Gameplay - Partially Assisted Braking Working Like Fully Assisted Since Update 20

Bug Info: When in Career mode and doing any of the races and using the Partially Assisted Braking setting, this is behaving in the same way as Fully Assisted and causing your car to brake when behind other (A.I.) cars to avoid rear-ending them.

The same problem. I hope the developers will pay attention to this issue, as quite a lot of people use this feature.

I submitted a ticket to the developers and they emailed me and asked me to provide a video showing the problem, which I did. I haven’t heard anything for a couple of weeks so hopefully they are working on a patch for it. They just need to return it to the original behaviour and make the AI changes they made in update 20 not effect the player’s own car when using the AI assists. I think as the changes were made to effect the computer-controlled AI in races to stop them being so aggressive and ramming players from behind etc, this has had the unfortunate result of also being applied to players themselves when using assists as presumably the AI controls this.

I totally agree with you. The main thing is that this problem was not missed

Please fix this issue.

I received a reply today from Forza Support about my ticket. They are closing the ticket and marking it as solved as they have collected all the information from me and passed it onto the developers. They said even though it’s marked as solved, the issue is still under investigation with the developers.

Hopefully they will issue a fix with the next update as this has completely broken the Driving Assists behaviour making it very difficult to gain places in a race or win at all. The only solution I have found is to disable the Full or Partial Braking Assist and just leave ABS on and manually apply the brakes myself. This at least stops the car from constantly braking behind drivatars and allows you to get past but defeats the purpose of the braking assist altogether and means you now have to brake as normal.

I have some unpleasant news for you, the problem has not been fixed in the 21st update.

Yes I noticed. I think it’s doubtful they will fix it at all. I can’t see it being a priority for them and it’s not even listed in the known issues posts. I think it effects so few users as most people will play without the assists on and especially without the full assists on. I think the main focus was to to improve the poor drivatar AI that people were experiencing in races and that has had a knock-on effect to players who use assists.

Plus isn’t FM coming to end of life later this year? Certainly with the release schedule for the new featured Ringer Tour being not available for another 75 days (at time of writing), that puts that around September which for me would tie in with the game’s support ending in the last quarter of this year.

I agree with you that this problem is not in the first place for developers, but this is a commercial product, so they should take into account all the problems, even small ones.

There is a deeper problem in the system. Just completed a 2 lap race with AIs at LeMans. Was a pain passing with Partial Assist on but got it done. Here is my problem. The math doesn’t work. AIs fastest lap was 4:22 but it finished the race in 8:37. The racing just isn’t fun anymore. My Grandson use to love to take turns with me (he is the main reason for PA on). Now he doesn’t want to play anymore becase he can’t pass the AIs. Please fix your issues with the AI.

I agree, it’s just not fun anymore. It’s extremely difficult to pass the AI (although for some reason in practice mode, it is easier and the AI cars seem to get out of your way a bit more) and if you start a race in say 12th position, it’s almost impossible to win a race whereas before the update, it was a challenge but still at least possible to finish 1st and get some bonus credits.

Due to the recent events with the turn 10 team, this issue will never be resolved. It turns out that you have to pay money for the game and get the problems that the developers themselves created. I would like to send a warm greeting to Microsoft and the Turn 10 team for their attitude.
