how to unlock Barn Finds

well, I think I figured out how barn finds work… and like others I’m sure that have tried, it’s all “in theory” though, until we hear differently.

It’s all based on driver’s mileage. How far you’ve driven in-game. My friend started playing and he went through it similarly to the way I did it -
discount signs - TOP PRIORITY. We hunted those things down.
He also stopped at the “hotspot” thingies, like me, and started doing those PR events.

however, he hasn’t started to “farm” those yet (it’s a great way to make $$$ with the skill challenges/sponsorships) and his popularity is only #247.

He has unlocked 5… yes FIVE of the barn-finds already!!

Bugatti
BMW M1
Aston Martin DB5

literally, at a “mile-marker” they unlocked. I can’t remember the details right now, but it had nothing to do with races won (he’s only won the first tutorial ones), or anything else either I bet. Just driving. It also wouldn’t surprise me if it goes up exponentially. It would explain how it took me 1200 miles (exactly!!) to get the Shelby Daytona.

It seems the first 5 cars may go in a random order. However, I’m thinking the
Jaguar
Aston Martin DBR1
Shelby Daytona Coupe
Ferrari 250

actually come in a set order. And I will say, my four favorite cars to drive are all barn finds!

hope this helps, although, probably about 2 years too late. I’m going to play the game on another profile, with no Forza history, and see exactly if miles is the only thing to do with it, and IF it matches up to the miles driven my buddy and I have had previously. If that’s the case, I’ll post it here.

when i first started playing the barn finds were popping every few hours. Now at almost 40 hours 10 races left, being number 1 and almost all challenges done i am still missing 1. No idea how to get it… :confused:

There seems to be several factors at work to unlock the barn finds - it was discussed at length on the old forums. The only way is to keep playing the game - miles may affect some of them, but it definitely doesn’t affect them all (the difference in miles driven people had when the last barn find unlocked was huge - as low as a couple of thousand to multiple times that).

i’ve driven 1200ks and haven’t got the 4 other barn finds

Keep playing - that is nothing as far as distance goes in FH and distance doesn’t appear to be the only factor. I can tell you it they will unlock without playing online but other than that you just need to keep playing and they will unlock eventually.

I have droven over 2000 miles and still not unlocked any off them

Not sure how far I’ve driven but only started the game today so probably not as far as you guys, already had 2 barn’s pop up messages appear, can’t for the life of me work out how to get them though. Found the 2nd barn, drove there, all entrances to the barns are blocked by gates, any idea how I get in or do I / have I been looking at the wrong barn?

Yeah, I need just Ferrari 250, before i will do Darius Showdown(Champion of Champions and Star Showdown).

You can do the last race before the barn find unlocks - it will still unlock at some point even after you complete the last race.

This comment wasn’t too clear for me, but I think he meant he needs the 250 to do the race.

He doesn’t - I did the Darius race in one of the Lambo’s - I took it to mean he didn’t want to finish the “story” without unlocking the last barn find (which for most people is the 250 TR).

so after a TON of testing with five different profiles, barn-finds unlock via two requirements:
level
and
miles driven

One profile had over 2000 miles driven before we even completed the first free-roam heats, right after the first showcase. Every time it leveled up (wish I had written that down… oops) it unlocked a new barn find, no problem.

One profile we ran through the “story” and only unlocked two barn finds.

So yep, I’d say it’s a combination of miles driven and driver level.

Ok I have driven 655 miles I’m level 25 and still no barn finds…

Wow… This is in Forza Horizon 1 right? I honestly never had that happen. Hmm something new to try lol

Yeah,
I never waited so long for the girl in horizon 1 to message me that there is a barn find before I went to the Xbox one and got the horizon 2. I hope there are some good finds for this long wait!!!

Did you just race the story line mode? and how did you move from even to event? via driving the road or quick travel from outpost to outpost.

I didn’t experience any problems with barn finds, had them all at the end of the purple wristband. I drove numerous miles from event to event, after all the barnfinds I started to use the quick travel option a lot more. Also because I found out that only race distances counted for the miles driven stat, and not distance travelled in game. In between I also played a lot of playground games and streetraces online and got above lvl 25.

The last 2 will eventually pop, but take quite some time in between. But i am sure distance is a key factor in getting barn finds. Not sure if the outpost challenges matter, whenever i found one I did all the promos to get free travel. So had them all unlocked quite early in the game.

I have 2 accounts and keep both at the same level of progress, I saw atleast difference in the order the barn finds were found. 1 account had the 250 as last one, the other account had the 250 as 7th and de db as last.

I have over 2000 miles driven and am at driver level 70 on forza horizon 2 and still no barn finds have shown up at all this is pants the barn finds page is unlocked but when i go to the map or locations nothing thers nothing showing for them can someone tell me if you need to buy the tresure map for it also for this ??

I’ve only driven around 650 miles so far and yet I have almost all the barn finds I just need the DBR1 and the Ferrari

Or maybe you have too unlock everything BC I beat the game in 7 hours in ik know the last barn car is a rally car but it not unlock still hard as hell to unlock it
