Probably around the same here, about to do 1 last race in Tour and that’s it I’ve 100%'ed it.
Thanks for your insights!
The AI is ridiculous. I am not the best racer, though from my limited Open racing clearly better than most, but I am able to fairly easily defeat the AI in Mexico on Unbeatable 99% of the time. I tried two of the class B races at unbeatable and the AI left no chance of me winning or even close to winning. Then defeated the AI in those two races at PRO/Expert, whichever is harder. Got to the third race and the AI in the last 25% just took off so much faster than I could manage in the same car, was only able to win by lowering the difficulty.
I would like to have a consistent difficulty in that it is a challenge to win, not difficulty that goes from easy to win to you having zero chance to win.
You need to focus more on power and top speed in Hot Wheels. Most of the time you’ll be able to get through a corner without much braking.
For the price of the DLC, how much I like the cars and how it deels like driving a playset world from my childhood I’m really happy with it. I think they made a mistake on the racing, but otherwise it’s almost exactly what I wanted.
I noticed that some categories of cars in certain classes perform significantly better then others in the same class since the AI uses a car of the same type and PI.
In my case b-class and a-class was a walk in the park using my meta cars. It wasn’t until S1 when my meta cars couldn’t compete with the unbeatable AI on some tracks despite the fact my car was painted gold which gave it a 10% speed boost. So that’s when I experimented with wall riding a little and to my surprise I learnt that I could look at my phone and beat unbeatable while checking on my emails.
Wall riding is obviously wrong and ultimately makes you a bad driver so that’s why I started experimenting with other cars in different categories, so I played with a few hot wheel cars and I was back to winning legitimately against unbeatable.
Same thing happened with S2 and my meta cars were losing. Ultimately I ended up winning legitimately by choosing a car with a high end top speed.
It’s weird racing IMO. I don’t find it taps into the skills required by a good driver. It’s more about slam down that accelerator and looking at all the pretty scenery.
Was going to write a little mini review having 100%'ed it earlier but what I put on TA says enough to be honest…
Was an enjoyable enough playthrough, I can only see myself returning for seasonal events + some occasional Open though, the meta cars in standard S2 Open are done over by their race suspension in certain HW sections so it’s way more umm…open, I struggled hugely with the McLaren F1 GT only winning 1 of the 3 races but then walked to 3/3 in an S2 992 CLK-GTR with an offroad tune installed.
Tour could be great in HW if the wall-riding penalties used in Open were present but they aren’t so it just encourages abusing the hell out of that, played through 2 of them for the 50 miles mission and didn’t see a single other person even attempting to take corners properly, I won all 5 races I was in and DNF’ed the entire field in the 2 Hazard races which have offroad sections where you can’t wallride your way around turns, who’d have guessed doing it the right way might have something to it?
As for everything else I just personally can never get the same excitement or sense of spectacle once I’ve seen anything a couple of times, since spectacle + wow moments seem to be the main focus of this DLC I won’t be returning to it for that when it’s been and gone + can’t be repeated, for me at least.
Considering I only bought the complete add-ons as the result of a small £4 bet coming in though I was glad I chose to.
One thing I noticed, the tracks tend to favor cars with a high inherent downforce number, not one aided by add on spoilers. I completed the S2 races and some of the tour races with the BT62 capped at 997 (hard to get it to 998 properly). In 1 of the Tour races I outpaced a whole field of HW BTTB on both teams to the point where the game glitched and handed the Bots the win…
I largely agree with everything you said especially this point. I took the day off yesterday to play the expansion. I played for the better part of the whole day. It was an ok experience and I personally encountered no bugs. However that night I didn’t turn on my console. Nor have I turned it on since waking up. Why? Because I have no urge to play it. I’ve pretty much done everything outside of mindlessly play online racing. Instead I’ll jump on for the seasonals as you say which I genuinely despise.
End game content. Where is it??? Come on PGG. Google what end game content is or something.
Even what they would consider “end game” content isn’t even at the end of the DLC. The final race is jokingly called the “Goliath” and it takes 5 minutes or less to complete. But you still have to “drive 50 miles” in each of the online aspects of the game to 100% the final classification.
Not sure what you mean but when I say end game content I’m referring to content that keeps players logging in daily. Content that is engaging and rewarding that can be repeated but is enjoyable.
For example the base game already has a bunch of end game content such as Eliminator, Online Racing, Rivals, Event Labs, Liveries etc. But most/all of this content is not really rewarding or engaging as its arguably not competitive. For example in online racing, the fact you win or lose means very little in the grand scheme of things. You’re also matched against random skilled opponents who could be significantly better or worse then you. Not really fun.
I could go on and on but the point I’ll make is FH5 base game lacks replayable content that draws players back each day. The HW expansion has added no new end game content outside of additional tracks to race on and improvements to event labs which is too early to judge.
What I would love to see is more game modes added like Eliminator to the base game and possible expansion.
CUSTOM LOBBIES would be an insanely good in terms of fun and engaging replayable content.
Cracking down on cheating and adding some sort of ranked based oine racing would be another excellent replayable feature.
But unfortunately right now there’s a huge drought when it comes to this stuff.
even though i’ve only completed B and A classes, my impressions so far fall under “meh”. tbh i’m not really surprised as i had low expectations to begin with for this rehash of an old concept that defies credulity. i hope that the second DLC is more grounded in reality.
I finished everything but the tour and open missions, and still have some clean rival scores left, i don’t play against real drivers anymore in forza with all the ramming etc, so open and tour will never be completed for me.
I liked it, but i too think it was too short, hopefully they will add some stories and other events in the future…
I played for 7-8 hours.
Ah, I see. For me “end game” content is like a final boss fight. The “big fight”, so to speak. It’s the content that puts the exclamation point on the whole DLC, or game in general. Most of what I consider “end game” content for FH5 came across like a wet flatulence (can’t use the other word…lol). Stale and messy.
Fortunately, you don’t have to win in open or tour. Just complete 50 miles. You can goof off at the back of the field and still complete it.
I would give up a few more cars for custom lobbies.
That’s called “replayability”.
“End game” is …the end of the game, having accomplished everything there is to do and own all the things and be at highest levels.
Since they are adding new cars pretty regularly, and the X-pack, …they are doing exactly what you want them to do - add replayability to the game to keep you coming back to get the stuff. What stuff? The Cars and content.
working as intended in their POV… you don’t like their delivery implementation…
my example of “End game” would be in WoW when you’re at the end of the content and basically running the hardest most gear profitable dungeons on rote to disperse gear through out the rest of guild for hte next inevitable X-pack and bump to the end game.
I make my own End Games…
999M cash
No1 vinyl spot in World Hub
Win Goliath on Unbeatable
Win Colossus on Unbeatable
Find all Map Locations
Get all Cars
3 Star all Stunts
Get top 1% on most things.
Own all Houses
Find all Boards
That’s about my list I think.
Ehh no it’s not. End game content is whats left to do after completing 100% of the content. I.e. content at the end of the game. Anyway that’s all I’ll say to you cause you are you and all lol.
Your end game appears to be wasting your life on this forum… And igonre works both ways sparky, feel free any time.
As for you, no worries, I’m going to go play and enjoy the game now, you have fun being here acting self important and or doing whatever this is… LOL.
