I really want to preorder but i just cannot bring myself to do it until i know i will be able to play the game. having to disable all audio to try the demo and then enabling it to only get the cut scenes to have sound is not my idea of enjoyment. no point in trying to play early if all i get is a bunch of hassle like the horizon 3 release. it still gives me trouble to this day always erasing presets and other small but nuisance things that add up. when i see a game i can click play and it actually works then i will gladly give my $100 to you. best of luck i look forward to the game when its actually ready…to be honest with forza horizon 3 the biggest issue i had was with the Microsoft store but they will neve fix that crap, its slow, clunky and pretty much garbage, i bought minecraft on there and to this day i have yet to be able to get it to launch no matter what i do cause i cant even get it to download and i dont wanna reinstall widows 10 for the 3rd time because of the store. too much crap connected together causing too many issues
I’ll be honest with you, I’ve learned my lesson to never again pre-order a Forza game for the PC. The Horizon 3 launch was bad for the PC, heck for 3-6 months the game was still unstable as hell, but all that was put aside when Forza 7 launched even worse (i got a refund for that excuse of a game). To be honest, there’s barely any point in pre-ordering in my opinion. The car packs from past Forzas were at least for me, kinda meh and I ended up using less than 5 cars out of all their DLC’s. If this one ends up being just as bad of a port, at least you won’t waste more money on it than the base game.
I’m on the same boat. The demo might run fine, but that is no guarantee that the full game will be like that. I literally have just a few hours before making a decision.
Just like they said with FM7. Different dev maybe, but it is still the same game engine and FM7 not only showed the same performance issues as FH3, but it was even worse.
Bro, it’s super well-optimized now compared to previous Forza games. This is coming from someone who wasn’t even able to launch Horizon 3 on PC for days due to some inexplicable bug. I’ve had constant crashing and framerate issues with Horizon 3 since launch. It keeps setting my recommended graphics to “medium” despite having a 1070.
Meanwhile, Horizon 4. It recommends Ultra, 1080p, 60fps, and guess what, not a single hitch through the entire 3 hour demo. So I have absolute faith in this game.
How is this any different to having to buy EA games from Origin, or Ubisoft games from Uplay? Sure the Microsoft Store has a lot of improving to do but you can’t blame them for wanting to avoid paying someone like Valve a massive cut to distribute the game.
Back on topic; the only issues I’ve been having are infinite load screens, but that could be down to my odd setup (RAID0 SSD cached HDD) and some other games have had similar issues. I’ll keep tinkering but I was happy with the performance once I got the game to load. I have pre-ordered with confidence knowing that my issues seem to based locally. Sucks that some people are having real issues though. i hope they get sorted before the full release.
The crashing on start-up is being caused by some types of anti-virus’ real-time monitoring. I’m guessing that the anti-cheat software that FH4 is using is being detected as malicious and the anti-virus is terminating the game. I had this problem and it is easily corrected but hopefully they can get a patch released to overcome the need to disable your AV scanning to run the game.
Nothing is full proof. Horizon 3 crashes on from time to time but it’s still awesome. I preordered because even if it’s a glitchy at start it’s gonna be awesome driving in a new area and in a Rally Beetle.
