Going to drive real Ferrari 458 Italia

Just had to share with people that know about cars.

I signed up to drive a real Ferrari 458 on a racetrack on April 13th!! I can’t wait.

Its 3 laps at a nearby racetrack. Cost me little over $200 bucks but I figured where else would I ever be able to drive anything like it not to mention a car that has been called the greatest car in the world.

Anyway, I’m super excited, just wanted to share.

Congratulations mate! Take some pics for us.

I have always wanted to do this. Should be $200 well spent!

Well its been a week since an amazing time driving the Ferrari 458. I have to say first and foremost I am very let down by Forza. The car drives nothing like the real life car in the game. The Ferrari 458 Italia is the best way to describe a go kart that is super fast. The steering and brakes are so direct and connected to the road you really do feel one with the car.

I spent some time with the Forza 5 version of the car and added some mods to make it like the real life car. Without doing any suspension tuning the closest thing to the real car is by adding the following mods.

-Race tires
-Front tires 1 size larger
-Rear tires widest possible
-Front and rear wing.

Only tuning I did was turning up the front downforce on wing all the way up and the rear wing about 9/10s to max.

I’ll try tuning the suspension later but the rear suspension is too firm in the game and needs to be softened but I have not adjusted to see what the results will be yet.

I really don’t understand how Forza can claim to be any type of simulator when the car is so far off its real life counterpart.

Honestly after driving that car I want one now, its great motivation to keep my business growing until I can afford one.

Forza doesn’t claim to be a simulator. It’s has simulation elements in it, but it is no where near trying to be or being a simulation racer. It’s more of an arcade game with simulated physics. It takes tire and minor suspension physics, realistic car statistics and power/torque elements. But it doesn’t attempt to be as realistic and difficult to drive as real life or games like Assetto Corsa or rFactor try to do. Turn 10 went for an all around racer. One that hardcore drivers would like and one that arcade racers would enjoy. Whether it works or not, I don’t know. I enjoy some arcades but this is much harder than an average arcade game. But I haven’t played any real simulation racers so I can’t really say on the other side. I have played Gran Turismo, but I wouldn’t call that a simulator. Doesn’t feel real at all. But Forza, I think, has a good balance between arcade and simulation that makes it feel different than most racers. The graphics and camera movements also make the speed feeling come out, the realism feel out there and the overall effects put the game together well.
