I haven’t experienced being disconnected from the game during a race many times. Somewhere between half, and one dozen times in my total time playing (about one month). But it does have a highly suspicious pattern to it.
It’s always in a team event for starters. Which seems logical to me. That would suggest it’s got something to do with lag issues. Perhaps my absurdly expensive yet unsurprisingly failing National Broadband Network (Australia) is doing it’s usual dance of the rubber band and my connection to the event server is the problem, and so I get kicked off. That would seem logical were it not for the rest of the pattern.
Because it always - and I know it seems an exaggeration to say “always” - when I’m in a team event where after an uncountable number of attempts where I get shafted and shoved off the road and forced to miss checkpoints by Red Team AI Arsetars, where finally I find myself getting a break and actually get enough clean air to make a decent run of it and by some divine intervention wind up with a team full of people who understand that clean teams win races and traction is a good idea, where we actually have scored enough in the first two races that we are a shoe in for a win and in the last race are taking 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6…THAT…THAT is always the moment. No other time. Never when I’m having a race of amplified fecal resonance. Never when I’ve driven off three cliffs and started a side business in historic rural fence removal. NOOOOOOOooooo. Only then, when I’m just about to win, do I get that wondrous message. “You’ve been disconnected. Try again Later”!
Fortitude and restraint.
