Hyundai Scoupe (1992 facelift)

Launched in 1989, the Scoupe is based on the Excel. Early models are powered by a Mitsubishi-derived 1.5L MPI engine with 97hp of power but a year later, it gained a 1.5L Alpha engine built in-house by Hyundai.

It was the first Korean car to have a turbocharged gasoline engine when the Scoupe Turbo variant came out in 1991. The turbocharged Alpha engine produces 129hp of power, sprinting from 0-100kph in 9.18 seconds, two seconds faster than the non-turbo variant. The top speed is over 200kph.

The Scoupe received a facelift in 1992 and it features a front styling inspired by the Y2 Sonata.

Production ended in 1996 and it was replaced by the Tiburon (Hyundai Coupe).
