as the title say, i’ve just finished my General Lee Livery replica for the Dodge Charger RS.
What do you guys think?
(Sorry for the poor quality of the pictures but, until they fix it, i’m not gonna use photo mode…too blurry and weird so i’m stick with drone mode for now)
If you like it, it’s uploaded and free for you to use it ^^
You can also find the single paint group for the Rebel Flag, the number on the side (bot sides) and for the General Lee Name on the roof (even tho that one is kinda went out a bit crappy >.<)
I like it and I’ll probably grab it (or the groups) next time I’m on. Thanks for offering it.
But if you don’t mind a tiny bit of genuinely meant critique, isn’t the ‘01’ usually a little slimmer? It’s mainly the ‘0’ I’m referring to here, something just seems a off.
I’m going from memory, so forgive me if I’m wrong (and I probably am as it’s really late here), it just looks like this ‘0’ has ate a few too many pies LOL.
Every kind of: suggestion, opinion or even criticism (as long as it is constructive) is widely appreciated and gladly welcomed so, don’t worry about it at all.
I usually work by keeping the original model in my second screen (at least a side, a front, a rear and a roof view of the original car) so that i can measure myself better with dimensions and placing and if you look at this picture:
the width of the zero, compared to the side mirror, the handle of the door and the side blowers positions, seems to be pretty accurate, tho i totally agree, the zero came out a bit too “fat”.
It’s probably related to the interior circle rather than the outer one. I’ll try to fix it when i’ll have the time ^^
Really thanks for your observation, and i’m glad you liked it
Yes, I agree that it’s the interior circle. Everything else is spot on. It’s definitely not much but when you look at movie/TV cars a lot the smallest thing becomes noticeable. One of the resons I like Forza is the ability to create those typea of cars. I have a few designs planned myself.
It’s always great to see people open to genuine critique. I know from my own experience that an outside POV is always important.
Good work and I look forward to ‘wearing’ it LOL.
I love this feature too ^^ (since Test Drive Unlimited 2) and i’ve so much ideas in mind right now that i don’t even know where to begin with
I’m currently working on a BMW M4 Livery (i’m not gonna spoil what it is tho XP) and i’m actually noticing one, annoying, thing:
if you create a new vynils group (for example a logo of some sort, with letters on it) it became a bit more “low resolution” compared to actually create it directly on the car but maybe i’m just screwing it with too much bigger size during the creation of the group, i actually don’t know.
Anyway, i’m gonna post whatever work i’ll do in the future looking for some good advice and new techniques ^^
I bought a Charger for your design and it looks real good.
I might actually get around to posting some designs myself but I need a lot more practice. Haven’t been on Forza since FH1 and FM4 as I never got an X1.
Having some issues with lining shapes up exactly in the vinyl editor at the moment. Why can’t the size relate accurately to position, it would make thing so much easier. But aside from that I have about 12-15 ideas, ranging from simple to really difficult. Hopefully some vinyls will turn up to help there. There’s two in particular I need that were available in the previous games.
Off-topic questions if you don’t mind: Are you on X1 or PC?
I’m on PC and I seem to be having a little trouble with the Adv. Camera on Right Stick. It doesn’t want to flip through the zoom levels when applying decals to the left side or the top/bonnet. All the other areas are okay. Are you experiencing this too? And is the Adv. Camera supposed to do anything else? Someone else said it might zoom slowly in too. What does it do for you?
I’ve posted about it in another thread here but haven’t got a response yet.
Thanks for your appreciation ^^
I’m on PC (never owned an X1) and yes, there are actually many issues with the Adv. Camera at the moment…its supposed to switch between 3 different levels of zoom and is working perfectly with front and rear view but, in my case, it never works with roof, left and right side (only yesterday it worked ONCE while i was doing the left side but when i switched to the other side, it stopped working again, I hope it will be fixed soon but, since there are much more urgent problems right now (optimization, performances etc) i think this is really low on their priority.
I honestly don’t know if that camera mode is supposed to zoom slowly or not, I’m kinda curious myself and it would be a really helpful feature indeed.
Anyway, if you need something in particular, ask and i’ll try to help you as best I can. The only problem is: if you use a vynil group that someone else created, inside your design…the game locks it permanently and you will not be able to share that design since it contains something that is not yours, that’s why i always try to create everything by myself.
I think i’m gonna upload my next work this evening (Italy here)…it’s a bit more complicated than General Lee, which is, honestly speaking, kind of easy.
Aha!! That’s all I was after - confirmation that it wasn’t just me. Thankyou kindly. I kind of knew it wasn’t me as it affected controller and keyboard but even then you never know.
From what I was told in the other thread and from memory: Clicking RS skips between preset zoom levels - Hold RS down and moving the LS should slow zoom - Hold LS down and move RS allows you to pan across the vehicle. That’s how it’s supposed to be anyway from what I gather.
Yeah, performance optimisation is the big thing at the moment. Mine’s not the best system but it’s not the worst either - everything on High, MSAAx2, no motion blur, unlocked fps. I set up a blueprint race through the Gorge yesterday, in the dark with heavy rain. It stuttered along at 6 fps when in the Gorge itself. Most of the other races have been fine for me, even night ones, I mainly get stutters, pauses and fps drops but it remains playable. That one pushed it over though.
Yeah, the locking thing is a nuisance but I can understand it. What I’d do is upload a version without that vinyl and hope people would get it themselves. The two I want are the wolf’s head logo from Airwolf and the eagle logo from The Fall Guy (yep I lived through the 80’s LOL). I love the Exige and do a nice dark blue paint job with white curved ‘underneath’, similar to the helicopter. For The Fall Guy I’m converting a Ford Raptor as we don’t have the actual vehicle yet. But both of those logos are extremely complex, way beyond my skill level.
I’m also considering converting the Abarth 500 into Herbie as we don’t have the Beetle this time. Those are my immediate design plans.
EDIT: I probably missed it but is there a way to rate designs?
There should be, since all my shared designs and vynils shows an “evaluation” from 1 up to 5 stars but i honestly don’t know how to vote 'cause i haven’t really looked at that part of the game yet, i’m more concentrated on creating stuff atm
I’m not a big pro-racing type of guy so I don’t really like “officials” livery on cars like Gran Turismo or Nascar or things like that.
I usually like to create car replicas of famous movies, common awknowledged car paints or more simply liveries that are not so common to see around ^^
I think, in the future, i’ll create a version of Bryan’s Skyline from 2Fast2Furious on an R34 (and maybe a GTR) even tho is kind of a “mainstream” thing, Herbie was on my mind aswell but i still have to pick the right car for that since beetle is not available, i’ll probably do an italian “Carabinieri” (Police) car (maybe Alfa 8c), a German Police car (the green and white livery) etc etc…as i said a few posts before: tons of ideas, i just have to sort them out a bit ahah
Your General gets a pass by me. Just one question, do you know about the crossed Rebel Flag/checkered flag that goes behind the rear window that was used in the first and fourth episode of the series? I notice none of the Generals on the auction house has them, I am just wondering if they are not widely known or if people are just choosing to omit them.
Actually, i didn’t remember those details, many years have past since the last time i watched the show but i’m glad you refreshed those things to me ^^ I’m actually going to add them as soon as my current livery is finished (I think i’m gonna finish it this evening).
Many thanks for the idea and i’m glad you liked my work
