Having it be in the game, and having them drive similar are two different things. We already know that Horizon does not really use the same level of physics as FM, so what’s to stop them from just slapping on the physics of another light car like the Lotus and just calling it good for the 360 version? Frankly, since they are using the old engine for it anyways, it seems like it would be a lot of pointless work to bother with implementing an open-wheel system that the first game did not have. The game has a limited lifespan and potential on the 360, whether the stubborn ones choose to accept it or not.
There is a much wider variety and amount of games for the 360 than there is for the One. There is very much still a market for the 360 and I’m sure plenty of people enjoy playing it. In fact, several new games have still come out only for the 360.
We know the reason that open wheeled was not in FM4 and thus Horizon 1 was due to modeling the suspension physics and collision boxes. With Forza 5 that has changed.
Your point is valid, just cause it’s in both versions of the game doesn’t mean it will drive the same in both versions of the game or even the same as it does in FM5, but the main question of the thread was “Will there be open wheeled cars” to which my answer. YES!
I don’t have a problem with things being in the XBone version that aren’t in the 360 version. Unless the studio doing the port to 360 can make it work, leave it out. I’d like to think Playground Games has been able to do everything they want with the XBone version, why compromise it just because we’re being nice to a nearly 9 year old obsolete piece of hardware and its owners?
I say this as an owner of a 360 and PS3 still. I don’t see a problem with content coming to these platforms, but I don’t want to see these platforms limiting games any longer. They’ve held back plenty of games with a “console first” development from having better PC releases for years.
It is very unlikely. No game - with the exception of a few launch titles that had cross-platform season passes (Call of Duty, Battlefield, Assassin’s Creed) - have DLC that are transferrable between Xbox 360 and Xbox One platforms.
For the sake of the setting, I’m not going to consider race cars.
There’s really four big items in open-wheel track-day cars; an Ariel, a Caterham, a X-Bow, and a BAC Mono. Forza already has 3/4 of those.
Other possible additions are fairly small- Caparo T1, Plymouth Prowler… not a lot come to mind.
So is it worth working Open Wheel into the game for the sake of 4-6 cars that would cause all sorts of issues with the 360 version (maybe)? I’d say no.
I wouldn’t rule them out for the XO, since they are being built from different groundworks. From my understanding, Playground is doing the XO version from the FM5 frame, and another separate company (Sumo) will be doing the 360 Version from the FH1 frame. No reason Playground can’t include some of the track funzies on their end.
A two tier system would work, there is a significant cost difference (£10/15 around $15/20) between One and 360 games, maybe in that respect a two tier system for included cars isn’t that unlikely. Personally for reasons of physics/fidelity/function for me it’ll be an xbox One purchase!
It will be fun to have Forza primary cars that we always cool yea sure, but add some diversity to this one ! The open wheel cars that are street legal like the Ariel Atom, Bac Mano, Caterham and KTM will add more fun to the game, not everyone wants to always drive a Muscle or exotic car all the time.
At a guess, I’m going to say that seeing as it is the same physics model as FM5, yes, there could well be open wheeled cars like the KTM X-Bow and the Caterham…
For FH2 on 360 you have to look at what Sumo Digital has done for past games they have done F1 ports for the PSVita and the 3ds so I think they could work the engine of FH1 for open wheel suspension.
look at Sumo digital’s game list it is quite respectable, quite a bit of racing games. But I can’t wait to see what they do
XB1 and the 360 version are being done by 2 different teams. So fair to say there will be differences. I would expect that the arial and krossbow will be in the XB1 version. Im personally just happy that a 360 version is coming out at all. I wish all racing games coming out, were doing the same. So instead of complaining about fairness, Ill just stick with thankifull.
