One of the staples of the series — searching the landscape for secret abandoned cars you can fix up — is returning this time with “a strong Australian flavour”.

“When we choose our ‘barn find’ cars, we do a lot of research and design work to create backstories for each one. We need to know what led that specific car to be abandoned in that specific barn or outhouse, and it’s important to us that it makes sense,” Fulton said.

“There are a good selection of Australian cars to be found hidden across the vast environment we’ve created. However, rest assured that even if the car isn’t domestic there’s a really good backstory which explains how it got there.”

Safe to say if things are anything like Horizon 2 then Barn Finds will be kept under extremely tight wraps; it was one thing that early streamers weren’t allowed to cover whatsoever.

Nice quotes though Manteo. Hopefully they also take a cue from Horizon 2 and make all the barn finds brand new cars to the series.

I know I’m asking for too much here, but it would be pretty cool if backstories meant they give you history of all the barn finds besides the little blurb whoever the mechanic is gives you.

As stated, there’s complete back stories around why the cars are there, and history around the car, about it’s location and it’s value in the game, and ideally regarding its importance in Australian motoring history.

I don’t think they were in H2, were they?

I suppose they could, then when the cars were placed in your garage, then you’d know which ones were in a tan Finds, or Shrds as we Aussies call the.

We font have “Barns” we have small sheds, garden sheds, big boys sheds, man sheds and finally, garages. Those funny things stuck to our houses where we put our everyday cars… Well, not for us petrol heads, we turn our garages into man sheds and homes for our precious rides…Lol…

But Barn Finds could be mentioned or listed, much like locations, but those are usually held closer to their chests.

I think they might have been, I remember seeing the VW T1 and Willys Jeep on the big picture they released before the game.

I’m expecting the old Holden Ute, Ferrar166 and that gorgeous old Maserati to be some of them.

Yes. It’s just that their status is unannounced, or in other words, under the Ferrari 166MM (for example), it’s not saying “BARN FIND” or anything. We have to explore and see what cars are barn finds.

One question. On last Horizon I found the barns before they where “ready” and couldn’t get the car. Does anyone know if it will be the same here? Of if you get the car when you find the barn?

I’m assuming it’ll be the same as before, you can only “find” them when they’re “ready”.

I’m seriously looking forward to the barn finds in the game WITHOUT any spoilers. I hope the mods do they work post early access to keep them secret unless maybe a specially dedicated thread about barn finds info (which I certainly won’t open :p)

I am guessing the
50’s ute,
Robin Reliant and Ford Woody wagon are some of them.

Someone posted a list in the confirmed car list thread with cars not being present in the garage, but being listed on the confirmed list. Those might be the barn finds.
