How having paid for the Ultimate Edition, I can’t even to think in having access to a 488 Pista, Speedtail or similar “exclusive” cars?? How come you have to spend 16 to 20M for a Huracan Supertrofeo?
In fact, most of the MY’18-'19 cars are not available, which are the most interesting ones and the ones which makes the difference between this game and others.
When explaining this to some colleages who where interested in purchasing XSeriesX most of them told: “How it is that you pay full price for a game and have no chance to get the full content?”
I can tell that they were interested in FH4+SeriesX but for sure won’t be buying.
it is ridiculous. I understand the point of the seasons, the Series XY Update. OK, it is fine, you play the Series/season playlist and get the car for free. But if you can’t play the season for any reason (covid anyone?¿) the most sensible is to make that new cars added available to purchase at AutoShow. That’s how what’s suppossed when you pay full price for a game…
The cars came out way after the game was released and they are not part of the car packs.
If you really want them then go to Auction House and buy them from there or wait until they become available again in playlist (which they do quite often actually).
Ultimate edition gives players a lot more benefits then the standard does which i’m not going to bother listing as it is quite easy to see what they are in the game.
I bought vintage cars early on and they cost 10 mill a pop and i didn’t complain because i wanted them and i raced hundreds of races just to get them, not to mention doing the same to buy the castles which then unlocked perks that also helps you along your way to earning more credits.
You are not “supposed” to get every car for free because you paid a premium for a game, you have to earn it like you do with other things in other games.
I will remind people of first shooter games that do not give you all the weapons “straight up”, you have to earn them otherwise it makes the game pointless.
Same with this game, earn your credits, buy your cars…
BTW, some of the cars which you think are the most interesting are actually not. Your DLC cars (which you will have if you purchased Ultimate) are far more better and there are also quite a few in the Autoshow that leave those “interesting” cars for dead.
It’s not a matter of effort, but of pointlessly time-gating content. I doubt the TC is inept at gaming.
The Ultimate Edition of this game is trash. It’s little more than a bundle with all the content + time savers which you acquire through regular gameplay. No real benefit to buying it.
To be fair, I thought that was pretty much the standard definition of an ultimate edition - a bundle of the base game + additional content.
I bought ultimate pre-order as it presented a money saving over buying the game day 1 & the additional content separately as and when it was released.
I’ve bought other ‘ultimate’ versions of games later in their lifecycle (usually when heavily discounted) for similar reasons, they generally are good value for money if you intend to buy the dlc as well. Often if it is later in the lifecycle, it’s just not much more for the ultimate edition, so the gamble in terms of outlay is usually worth it - if there’s a fair chance I will play the game long enough to use it.
Horses for courses I suppose but calling it trash because it is what it’s meant to be, seems a little harsh.
It’s the same in every game. You don’t start out with all abilities/weapons. That’s the way it is. At least with this game you don’t have to pay real money for them. There are certainly problems but at least micro transactions aren’t one of them.
That isn’t true of all games, at least not for competitive gameplay. I’ve mentioned before that in GT Sport you can sign with a manufacturer on day 1 of owning the game, and compete in FIA races with zero competitive disadvantage. You don’t have to spend any time acquiring any content to compete on a level playing field. Or AoE II DE is another game where you have access to 100% of content relating to competitive gameplay right from when you first run the game.
So there are games where you don’t have to spend time acquiring content before you can compete. But beyond that, to the extent to which other games do allow content to be obtained that can provide a competitive advantage, there are games that don’t limit access to that content to specific short periods of time. For example if you want to compete in GT Sport Nations Cup, you will want a decent selection of cars, but you can earn credits and obtain those cars at any time. Limiting access to content that affects the outcome of competitive gameplay to specific periods of time is absolutely not the same in every game.
Totally agree, I’ve brought this issue up many times. IMHO its just bad game design to arbitrarily lock content away behind time gates. In FH3 that content has stayed permanently locked with no update to unlock it after the weekly events ended, which is a really sad fate for all those awesome cars which should be able to be enjoyed by players, not forever locked away.
I’m just exhausted by all the complaining. I missed out on the superfast when it was first available because I didn’t even know the forzathon shop existed despite preordering the game. I didn’t whine about it. I just got it the next time it was available. It’s not like there’s achievements tied to it and like someone mentioned earlier, a lot of those cars are nothing special as far as performance goes.
My guess is that the OP is referring to the fact that most of the time when you buy the ultimate/goty/whatever version of a game, it generally means you get EVERYTHING the game has to offer. Technically that’s true with the Ultimate edition since you have the same chance to get the exclusive cars as any other version plus all the other content, but at the same time the exclusive cars are misleading and can be construed as false advertising since the devs say “the game has X car” but fail to mention that you needed to play the game on Y week to get it, so it’s not truly available to everyone.
Cheesus people, the developers need SOME compensation for adding new content to the game. People need to be payed to do the work to add these cars to the game. They could be behind paywalls and microtansactions, but no, playground games made the much more consumer friendly decision to put them in the weekly playlist in order to keep up player retention and interest.
This was stuff on top of the things added to the ultimate edition, which does include a car pass and both expansion. In order to keep adding cars to the game on top of those, there needs to be SOME financial gain (or were you just expecting PG employees to work for free?). You got what you paid for with the ultimate edition. If you’re not satisfied that’s your prerogative, but you’re asking for way too much for too little. You’re living in a fantasy if you believe you’re owed those cars.
I’ll take my timegated but free cars over microtransactions/paywalls thank you. And I own ultimate edition, and have gotten my money’s worth from that content for sure.
So I guess some level of buyer beware applies. Especially when the game has been out for some time now. If you bought Ultimate prior to launch, there was no way to know about the time gated nature of some content - it’s been pretty widely discussed in the time since launch.
In recent years, Ultimate editions have described a package which includes the base game and planned DLC that will arrive. Depending on the longevity of the game, more DLC may follow at a cost to be decided at that time. GOTY often will include all DLC’s but still require some gameplay to unlock some of those features/ items.
Playground in their wisdom have decided that some content requires gameplay to be completed at specific times of their choosing - as I say not a fan.
I traditionally play FM games more than Horizon, I like the Horizon games just fine but tend to spend a few weeks playing them intently - then go back to FM to do some rivals or whatever. So I have missed out on loads of cars, as I won’t play just to get a car & don’t play often enough to even know what is on offer one week to the next.
I would like to think that Playground will change their stance on this for the next game - not sure they will though, as it will in it’s own way, have probably had the gotta catch em all fans playing for longer - than they would have done, if it was possible just to grind for the credits to buy the cars they wanted.
It’s a game to us and a business to them.
I’d also be a little surprised if someone considering investing in the next Xbox is basing their decision whether to purchase or not, on a game that has been out for a while with some updated graphics (without already knowing how the game works).
FYI FH3 ultimate wasn’t even having all car packs associated …
Anyway, some cars are hardly available, the new car you get in playlist this week will possibly not be available for months therefore new players arriving next week will have to wait until it comes back.
It’s kind of privilege of first arrived.
That topic is very discussed on the forum and many are upset about it. Nevertheless if you come here expecting a feedback from an official representative, won’t happen.
funny that it’s all the regular complainers that have played since day one standing up for others that buy the game heavily discounted nearing end of support 2 years later expecting to get everything available since day one
buy it day one at full price if that’s what you expect
