If I race online in proper cars I’m lucky to have anyone finish within 10 seconds of me, not because I’m some god of gaming, but because I have no life and dedicate more time to Forza than any man should, and because I only really race B class, where I have hundreds of cars I’ve spent hours tuning each and have practised most tracks in the rotation. If I use my Escalade, I usually finish 1st by a tiny bit, or in the top 3, I’d rather give an s2k a run for his money and finish 2nd than finish 1st with no challenge. I’m sure you could beat me in my land whales mind you. (when a fast driver enters the lobby this changes, there’s a few drivers who are faster than me no matter what)
My Escalade, etc, are for tighter tracks like Bugatti circuit btw, generally, they have more grip at lower speeds than high speeds and handle better, they’re slow in a straight line because low weight is the most efficient way to build an acceleration car, my 2 ton land whales are almost always held up in the corners and demolished on the straight. The game is unrealistic, and the physics work in such a way that allot of these cars can utilize their grip better than you’d expect.
It’d be nice if someone from Turn 10 gave us an official reason as to why these cars were removed. If it’s because of wreckers, then I call B.S. because I’ve rarely been taken out by these cars, and usually if I do, it’s because of driver error (i.e. missing the brake point, losing control).
However, the amount of times I’ve been taken out by a Honda Civic EK in D-Class, or a BAC Mono in A-Class is staggering. I feel like the community has been split further apart because of this decision. Now because of this, my D400 Vandura is useless. I have won many races CLEANLY with it, even had a good battle with an Escalade once, and it was ahem CLEAN.
So to conclude, the vehicles weren’t the problem. The drivers are. And if you want to blame the vehicles, go right ahead, because you’re just lying to yourself. You all know full-well that the true wreckers drive leaderboard cars and ruin the race for others with them. This was a silly decision, and I am not happy. I’m angry that at least 10 of my vehicles I used in D-Class hoppers are now useless. In a way, I’ve been somewhat short-changed when it comes to DLC cars like the Limo that I can’t use anymore.
Turn 10, please bring these cars back to online. This did nothing beneficial for those who enjoy building something good out of an otherwise silly car. You have been misinformed, and the wrong people suffered for it. If necessary, I will begin submitting replays to Turn 10 to show that the larger vehicles were not the problem when it came to online racing.
Yes I am going to come out and say it that there is a Stigma given to the large vehicles of the game being “Wrecker’s Only”. I didn’t make it up but, it is there. And I can give you almost certain proof of it. A few weeks ago one of the leagues were a U.S. C-Class Ghost League. I do not know if I ever saw anybody take a Limo, Van, Truck, etc. With the exception of the Willys Jeep. (And I played in this league a lot because I know I finished 2nd in the Americas and I think 5th overall.)Why because folks knew they were probably not going to be good enough to keep up in these bigger cars and fhey could not use them as battering rams with hopes of getting towards the front.
I do not know when T10 removed these types of cars from Public Lobbies. But, if it was after this League maybe they used the League to gather data in making a decision to remove these vehiclss from the Public Lobbies? And possibly the amount of videos that were submitted for review were dominated by people using these vehicles?
I am not saying it is wrong to remove them, nor am I saying it is right to remove them. Just bringing up some thoughts on the reasoning behind T10’s decision to remove them.
Except we don’t drive dogs… dogs are living beings, they make decisions based on instinct. Vehicles in a video game are 100% controlled by the player, it’s not like wreckers trained their cars wrong and now they have a mind of their own.
Even when they are not intentionally wrecking they are just moving obstacles to race against. They removed the 76 F1 cars from R because they were too fast and too small compared to the other ones, the same should apply to suvs, trucks etc for being too big and too slow (for the most part) in the lower class lobbies
On some tracks they are to fast, but others, especially recently, have found. Ew cars that take the top spot, that mclaren can am car for instance is just as fast or faster on a few tracks
The cars that have been banned are not for racing and cause accidents even if the driver is not a wrecker. They are not compatible. The Limo goes through the chicane and blocks the track. The thing should not even be competitive due to chronic understeer.
If these cars must be in the game open up a separate C or D class lobby for the vans, limos, trucks and SUVS.That would be fun IMO.
Whether you think they should or shouldn’t be competitive means nothing, because they can be. And the Limo is the most extreme example, your argument doesn’t work for the Transit Van, or even the Escalade, which are closer to the size of the cars banned. The Impala, Wraith, some of the Audis, BMW’s, etc, are longer and wider than some of the cars that have been banned.
Turn 10 likes to talk about the realism of setups, tire tech and how close the cars are to reality. In reality if you chose to build any of the Vans,SUVs or Limo as a race car it would probably need 200HP more to make it close to competitive. The vehicles mentioned have inferior aero, high centre of gravity or a massively long wheelbase.Even if you shed the massive weight they should not be competitive with cars with a similar power to weight ratio. If you want to see how uncompetitive a limo would be in a racing environment go to your local oval and see how slow they are. They are the exact opposite of Forza and everyone tries wrecking the slow old limo.
I am not against these non “motorsport” vehicles being included in the game but they have taken the online game more in the direction of Mario Karts where people use the cars as weapons.
Congrats to you for enjoying these vehicles.Bet you cannot wait for the hearse, fire truck and CAT truck to arrive in Forza 7.
We did indeed make the decision to remove a certain number of larger vehicles from MP – mainly to remove some of the larger “weapons” that certain players, intent on ruining MP races, have been using. While we believe this is going to make a better racing experience for the majority of players online, I recognize that not everyone is happy with this decision. To that end, we are looking into creating a MP hopper in the future where these vehicles will be allowed to participate.
Thank you! It is a step in the right direction. Hopefully some more MP tweaks coming! There should be a place for everybody: Wreckers, cutters, drifters, and clean racers…just not the same place.
I appreciate the reply, this seems like a fair compromise, even though I disagree with the other side of the argument, we can’t get everything we want just because we disagree. Though I don’t think it’ll be the same as it used to be, it’ll do.
I honestly believe you should be looking into alternative methods of stopping wreckers though, such as ghost mode for over lapped cars, ghost mode for the first 10 seconds of the race, and grid positioning based on your finishing position last race. If you implemented some of these ideas, and they hopefully worked, perhaps we could bring it back to the way it was.
To me, this reads as a very fair and tactful approach to the issue at hand. Though, I think greater fairness will only be realized when these vehicles do, in fact, get their own arena for racing. Restricting content usability without providing an alternative means to enjoy the game’s full inventory of vehicles via public multiplayer means there is more to be done to ensure all of Forza’s assets can be used in every aspect of the title’s services.
