Hello!
I’ve been playing Forza Horizon 3 on my PC for a while now. When Horizon 4 got released I decided to try it using the 14-day Game Pass trial that Microsoft had and everything worked great. Today I decided to play again after not playing for about a week so the trial was over. I bought the game and when launching it the first gray window with the game logo pops up. After 3-5 seconds that window disappear and nothing else happens. Then I tried Horizon 3 again and the same problem happens there as well.
The PC I have this problem on is running Windows 10 Pro 1803 Build 17134.1 and has the following components:
- i7-8700K
- Asus GTX 1080Ti 11GB OC
- 32GB RAM
- Samsung 970 EVO 500GB NVME SSD
I can mention that before I started troubleshooting nothing had been changed on the PC between the last time the games worked and today. Nothing has been installed or updated at all and everything is up-to-date
I decided to check the Event Viewer and it shows the following error for both Horizon 3 & 4 with different paths:
In order to try to fix this problem I’ve tried the following:
- Reinstall Horizon 4
- Repair vcredist_x64
- Reset MS Store
- Run SFC and DISM Scans
After all that I did not have any more ideas so I contacted Microsoft Support and they told me to try the following:
First they told be to run the following commands in PowerShell:
After that they told me to download the Windows 10 1803 ISO and run the setup in order to fix any problems with Windows.
The final thing they told me to try was running this command:

After doing all of that and talking to 5 different agents in the Microsoft Support Live Chat they told me to come here because they are out of ideas, so here I am.
Do any of you guys know what I can try in order to fix this issue?
