before i start spamming this thread with holden propaganda, i need to complain a little bit.

first of all, this car is a holden, designed and built here in my home country of australia. it was rebadged in the UK as a vauxhall, and as a pontiac in america.

why is there a pontiac thread and a vauxhall thread instead of making it simpler for everyone and having a single holden monaro thread?

secondly, why does this car lose all of it’s votes when moved to the FM vote section? there was tonnes of support for the monaro race car in the other threads, but now all 240 of the votes have been removed once moved over here. this really isn’t fair.

thirdly, if the mods on this forum refuse to create a holden monaro thread, then why isn’t holden at least tagged on the thread? i can tell you right now, when an australian jumps on the forza forum, here to vote for aussie cars, they will search for the holden tag. not the pontiac tag, and not the vauxhall tag.

please sort this stuff out, as all many of us australians want is our holden monaro race car to be added to the new forza motorsport, not to have all these hurdles placed in front of it.

back to regular scheduling…a copy paste from the other thread.

instead of giving us the poorly modelled vauxhall monaro that we’ve had since FM2, lets get the original car in the game. the legendary holden monaro. there’s various ways to implement this car, but every option is worthy of the forza games.

first option is to add the holden monaro, that was reborn in 2001. powered by the LS1, and styled by the legendary mike simcoe. here it is parked next to the original HK monaro that we already have in FM7.

the next option is to add HSV’s interpretation (holden’s version of AMG), in the form of the HSV coupe GTS. here’s one being pulled over by the australian rozzers.

a beautiful example in devil yellow.

the final option, and the most interesting option, is the monaro HRT 427. this car was the homologation road car for national GT regulations in the early 2000’s. this was the worldwide standard for GT racing back then, equivalent to what GT3 is now. this car was basically holden’s answer to a 360 stradale, or a 911 GT3, but it was never sold to the public since would have cost holden too much to meet australian design regulations. this thing was very different to the standard monaro, powered by the same 7 litre 427ci out of the chevrolet C5.R race car, fitted with massive brakes and double wishbone suspension. the interior was stripped out for weight reduction and it produced almost 500 horsepower in road trim.

while the road car was cancelled, the car still raced in australian GT racing, with seriously impressive results. it dominated the bathurst 24HR races, and fought for wins throughout the years it raced. here’s a photo of the two 427 monaro’s beating 911’s, mosler’s, M3 GTR’s, and diablo GTR’s.

this car was australia’s answer to global GT racing, and while the car mightn’t have gone overseas to race at le mans like originally planned, the opportunity to rewrite this history in the new forza motorsport would give the australian community something really cool to smile about.

Please add this car. I’d like a GM V8 coupe between the F-body Camaro/Firebird and the more modern Camaro. It bridges the gap between the solid rear axle F-body and the multi-link modern Camaro and would be a great addition to the game.

I have one in real life and the it has been a disappointment every release since FM4 I think that I don’t get to tinker with one in FM. Please and thank you!

I’d personally prefer the 06 Pontiac GTO variant even though I know it’s originally a Holden.

Why not add the 2001 Monaro and the 2006 GTO. Both are different enough to add without “adding the same car twice”. And both would add to the in game lineup of two under represented brands. Just my 2 cents.

The Monaro should have a touring style in-house widebody, while the GTO should have the Rhys Millen kit, I think parts of it were even featured on the almost spot-on Motorsport 4 model of the GTO.

This car was going to be in FM7, but scrapped.

Bump to add the Holden Monaro and Pontiac GTO in update 15. Especially since that update will be about Australian cars.
