How far-fetched is the idea of user modeled cars?

Users can design liveries for cars, tune cars and even build their own custom maps to an extent. What if users could also model their own cars?

and model own physics for those cars like Nils Heusinkveld:

there are thousands of car mods for games like Assetto Corsa but only a few have realy good physics…

I wonder if there would be any licensing issues if a user modeled a car. Could that be a possible loophole?

with those noncommercial private made mods in the other racing games it does not look like there are licensing issues

It creates more possible cheats such as tiny cars that fit in tiny gaps.

Already mentioned it to them as an idea, dont know why it wouldnt work as it works for MS flight and yeah while it would mean some people making silly cartoon cars and tracks some of the planes and airports in flight are higher spec than the default options

if you haven’t installed silly mod-planes into your msflight you only see a placeholder plane…
but it would be nice if its possible to buy high detailed third party Car-Mods

They had it in Sega GT. I was sooo excited I had made a nice looking car (I was a kid and it probably looked like a Homer lol) but the physics were sooo bad.

Still, though a nice unique widebody body for my Type 2 would be lovely.

The worry is dumb shapes, but the thought of coachbuilders desiging cool stuff is appealing.

I never played Sega GT but why does your image look a million times better then all images of that game online?

Oh. It’s definitely not from Sega GT.

Just thought it looked like something cool someone would be able to make.

That game looked very impressive for the time, though.

I think it would just be nice if they would give us some nice fenders hoods and some nice looking exhaust when we changed the exhaust.

Those two crummy options they give us for hoods haven’t changed in how long? It’s about time at the very least for some new hood options.

Fenders and some nice looking rear wings would be nice. Not those monsters like nfs, some nice looking wings that are attractive and functional.

That just seems kind of goofy. Not to mention I can’t imagine the cars would look anywhere near as good as their vanilla counterparts, no matter how well they’re designed

Need for Speed had a feature called Autosculpt which let you design your own bumpers, sideskirts, spoilers and even wheels. That was an amazing feature!

@anonyyymous I guess it wouldn’t be any different as with user designed vinyls and decals

I wasnt as much thinking about user designed cars as user imports, Im sure theres free software thats pretty easy to use that will turn photos of their own cars into a point cloud which can then be imported into a 3d modeling program to clean up, add textures and moving parts etc then exported as a file thats readable by a forza.

Im sure there would be a broad range of creations just like in the paints, but just like the paints some folk would make some great things and others would improve with practice.

My take is simply this. There is clearly a pool of talented and passionate users that play this game. There is also a neverending demand for new cars. Why not give these talented and passionate users the tools to meet this demand which is controlled by some form of an approval process. Anyone can design their own car and drive it in solo mode. But only those cars approved by the developers can be sold or driven by other players online. It’s just a thought anyway. I’m also sure it’s easier said then done.

A official approving process is where license issues may occur.
Im pretty sure when it comes to gamemods containing branded content the developing company can’t get involved in any way…
