Lets start by saying ive encountered this bug soo many times while playing forza horizon 5. Ive tried reporting it to support but nothing much other than generic answers to check my controller settings and what not. This thread will compile all of my evidence towards this glitch and hopefully finally one day it will get resolved. Ive also seen some players suggesting that they’ve experienced it in horizon 4 as well.
Please bare with me i will explain everything!
From my observation this issue occurs whenever the player has got a controller/wheel + keyboard connected at the same time. Asume these 2 factors are present.
!!! Also this issue gets resolved on its own when you restart the game. But if you hop back in, chances are after long periods of play you may encounter it again. Also you may not. Its not the most frequent bug to encounter but it does happen fairly often if “the player has got a controller/wheel + keyboard connected at the same time”
How to reproduce this bug?
I would be playing the game normally as any other day. Driving around the map, joining various racing events including online racing, single player events and so on… Then say i just finished playing an event, i get through all the screens that tell me how much xp ive earned and all.
Im spawned back into the open world. Then i would drive off to only realize something is wrong with my steering. And not only that as i approach a corner i would notice my car braking on its own and veering off to the left or to the right which makes the car uncontrollable. I’d try to drive in a straight line, the car veers of. I approach a corner, the car starts braking. I check my difficulty settings - no assisted braking/steering enabled.
Then i would go into cockpit view to only see my character’s steering animation have glitched as well.

I had footage of my own but ive lost it. But i intend to try and reproduce it and adding it up to this tread eventually. Ive seen this getting reported on reddit at least 5+ times so far the past year but obviously i cant pull out every single report as proof. And if someone has experienced this in horizon 4 feel free to mention it.
This is beyond just restarted the game - fix the problem kind of thing as it works but then as i said it can happen again. I dont expect this fixed for horizon 5 but lets not slap a bandage over it by saying to “restart the game”. As many of these issues would never be adressed if thats what we all do.
