Garage Speed/Lag

I recently purchased an XBOX ONE X because my older XB1 died in nearly a fiery death…it started spewing smoke out the vents.

I figured since XB1 X is a more powerful system that FM7 would be faster, especially when browsing the garage. Issues such as slow loading of the cars, designs taking forever to load, etc… Is still present.

Is this an issue most folks have? Does getting rid of cars and making your garage smaller help any?

Yes, sadly it is. The 4K 3D rendering of the cars makes for a bit longer load times than you would expect.

I get the lag you are talking about in the garage as well. The odd thing is sometimes it’s not there and other times it is. There does not seem to be any pattern that I have found either. I have about 875 cars but it has done this from the start with a much smaller garage count for me so I don’t think it’s due to many cars. I have had the Xbox One X from its launch to ( Project Scorpio Edition ) so It’s not a power issue in my opinion.

I have this, yes.

Most of us have it, and for at least 3 consecutive game updates T10 said they improved the smoothness of car selection. Nothing farther from the truth. Nothing has changed since day1, if not for the worse.

For me this is infuriating in multiplayer because between the unresponsive car menu, black screen and 3d background loading, I only have TEN SECONDS to change car between races. And if I also want to change driving aids, like enabling/disabling tcs, it won’t have any effect if the little circle next to your name keeps spinning (I guess it has something to do with the loading car)

Doesn’t make any sense, especially with the extra performance with the XB1 X as well as T10 having ample time to work on the issue.

I did notice today that the garage was running smooth but the ability to look up shared designs was moving extrmely slow…as in I counted a full 60 seconds waiting for shared design thumbnails to load before I exits out and tried again…I eventually have up.

100% agree with you. I especially hate it when I can’t decide between a car I know does well on a particular track and a car I want to test out on that track.

Even more infuriating is the fact that some one in 10 Turn had a bright idea to have a longer intermission period between races for the community cycled hopper ( a hopper in which you can’t tune or select a car) than the normal class hoppers.

2 times today I had my screen partially freeze. By this I mean I went to select a car , got to that car, selected it … and all I got was the loading icon. I could still hear the music/sounds of the lobby, still see the counter ticking down as normal, and the red counter flash when the race was about to start. Ended up having to completely exit the game to fix it.

The only thing keeping to this hopeless game is the introduction of race regulations. Took me over a year since release to buy this game and that was only because I thought Forza 6 was down for good … and I regret buying it.

The increased intermission time in this and a couple other lobbies I think was requested by the race marshal group for…reasons. While we understand it may be a little frustrating for you guys to wait bit longer, we sometimes need that extra minute or so to do what we have to do. Look on the bright side, it gives you a little extra time to run to the bathroom.

A few things here:

  • yes, one-x is noticeably faster than the OG-x, but the way fm7 is coded, there will be a little bit of lag in the car selection menu. move your game to an external and you can somewhat reduce this
  • if you browse during track loading, then it will really slow down - happens to everybody, even those on SSDs
  • select your car and driver gear before the race!
  • how’d you manage to burn out your og-x? mine would get warm to the touch but never this hot! i had it elevated on all four ends with medicine bottle caps though

My experience: moving the game to an external HDD will help. Enjoy your one-x and don’t worry about the little things.
