The FH1 and FH2 intros were done with live action shots. FH3 was in game with in game graphics. That to me speaks more to the game than some jump cut happy live action intro.
I just was expecting something awesome to really hook me up, FH2’s intro gives me chills up to this day, and you know, details are what make things great.
Not saying the game’s not awesome, it’s more of what we loved in FH2, almost no complaints
I really loved FH2s intro, and this video is close.
I think they might be too good, as someone stated befor. They pump you into the game aaaaaaaand then comes some rubbish voiceacting(in the German version at least) that kill it all the way. And the games can’t live up to.
Best intro in that case was FM4s with Jeremy Clarkson. That was a very nice intro into a great game and it fit together from the very first second.
While that’s an awesome video, no doubt! It doesn’t display the actual game footage. People (gamers) want to see what they are getting (graphics wise).
As for the FH3 intro, it’s setting the story, there will be a steep learning curve for those who haven’t (ever) played a Forza game before. Remember, the Horizon series was a gateway game to the Forza sim games. (No tuning in FH1!, much like TD1 & 2. K.I.S.S)
I actually liked it alot, (for those of us with good tv’s and surround sound) for me it was spectacular. And in addition the sound was astounding (good range of highs and lows) I was Un-impressed with the sound in F5 & 6, sounded canned (IMHO).
It’s easy to knit-pick when your not doing the work…
I guess to each their own. I liked that the Horizon 1 and Horizon 2 intros were live action. I’m not sure why people would care about seeing the game’s graphics in an intro… They’ll be playing the game in a couple minutes experiencing it first hand.
I agree on the sound though, the sounds in the demo were great and in Horizon 2 they were as well, while in the FM series it felt lackluster.
They use the intro for the advertising and promotional releases to prove how good the graphics are. You can’t get that by using a live action commercial. Gamers (oh so obvious a statement) are a finiky group. Most (but not all) are Internet commandos that will nitpick everything and anything. So, as a producer of a product (t10, msft, ect…) you put something out that best represents the product your putting to market…
But as to which had a better opening. I agree, to each thier own. We all are different people and have different tastes.
(Apologies for being long winded, just giving a different prospective)
I don’t know. That’s what this trailer is for… https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTSUgXkfooA An intro to the game shouldn’t have anyone’s bearings on whether they purchase it or not in my opinion, they should look at trailers or the demo and the intro should be there to get people excited for the game they’re about to play. FH2 intro still gives me goosebumps.
Gameplay is where it’s and hopefully I chose right on this one. FH2 had less than adequate gameplay but FH3 appears to have righted the ship to be a true successor to what FH1 started. Or I could be wrong and this is just another hey look at our visuals game…though I doubt it.
FH2’s intro was 110% full-of-itself, like it thought it was a French art film or something. So saccharine-sweet it made me gag. Just awful, would’ve given me diabetes if I hadn’t already had it since 1991.
Plus it showed off several cars which WERE NOT in the game (Droptop Chevelle, '78 Vette for example). FH3’s short, to-the-point intro is MUCH better I think.
