Horizon 3 Car Meets

I was just wondering if there are anymore car meets other then the airfield car meet? I have every festival fully upgraded and every midnight run or whatever but I have been looking all over for it. Are they holding it for the full release or in an update. Please help I need this.

The airport Car Meet is the only one, that was a decision they made based on user behavior in FH2, according to Ralph Fulton.

Funny, the Nice car meet was always active as well as some of the others. If people wouldn’t just park there and do absolutely nothing, those of us looking for a race could, without having to jump in and out to find an active lobby. If, let’s say, an inactive player was booted after 10 minutes it would free up the lobby’s for the active racers.

That’s just my observations from the FH2 carmeets.

With that said, I’ve been happy with meeting a lot of good racers, with good additudes at the carmeets, and I would have never met them if not for it.

Kinda bummed and disapointed at that decision(really!). For me it was one of the best points of the game(FH2).

Just my humble opinion, that’s all.

I was really disappointed when I saw that the car meet is only for drag racing. Car meet showdowns were the only races that I actually enjoyed in Horizon 2, but I hate drag racing, so I’m never going to the car meet in Horizon 3.

I think the main problem with Horizon 2’s car meets was that everyone was placed in one when they started the game. If you turned the game on and left it, you’d be put into a public lobby automatically. I think that was the case with most inactive players. Why else would they be there if they didn’t want to race or anything?

What ! I practically lived in the Car Meets in FH2 where there are always folks to race with from all over the world and I can’t believe it’s not included in this version - that’s a bummer for sure. But hey, FH2 is still installed on my box, so no worries there.

How do you use the car meet? Can’t seem to figure it out, every time I enter, it black screens then spawns me on the runway.

The Car Meet was the last thing ANNA unlocked in my game progression - getting kicked out might occur if you haven’t gotten that far yet.

Ahh, okay. That makes sense. Cheers!

That is a bummer, really. I lived at the Nice Car meet in FH2. Sometimes I’d stroll over to Castelletto as well. I never went to the airport car meet after I found out that one of the random races was a drag race. Just my opinion, but I’d rather do road/dirt course than drag races all the time.

I’ve not seen anything other than a drag race at the airport! I kept away from there because of it…

I can’t for the life of me workout how to do a showdown at a car meet

you have to be on solo mode to enter the car meet i think, if you’re on a group or online freeroam it spawns you out when you try to enter

you also need to wait for it to pop up sometimes. It took a while the last time to get one going. Getting online adventure started always seems to be first unless someone else starts a showdown. I also noticed for whatever reason every other day i need to quit out of the game, otherwise i can’t connect at all to people in the car meet (always on)

Car meets were the only way you could choose what class you raced in online. Otherwise you are just jammed into an S2 crashathon demolition derby which are the opposite of fun. Bring back car meets!

It’s crazy that we lost this feature. There was no other way to choose to race B or C class cars online. Everyone always votes for S1/S2, so I never got to drive my favorite slower cars. This is a big problem. You literally are not allowed to race slow cars in Online Road Trip in Horizon 2. The problem was solved many years ago: it’s called lobbies. Online multiplayer lobbies have been around for decades. Horizon 1 had custom public lobbies, Forza Motorsport has the “hoppers” so you can choose a category, you can join like-minded players. They deleted that in Horizon 2. Now in Horizon 3 they deleted the Car Meets, which were already a low-grade workaround for the lack of lobbies. Online multiplayer lobbies were invented decades ago. I really can’t believe that we lost this.

They should have made two other car meets at the very least: Rally, and Street Race. One in a prime rally location, and one in a touge/street race location. Same idea as the Drag car meet, but for non-drag racers.

Also Car Meets in Horizon 2 had the important (although minor) purpose for letting players mill around and look at other people’s cars and do challenges…while in a parked enclosed area. Which for some purposes, is far better than driving around in Free Roam and meeting / looking at other people’s cars.

If Ralph Fulton thinks the airfield drag Car Meet is the only car meet that matters, that’s because of a sampling error in Horizon 2. The airfield drag Car Meet was the only car meet that actually aligned with the interests of a group of people. The other car meets were random mish-mash events: street, rally, half-dirt half-pavement. If there were Car Meets that were tailored for touge, street, rally (just like how the airfield Car Meet was tailored toward drag), those would have been used, though I know they would be less popular than drag. As it was, nobody had any reason to use any other Car Meet, because it was a random mishmash of courses and events with no rhyme or reason. So of course the airfield drag meet was the only one that was consistently utilized by anybody.

Note that we have the same problem in Free Roam: you have no idea what group you’re joining, and you’ll be randomly matched with a group…you have no choice about what your preferred activity or car class is. For a game that touts “social features”, it’s very anti-social, because it blocks you from finding and joining like-minded players. Horizon 1 and Motorsport have options…Horizon 2 and Horizon 3 have no options.

Yeah, the only reason that the airport car meet was so overwhelmingly popular Horizon 2 was that it was the only one for drag races. Everyone else was spread across the other five(?) car meets if they wanted to go a car meet and something besides drag racing. I don’t understand why they didn’t make at least one other car meet in Horizon 3 for people who don’t want to drive from one end of an airstrip to the other repeatedly.

The freeroam races are pretty lame (again) because you can only reliably get people to do S1 or S2 races. I’ve only been able to do one race in another class, but there was just two other people, and they didn’t have cars tuned for B, so they used a stock 2017 Raptor and IS350 in a trail race, which my (stock) Impreza beat with no effort whatsoever.

Horizon 1’s multiplayer was so much better in almost every way. It’s incredible how much they ruined it with Horizon 2 and how they ignored every complaint when making Horizon 3.

Yeah, it is mind boggling? There was much discussion during Horizon 2 on how bad the lack of choice online was. It just doesn’t make sense? The content is there for the taking LET US PLAY IT THE WAY WE WANT IN THE CLASS W WANT! But they just ignore this. I almost passed on H3 once I knew it was identical to H2 online but am too much of an addict. I am loving H3 but I haven’t gone online yet and likely won’t unless I can get into some organized events that won’t be random idiots crashing S2s and always voting S2. The online vote is the worst possible idea ever.

You can create your own races/championships in online Campaign/free roam, you can them select which car class or type from there.

Last I checked, they were called Car meets, not Drag meets. Don’t assume that just because people don’t dive into your repeated Showdown requests that they’re inactive.

My problem isn’t finding people who don’t want to race, it’s finding anyone at all.

I just get lobbed in with drivatars, spent 15 minutes sat waiting at a meet and not a single actual person has appeared.
