I played the tutorial and unlocked my second Festival but I don´t see any options to save the game. If I click on the Back to Desktop Button it says “All your progress will be lost”. Does someone know how to quit the game without losing everything?
The game have auto save. You never need to save manually. What the notice said is actually, “All your unsaved progress will be lost.” It’s the same with previous games. Unless you crashed during a race or something, your progress are saved the moment you finished doing any kind of activities.

Are you shure? Im playing the game in German and it says nothing about “unsaved”. Maybe its a bug in the translation from English to German.
Yes. All the message means is that the progress since the last auto save will not be saved, which will be insignificant. The game auto saves frequently, you can notice the spinning circle in the bottom right when it does it.
Hey On Forza 5 Horizon. I lost all my progress from day launch to the 14th? And I’m kinda upset because all my cars and cash are gone with little progress available. And, I find it weird too, cause I heard it’s suppose to auto-save after an activity or match. But guess not?! All my stuff are gone sadly. I hope you can’t get this fixed soon and possibly refund my cars or cash. If not, just make sure you have an indicator to other newer players that this is a recurring problem and hoped to be fixed, so they don’t end up wasting progress like the others. It does auto save. However, there are occasional problems dating back years with past Forza games, where people have lost their saves. The save system is not very robust, that is a wider issue with Xbox’s cloud service and not something likely to be fixed any time soon, or ever.
So I’m not the only one having this problem and same day too. All progress lost 27hour of playing gone
Is there anyway to force save? Such as visiting home or something?
Due to multiple crashes causing progress loss, I do 2 things before exiting the game.

Start - Settings - Difficulty - move Drivatar difficulty a notch one way or the other. Press Start to “save”. Then go back to the game proper and wait for white “saving” wheel to stop spinning.

Start - RB once or twice - Go Home. When I load into my house, I then exit it into Freeroam and wait for any white saving wheel to stop spinning.
Guide Button - Home.
Guide Button - scroll down to FH5 - Start - Quit.
Then I feel confident in no progress loss.
Following. I have rolled back twice now and dont feel like redoing some of the races for a 3rd time 
I have encountered endless sync/autosave issues while playing fh5 on both my xsx and PC. It’s a big old mess and my advice to all is you shouldn’t run into any issues if you play on the same device. You should be able to exit and be able to reenter any time. However if you try play on multiple devices then you’re in for a world of trouble. Do not so this… Trust me…

I don’t believe you can avoid auto sync/save issues ATM due to bugs but the following has helped me:
Before logging out go to car garage, wait a few seconds, exit out of garage into world, wait till buffer symbol finished. Exit game.
If switching between Xbox and pc then do step above but also make sure to close game so that it doesn’t auto resume on Xbox.
I’m pretty sure quick resume is part of the issue with getting game save rollbacks, I find if I use quick resume I have no idea if my progress will save or regress to a earlier time, the only way to be sure is to quit the game from the xbox sidebar.
I’ve never lost my actual LOCAL progress, but I’ve logged off for a few minutes, and got back on, and had my seasonal progress/points wiped TWICE, and it ended up awarding me the cars each time I get the points again. I ended up with multiple A110s and NSXs.
I doubt QR is the issue. I don’t even have access to QR but get progress roll back if I’m not careful in ending my gaming session.
