How do you recognize a rally raid vehicle?

or, what constitutes a rally raid vehicle and how would I recognize one?

There are 4 I know of. Ford Rally Road, Porche Macan rally raid, Porche 959 rally raid and the Nissan rally raid

OK, I guess I get it. “rally raid” is just part of a car’s name in the game. Thanks for that list.

Car categorizing in this game is really fuzzy at times and the fact, that there’s no proper listing of the cars, makes finding the right ride a pain (and I already have plenty of that inherently).
This game has a lot of QOL shortcomings.

The Mini X-Raids both worked for the rally raid daily.

Edit: I used the jcw buggy first, then on another account the countryman.

I did wonder about the two “mini” vehicles (one a heavy tank, one a medium tank) but restricted the blueprint I made to the four with “rally raid” in the name

If you’re familiar with events like the Dakar rally or the Baja 1000, you roughly know what make a vehicle suited for one of these events looks like.

Admitedly, this isn’t a proper answer for this thread so allow me to help sketch a picture.
The most obvious clues to recognize a vehicle for extreme terrain navigational races are the following, but not limited to :
•Multiple spare tires mounted somewhere on the vehicle. Trophy trucks usually have these mounted on the rear of the tube-frame chassis while T1(+) vehicles like the Prodrive Hunter have these on the side of the vehicle tucked behind some bodywork. Extra tools and safety gear usually can also be found nearby.
•Additional set of headlights mounted on the roof or within the grill of the car. Though, this sometimes is optional.
•(Highly) modified or silhouette bodywork. This varies from class to class. Trophy trucks and Class 1 buggies are typically the latter with exotic material bodywork around a tube-frame chassis. However, those cost fortunes to build. That’s why you most often see the former used by smaller teams, privateers or even car manufacturers themselves build vehicles to a more accesible class.
•Highly advanced suspension setups with huge wheeltravel to absorb every single bump possible. Depending on what class a vehicle is build to, these could be restricted. Trophy trucks typically have no restrictions. This also goes hand-in-hand with high ground clearence.

To help illustrate this, here’s some practical examples of vehicles that are/are not rally raid vehicles, seen in Forza games :
:green_circle: Ford Ranger T6, wich i believe is build to the T1 regulations for Dakar
:green_circle: Bowler EXR-S, a road going version of the Bowler Nemesis
:green_circle: VW Baja bugs. Yup, even something as humble as the VW bug has a long history in rally raid, specifically the Baja 1000 wich has classes tailored specifically for the German icon!
:red_circle:RJ Anderson Pro trucks and Robby Gordon stadium super truck :These are different pro trucks than what the regulations say for SCORE. These are instead made of short circuit off-road racing. The latter is used on tarmac.
:red_circle: Funco F9 : Originally not made with racing in mind, it’s serves as a sand dragster in the dunes. That being said, you probably could modify one for rally raid purposes.
:red_circle: The Sierra R chassis : These are crosskarts, not buggies.
:yellow_circle: Extreme E cars : Technically, these aren’t rally raid vehicles but i recall one being driven in a single stage of the Dakar years ago with Ken Block behind the wheel.

That’s a very brief summary of some practical examples. However, don’t take this as an “end-all” list as history has shown numerous times that anything can be build into a racecar. For example, in Dakar the Citroën DS23 and 2CV did compete in the event, cars you wouldn’t expect right ? This then follows the numerous SUVs and pick-up trucks that have cosmetics options to turn them into something that looks like a Dakar vehicle!

Those are actual Dakar vehicles bytheway! Both build to the T1 regulations.

The JCW Buggy follows the “Bigger tires but restricted to RWD” route while the Countryman follows the “smaller tires but AWD allowed” route, similar like the Ford Ranger T6.

The T1+ ruleset also exists wich combines the advantages of both routes in T1, as made to allow Audi their car to compete without upsetting the balance of the original T1 regs. Other manufacturer have then also followed and build/adapted cars for T1+ (Toyota, Prodrive, Ford, soon Land rover,…). Currently, Forza does not have a T1+ vehicle in any of their games.

Funny you mention this. Back when Johniwanna was still affiliated with turn 10, he had the idea of doing this yearly thing called the Forza Dakar wich would be held across all his streams in January (running parralel with the real Dakar). I participated in 3 out of all 4 that were done back then across both Horizon 4 and 5.

The only rule was “to use An A800 class vehicle that could do the actual Dakar rally, and whatever you choose is what you’ll stick with for the entire event”… While this did encourage interesting cars, it was to be exploited by some players wanting to join along in the final year of the event. It was all for fun and just having a good time but i do feel that it somewhat broke the spirit of the event.
