Graphics - Mouse Icon stuck on screen

Since the last OS update I constantly have a mouse icon stuck on screen. I don’t have it on the home screen, just when I fire up the game.
It’s usually stuck in the TL corner which can be ignored though why it’s there at all I don’t know. On a couple of occasions it’s been stuck right in the middle of the screen which I have no option to remove (tried firing up a controller but it still won’t move) other than to shut down and restart the game.
I’m on a series X console and using a wheel, not a controller.

I know there was a troubleshooting thread on this from a couple of years ago that suggested using a console would solve it but I’ve only ever used a console and it still appears. As I said, only started after the last OS update for the console.

As you can’t reply to posts on troubleshooting threads ( for some weird reason ) I’ve had to create this new topic. Max will probably move it to the correct place, which is fine, but why aren’t we allowed to reply directly to a troubleshooting thread instead of having to make new ones ?

Mouse icon on console? Now that’s wacky.

Yeah - it’s weird. You can use one in certain menus but only with a controller and usually on the Home screen App stuff.
No idea why it’s started this unless just another bug in the OS update.

I usually start the console with just the power button and no controller switched on, so really odd. Especially when it doesn’t show up on the home screen, just when the game gets fired up. Even in game, if I hit the X button to see home page menus, it disappears but comes back when I return to the game.

Are there software updates related to your wheel in the same way there are updates periodically for controllers?

No - the wheel itself never gets any updates. The console, either my old One S or this series X even recognises the wheel as any sort of controller. The wheel has never really been properly supported by consoles.

Really? So under your console settings for Devices, it doesn’t recognize the wheel?

What I don’t get also is why the wheel isn’t properly dedicated to Xbox.
The G920 is supposed to be the xbox version of the G29 which is the PS version. Basically the same but only for one or the other console.
My headset for example is a dedicated xbox version, so it works similar to a controller in that it can power up the console just by turning on the headset. The wheel, though the xbox version doesn’t do this either.

It is recognised as a wheel in mapping in game but not in the xbox main menus. The console (any version) never sees it as a wheel in devices, just some random attached peripheral.

It’s why I mentioned in another thread that it was time MS, T10, PGG and Logitech all got round a table to sort this mess out. It’s been an issue for about the last 6 years but things have just been getting steadily worse with OS updates for a while now.

Probably not a lot of help but I recall someone having the same or very similar issue in FH4. I want to say about 2 years back ? If I recall it cleared itself up but not sure. Might also have been an occasional repeating issue. Maybe there was a fix/solution found then that might work if you can find it in the FH4 forums ? Good luck !

Yeah, like I said in the first post, I saw a thread in the troubleshooting area from a couple of years back that mentioned this but as you can’t reply to these posts I had to make a new thread so that Max can move it when he gets round to it.
The mouse icon issue only started with the last OS update. The lack of e-brake has been going since the Oct 22 OS update, the others, ever since I got the xbox and wheel in 2017.

Sorry for the length of time in this reply - was in the middle of an eliminator whilst typing. Still got 2nd though…

OK so it gets weirder - still in game, switched to TV - back to xbox - mouse icon now in middle of screen !!! Can’t move it even with a controller.
Quit game. Restarted - mouse icon back to TL corner.

See the thread has now been moved to troubleshooting by Max as expected. At least I still get to reply - for the moment.

We locked the old FH5 Troubleshooting section when the Troubleshooting Hub launched so that we can see fresh reports. I also enabled replies on the FH5 Known Issues earlier this month.

I did add a pin about the THUB in the FH5 Troubleshooting section and changed the section description with that info but if it’s still confusing I may need to move the section to Archived so they’re still available for reference. If an older post has relevant information you should still be able to include a link to it here.

Thanks for the clarification Max. I did try to reply to the posts in the other older thread on this earlier today but the reply option wasn’t available, hence the reason for the new thread / topic.

Hopefully the reply option on the troubleshooting area will remain available to avoid new threads on similar issues. That will enable fresh reports on the same issue being logged without the need for more cluttering of the discussions threads.

N.B. this was never meant to be a voting thread. Just a report of a problem.

I also had the same reply issue on another thread in the past that I recall you also had to move for the same reasons but on that occasion it was made the main thread and the older posts moved into mine.

FH5 Report New Issues will always have Create and Reply enabled so users can raise their own issues here. The point of voting is to encourage other players to vote if they have the same issue, so the team is aware of how many players are affected.

No worries about the voting thing - it was just something that I wasn’t bothered about.

The point I was making though was that the troubleshooting area was never reply-able until just now. As said, I tried it earlier this afternoon and it wasn’t possible to reply on the original thread. Again, hopefully this option remains to avoid unnecessary new threads.

Well that took a while to move. Or for some reason getting another message on an old message ?
As far as the mouse icon on screen issue goes, as said not major - unless it gets stuck in middle of the screen. Usually stuck in TL corner so no biggie.

Don’t know why it suddenly started though.
Workaround so far is to X back to home screen whilst game is starting (or after it loads - no diff), go into settings, exit back to game then continue loading and it disappears. just an annoyance really so again, not looking for votes on it.
If it happens you can clear it easily but just wondered why it had started.

What I REALLY need fixing Max is the lack of E-Brake - that’s a game breaker. Won’t go into it again here - there’s numerous posts and tickets describing the issue. Just want it fixed cos it’s been going on since Oct 2022 so 7 months for something that was working OK before the OS update crash in Oct and all still OK in other Forza titles. Just FH5 that’s become infected with the bug.

@AAORTA does this mouse icon issue persist after recent updates?

It hasn’t happened since the last xbox OS update of 14th June. Later FH5 update from yesterday didn’t change it.
The loss of E-brake / Clutch that happened last October xbox OS update has never been resolved.
I have had no E-Brake since last October.
