I was a bit surprised when I read the announcement about Horizon 5 being not only available for pre-purchase,
but also ready for pre-download/install some weeks (a few months?) ago …
I didn’t want to download right away back then, as I was wainting for a new SSD drive and the release for W11 …
anyways, a few days back before upgrading to w11 I re-checked the store page / game page inside the PC Windows / Xbox Game Pass App,
and I’m pretty sure it also said something like “estimated download/install size ~85-95 GB” …
however, after upgrading to W11 final release this week, FH5 info page now says “estimated install size ~11 MB”
and it also actually doesn’t seem to download more than this, after like 5 seconds it’s done, all it does is placing a white/blank icon shortcut on desktop.
I can click the “play” button in the xbox app, but nothing happens, which is also unusual I believe…
(I was especting at least a “game not released yet” pop up message, similar to the one I got when I pre-downloaded/installed The Ascent a while back, for example…)
So, I’m wondering, is there anyone who received more than these ~ 10 MB of “preload” data in the past,
has it always been like this, or is it “new” now, no longer being able to download most of the games files in advance
(so you would only need a smaller day one/unlock patch on release day in november eg.)
PS:
I tried again after “downgrading” back to W10, it still only says “10 MB of data” and won’t download more…
I haven’t “pre-purchased” FH5,
but my Game Pass PC Ultimate subscription is valid til 2023 …
The actual pre-download will probably come out closer to launch. The small placeholder until then is pretty typical for MS/XBOX Store pre-orders in my experience.
I have got and entry in my APPS & Features for Forza Horizon 5 34.0 MB in size,
when I click on advanced I can see a main App of 13.6 MB and Expansion 1 and 2, 10.1 MB each.
The Icon I had placed on the desktop is sort of Pink with a black Frame and black ‘Forza’ writing inside, when I click it I get a message in a blue Windows box stating that I’m early and can refer to the release date in the Store.
I would suggest to uninstall what you have if possible and download fresh.
Hi guys I’ve got Premium edition of Forza 5. They say Premium owners will start playing 5 november but when will the pre load start ? Do you know exact time or Are there any certain information about pre load times because this game approx. 100 gb or higher and it will take very long time to install it. If you want to play together you can add me as friend. Thank you see you at Mexico in game.
My card hasn’t been charged yet either but my assumption is those who did pre-order or did the premium add-ons will be charged starting next Sunday. So this preload is gonna be essential to being able to start right as the clock strikes midnight on 11/5
Preload complete here as well. getting the ultimate edition. Maybe no I can use my dusty AF Logitech wheel I purchased that was such a disappointment in FH4.
