As I’m counting down the time to launch, about 3 hours, I’ve been debating how I will play the game. I’m not talking about racing clean or being a wrecker. I always try to race clean. Well, there are exceptions when racing offline against the drivatars. I’ve been thinking more about how I can get the most enjoyment out of the game. That is why I bought the game, isn’t it?
The first game I bought for my Xbox One was Forza Motorsport 5. I thought it was a horrible game. How could this game be so bad when the Forxa Motorsport series had such good reviews? I then bought a used copy of Forza Motorsport 2 from GameStop for my Xbox 360. I was hooked. I’ve since bought all the Forza Motorsports including the original for my Xbox original. I have to admit Forza Motorsport 5 is probably the worst (I’m being polite) of the series and I’m glad I checked out the other versions. I learned a lot from playing all the other versions.
This brings me back to my original question of how I can maximize my enjoyment of the game. I looked at what I enjoyed in all the other versions of the game. I also looked at what I didn’t like in the other versions. I noticed hat I was always trying to get all the cars, including the unicorns. I also noticed that I wasn’t driving most of the cars. I never got comfortable in any car. There was one exception, Forza Motorsport 4. By the time I started playing it, the unicorns were gone and then it went end of life. There was an achievement for getting maximum affinity with a manufacturer. It wasn’t easy to get. I started driving Fords to get this achievement. I noticed I got good at tuning and racing Fords. It was fun. I had a collection of cars I was good at racing.
I’ve been thinking about doing the same thing in Forza Motorsport 7. I’ve been thinking about specializing in cars from three manufacturers, Ford, Lamborghini, and Mazda. These should cover most careers. I admit Indy cars will require Chevy or Honda, and F1 will require a Lotus. I may buy the cars from other manufacturers but they will most likely sit in the garage collecting dust. I’ve also been thinking about the unicorns. In the other games I’ve played where unicorns are available I’ve only found one of these unicorn cars fun to drive. The others spend time in garage collecting dust. I hope Forza Motorsport 7 has something similar to Forza Horizon 3, Forzathon, for getting the unicorns. That way I could get them and see if I enjoy them before they start collecting dust.
