Even with something decent you can some times get a error like this one Horizon 3 crashed and when I launched the game again I got this
So some times there is no logic and Bat droppings just happens
