Hotwheels Chevy Camaro SS badge

I was looking at the new Hot wheels cars and noticed that the Camaro had the SS badge in the picture but when looked to the actual car, the badge isn’t there. Is this a bug or Turn 10 doesn’t want to pay extra for the SS trademark?

The SS badge and nickname was removed from game assets years ago. This is the official statement:

Yea i know but it is in the picture, must be a bug then?

More likely that someone forgot to remove it from the thumbnail picture. Similar to how in certain angles you can see the ghost of the SS logo on the 02 Camaro rear bumper and the SS logo on the center console of the Nova.

Yep I was pretty excited when I saw the badge on the left hand side of my screen. It’s really sad that an American game studio that made a living off of detail has to defile true American icons to keep them in the game evidently.

Even though Gran Turismo, made by a Japanese studio, refuses to remove these badges and yet the Chevrolet cars are still in the game with badges intact. Hmmmmm sounds pretty suspect to me.

You know it’s just plain bad, I’ve been asking here and in emails to T10 for them to please add these badges back to these cars. I’m tired of feeling like I’m driving a kit car. I haven’t ever seen a SS Camaro without it’s badges in any of the numerous car shows I’ve been to here in the US.

So depressing they don’t have their badges in Forza.

Keep in mind that the official statement refers to global strategies, not just U.S. There is one set of assets used by everyone. It’s not as if badging and car specs are localized to each player’s region.

Indubitably, I was just venting. I know that this is evidently a global strategy because they took the badges off the cars for all players after Chevrolet got their hand slapped overseas.

I was just hoping that one day T10 would make the badges an option for those of us that really want it back. I am a car purist, and I hardly ever drive these cars because of this reason. It bothers me greatly.

It would be nice if they just used the Z28 for the Camaro. Doesn’t solve the issue for the other SS models, but would be great for the Camaro.

Who cares? OMG no SS badge it’s the end of the world.

For purists and people who expect proper car models it is. When other games have the logo and we have no logical reason to not have it, T10’s explanation is just PR/CYA, it makes 0 sense for these cars not to have the logo.

Max told us why. Complain to Chevy. What can Turn 10 do? Been like this since Forza 5. Harp on issues they can do something about. This is dead and buried yrs ago.

Except that the explanation given us doesn’t stand up to any logical scrutiny. GM allows the use of the SS name and badges FOR EVERY OTHER CAR GAME ON THE MARKET. But not Forza games. Logically that means it’s not GM but Turn 10 or more likely Microsoft that have the issue with including the SS name and badges. I would rather not have my intelligence insulted with the transparently false reason given for their absence.

It stands up to the only bit of scrutiny that matters, which is that the rights holder (General Motors, or Chevrolet if they’re negotiating independently) asserts full control over how their properties are represented under any licensing arrangement. This is universally true in any licensing arrangement, except perhaps where the rights holder lacks a strong negotiating position which is clearly not the case here.

If a change has been made to how a property has been represented then you can be absolutely sure that it’s entirely with the rights holder’s approval. GM, or Chevrolet, are happy with how these models are represented in the game; they have the stronger position, and if they weren’t happy the cars would have been pulled from the game.

I might think its because they have to pay extra to include the badge…? Just speculating… But anyways i didn’t knew about this and got sad to see that the SS badge isn’t in the steering wheel of the Hotwheels Camaro, feels kinda naked.

I don’t see the problem personally. It’s an extremely small issue that bears next to no importance.

It was a decision made at MS level and not Chevy/GM. Other games have the badges without issue, so its quite clear MS made an issue for some perceived non-issue, which is dumb in this case. Everyone who plays racing games knows what SS refers to for Chevys cars. It’s a car with history along with the badge.

I think folks would complain if “Type R” was removed from Honda cars so I don’t see an issue here. You can’t advertise that you have the most “realistic” models of cars, without the badging. That’s a feature that’s missing no matter what it stated.

It would be cool if they offered the badge in the body kit section, that way you can select badge if you want it or if you like a badgeless car.

Oh well.

I’ve never seen them advertise their car models as the “most realistic models”. So there once again imo shouldn’t be a problem.

It’s just a badge. Can’t you paint it on in the livery editor if needs be?

Not when that badge is in a non-paintable area, like the center of the grille.
