Hey guys and gals forza

First post here
Can you guys help a fellow human out??
I have a couple cars that I had bought up (playlist cars) problem is I can’t sell them for the max auction house prize (sounds greedy, I know, I really want to buy some of my favourite cars).
Can you guys (and gals) suggest a few tips to do so??
Thanks a lot
[Also would love to make a couple friends along the way if possible]

This answer depends on a few things, and we’d need more detail to extrapolate what you’re seeing.

Such as:
What car are you selling.
Where did you acquire it?
When did you acquire it?
What options are you getting for MAX Buyout when listing?

One of the cars I want to sell is the 512TR, the max buyout is capped at 2.1M if I’m not mistaken (for me).
I have a couple and I had bought them at the auction house, recently acquired.

Legendary Tuner

That is a fairly accurate listing price. Today… How long ago did you buy that and hold it?

Otherwise, Not every car you see listed at 20m is worth that, and as another poster mentioned, if the car you bought was listed at 20m it must have been because it had a Legendary paint or Tune applied to it that allows the seller to put that price on it.

Today, I think there are only a hand full of legitimate 20m cars that anyone can list, but - you basically have to have been playing this game for a very long time to have cars that have not yet hit BSP or come around again.

A great example of this as of this post today: would be the Subaru Brat.
It has only been a seasonal reward once, and has not come back around yet, and it has not been in the BSP Yet. If you have this, it will list for 20m across the board right now.

Once it hits again, or the BSP this happens: It can still list for 20m but you’ll notice that you can drop the max down to 11m or so as opposed to it sticking at 20m buy out and not allowing you to move it.

What you need to be doing is figuring out cars that are still rare like this, and try to snipe them and re-sell higher - Actually no, don’t do that at all… just go play the game, do accolades, do missions/ stories win cars… have fun…

So basically pump out good tunes
But how do you get that status??

Well I initially played this game for the fun of it but then I mostly play it for the cars because let’s be honest, the game is good but there is no story or magic to it, nothing that keeps me hooked up to it
Anyways I had bought it a couple months ago
Also you are saying I can list a car at 20M if I have a legendary tune or paint on it??

Last I checked I got 29 downloads, sheesh

This is a huge problem going back to FH3 when the online economy was added to Horizon. Back then there were hard caps on how much cars could be listed for on auction UNLESS you had the magic legendary status. This led to a situation where actually rare cars could only be listed for a fraction of their value by most players and the legendary cartel would snatch them up for figurative pennies and relist them for 20mil.

This got so bad that in FH4 that the devs eventually allowed the max non-legendary price to rise over time if cars were selling quickly at the current max buyout, or fall if cars sat on auction for a long time (like common auto show cars).

This helped a little but is still a major problem for extremely rare cars since there’s not enough auctions for the price to rise with this system so non legendary players still get the short end of the stick and are unable to list these cars for their actual value and the legendary cartel still makes the auction house a miserable place.

Yes, once you get legendary status you can put a throwaway tune/custom paint job on a 20k auto show car and list it on auction for 20mil.

So I need to have legendary tuner status to list them and it won’t work if just put a tune from legendary status holder…
Any tips on how to get the legendary tuner status???

I think most people got their legendary status in the early days of the game spamming out low effort custom liveries since the auto show defaults to showing you those over actual manufacturer paints (terrible game design IMHO) so they made single color ones to get players who didn’t know better to choose those instead of the actual paint. I got lucky with that once in FH4 when they added Mitsubishi to the game and several new cars hit the auto show and I got hundreds of downloads and uses for a very simple red paint job. At this point in the game look for the rare cars coming up each week and make a paint for those since a significant number of players will be getting those for the first time and some will want a custom paint job.

The way to do it for tunes is to make tunes for the weekly challenges, especially the trial and pr stunts. Name them trial/playlist/forzathon so they show up in the search. Can also do tunes for the rare car of the week.

Also when FH5 launches on PS5 later this year there will potentially be a massive influx of new players which is the perfect time to make a bunch of paints and tunes for popular cars.

I know you have explained the paint part, can you explain it a bit more??
Also PS5 players still haven’t gotten FH5 have they??
Thanks a lot

Thanks a ton for the help guys (and gals)

Also
I bought a STO and want to sell it.
Problem is I can only put it up for 12 when there are cars for 20 as well 16.
Even if you don’t have legendary tuner status shouldn’t you able to put it up for 16M??

Not necessarily. Because the prices are dynamic, they change and it may be that when the 16 million price was current, those cars could be set at that price. As the set price gets reset to 12 and you want to sell that’s the max you can ask for it.

You have also to remember when you look at buy out prices that the seller could put the time to up to 24 hours.
The cars you have seen for 20 and 16 maybe have been for sale during a long time. The buy out prices could have been 20 but dropped since the auction started as BurmaEk wrote.
And remember the AH takes their share. If you sell a car for 20 you only get 17 whatever ranking.
There are few cars that you could sell for 20 or 16 whitout being high ranked tuner.
Wheelspins cars could also be a good deal and a terrible one if it’s a duplicate.
Try to remember some prices in AH for the wheelspins cars before you chose to keep it or resell it.
Search in AH for a specific car and set the buy out price low and do some searches if you don’t get ha find, rise it to you find a bargain and do a buyout not bid.

That’s how a bought the sto
Problem is buying two of those and an SVJ has bankrupted me
i put the max time at 24 hours too

My actual advice: At the end of the day, you should be playing the game, not “playing the AH”
…this not “Barrett Jackson Auction Simulator” and flipping cars is a fools errand and some of the worst advice I see given to players asking how to make more CR. Half the info on it is years old, and prices and rare cars are now inaccurate for the current markets. As you’ve seen, the market is only playing You.

If I could offer any one piece of advice to anyone looking to know how to “get all the things” it’s this.

Go play the game.
