Sorry to disagree but I’ve got all the tunes that I can try - Including the KenBlockSohn one - it must be just a lack of talent and the fact that I can’t set the wheel up to the way I need it for any sort of drifting vs a controller. Like I’ve said before - controller is just impossible for me - I’m used to driving a car with a wheel like you do IRL. Why has the wheel always been worse than a controller - especially now that you can’t even adjust the rotation angle like you could in FH4 ?
I’m by no means a natural drifter, but once I stopped flooring it and enterered the zone at lower speeds with a high power car, it got easier to control and can 3 star most zones with ease.
Will never get on the leader boards, but don’t need to personally.
Ha, just noticed you prefer wheel to controller, so ignore the above.
Thanks for noting the Wheel issue.
Yes - I’m on Premium pre-order so got the FD pack - but still no joy with those either.
Only one I can just about get anything done in is the #43 on AWD but still never getting close to greatness ( even Mediocere-ness is a long way away ).
Just have to suck it up and carry on…
Needs to be addressed - as Iv’e noted to the Devs numerous times.
Wheels and controllers should be on a even keel. KB - no place for that unless it’s on the same playing field as the others.
Cheers for the support - no worries about my mate though - he’s always been better at everything so I don’t expect anything else than to be beaten by a newcomer even though I’ve done all Forza stuff for years including the past titles since starting with FH3 when I first got an Xbox and going back to all older ones that I could - he’s just a Jammy Git…
I’m on the total opposite, the drifting in this Forza is awfully easy… drift zone scores are a JOKE… you can get the 3 stars score with almost any car, very lame.
Btw try with advanced steering, it could be easier for you I guess, and if you need more points then remove the traction control assist.
The key overall is to snake around the track all the time and not wait only for the turns. The faster you go and more points you get, at least in theory, I’m starting to think that speed doesn’t matter anymore like in FH4.
Far as I can tell, it’s the same as FH4 so, the faster you go, the higher the score…provided you also manage to maintain acute car angles. However, managing high speed and car angle is difficult but no more difficult or easier than FH4, to my mind anyway. However, scoring was changed with a recent update so it’s harder to get higher scores on Road zones (most I am around 30k lower) but easier on Dirt zones
Totally agree. I could never drift in FH4 and largely gave up after a string of disappointments; I got one three-star at the Horizon Doughnut Drift Zone and that was more of a lucky powerslide. But while reading up on how to manuever through a recent FH5 broken weekly Festival Playlist, I saw a brag about a Hoonicorn Gymkhana 10 Mustang drift tune. I figured I’d give it a try and WOW what a surprise. Coming out of the Baja Outpost I turned off all assists, ran manual in third gear and almost immediately got a 10-skill-point score (62,500 using the x8 multiplier). I did this for a while and then got curious so tried a few drift zones; my steering accuracy is poor but I managed to three-star every zone on the first try. Just for kicks I went back to FH4 and tried the same car/tune and it was the same sorrow. Since then I’ve tried other cars in FH5 and it’s just a happier place. I still have a long way to go but I’m confident my Drift Zone accolades will be filled at some point – if the game doesn’t blow up. Not sure how the physics changed but not complaining. And yes, I use a controller; I bought the Elite II with my first stimulus check.
I use to struggle with drifting stunts or events, but the easiest way to get through these is to use a Formula Drift car, turn off traction control, and change transmission to manual. Shift your car into 3rd or 4th gear immediately and don’t bother changing gears when drifting through the drift zone. No need to use e-brake, the car should just naturally drift. Pull RT about 80% and feather control of RT to maintain momentum and your drift line. Briefly tap the left thumbstick left or right, which ever direction you need to to maintain your drift line. You’ll need to use some finesse and touch with the left thumbstick and RT. Don’t pull RT or push left thumbstick 100% otherwise you’;; spin out or start doing donuts.
