Hopefully the soundtrack is more like 3 and 4!

Because the Titanic soundtrack used in FM5 is so much more fitting to car culture than rock or electro. /s

LOL

Seriously Turn 10, what were you thinking.

“It’s our goal to turn future Beethovens into car lovers, and car lovers into future Beethovens.”

Agree with those that have mentioned the “radio station” approach. It’s nice to be able to pick different stations based on my mood and be able to turn it off when I just want to hear the engine roar!

I’d really like it if we could stream our own music via USB or network drive.
When I’m wearing my headset, in order to hear my own tunes, I have to crank it up so loud that I need to mute my mic or end up annoying the whole lobby. If the music streamed through the console, this would not be a problem.

The soundtrack for FM5 is terrible. Sounds like they used the score from a soap opera or some dramatic tear jerker film. I muted all the music very quickly. Drove me crazy. I don’t want to hear that stuff even in the menus. Certainly doesn’t suit a racing game at all.

GTA style radio stations would be okay, but need to have a deep playlist or it will get tiresome hearing the same songs over and over.

I love listening to my own music when playing Forza but I woukd like if we could maybe make our own soundtrack. I didn’t mind forza 5’s soundtrack but in my opinion l, Forza 2 was the best, especially the non lyrical songs like Gone Daddy Gone. I love that type of music in a racing game, something that really hypes me up is always good.

I want a soundtrack like Forza Motorsport 2. I’d rather not just have music with no lyrics, I want something I won’t turn off after a week of playing.

Or give me the Gran Turismo 3 menu music, love the songs in these older titles. Upbeat and awesome.

This is one area that I think T10/Microsoft are severely lacking when doing side by side comparisons of FM vs GT. In GT you can use the in game soundtrack or build a custom playlist from any mp3s you have loaded to your console.

3 was the best in my opinion, FM5 sounded like the music team was depressed. Its a racing game but it had action adveture, rpg music. Forza series in general needs music like from Zeds Dead and Calvin Harris or something like that. Bring back Lance Hayes for some thumping menu music, im sure the artist here suffered in FM5.

+1. Totally agreeing with you.

But even the classic OST’s in RPG’s are much better. The FM5-OST is really annoying and depressing. Otherwise it should have an internal player that streams your own music in the background while the game is running in full screen before the XOne is capable to have this feature on it’s own.

Like the original Forza had lol

I used to change over to the songs from my dad’s Chicago’s Greatest Hits CD (I burned it to the Xbox’s HDD) every so often to keep things from getting repetitive, and this was only possible with the power of the Xbox #1. Lol

FM1 wasn’t as good overall as FM4 is, but it’s definitely one of the best racing games ever, and it can still hold its own 10 years later.

I actually quite liked the FM5 soundtrack, puts me to sleep at night haha (not great when waiting in a lobby lol). But really I understood where they were trying to go with the FM5 soundtrack sounding all upmarket and such but I missed the upbeat tempo of the previous Forzas.

I really loved all soundtracks in Forza but my standout was the FM4 soundtrack. It was a great mix of originally composed music, hopefully they have something similar for 6.

Forza 2… was okay. I’ll admit I preferred FM5’s soundtrack to FM2’s simply because I find lyrics in music to generally be obnoixous. I don’t need to hear someone rapping about their relationship problems while I’m deciding how much camber to add to my Honda S2000.

That said, hearing Horizon Pulse & Bass Arena in the garage menus for the Horizon series wasn’t too bad. Maybe it helped that it was somewhat drowned out in the background rather than loud, front and center like in FM2.

Yeah, I was just listening to FM2’s soundtrack on YouTube earlier and it’s all over the place. Whereas FM1, FM3, FH1, and FH2 have a really cool and consistent vibe throughout the entire game.

FM1 nailed that early 2000’s car culture vibe, and its entire SFX package is still one of my all time favorites. I don’t know what they were going for with FM2, and the few songs I liked were actually just bad edits of FM1 songs. FM3 did a great job providing “a world that consists solely of cars” atmosphere. FM4’s menu music got really old really fast, and the in race tracks (aside from a few) were straight up awful. FH perfectly captured a Fall 2012 music festival atmosphere. FM5’s is okay, but it just doesn’t fit a car game. FH2 has variety and almost all of the songs are awesome, and it succeeds at providing that music festival atmosphere yet again.

I’d be happy with any soundtrack that doesn’t sound like FM4’s or FM5’s, but I’ve already seen a few gameplay videos of FM6 and it’s the same FM5-style dramatic orchestra stuff.

Anyone heard GRiD 1’s soundtrack? While it has that signature Codemasters game sound, I’d love something like it in Forza. A calm yet upbeat atmospheric soundtrack.

I would prefer a jazz funk or acid jazz soundtrack but Turn 10 would never think outside the box like that.

You know, having the game use an electroswing soundtrack when driving '30s and '40s cars would be pretty nifty. Pointless, but nifty.

Hmm, not sure if I’ve heard much of that genre… Got some good examples for me to listen to?

I don’t think anything can beat the original Gran Turismo’s dealership music

etc.

I guess being old i would rather have no soundtrack at all (i turn it off anyway) so i can fully enjoy all the effort put into recreating the engine/mechanical noise. The money saved could have been invested in more cars, or tracks, or in game features, or better developed menus or…

You really don’t know how game development works do you.
