When forza 7 is running (doesn’t matter if I’m in a race, loading, tuning, in a menu or even just in idle) Forza crashes to the desk top randomly, for no obvious in game reason.
It may be fine for an hour or may just do it in 5 mins.
I have x2 monitors and sometimes the second display will go black then the game will crash soon after but, often crashes with no notice.
Game will be fine the, Bam! black screen for 2 seconds and then I’m back at my desktop. No error message or evidence that the game was ever open.
My OS is on one SSD and Forza (due to its size) is on a second SSD (separate to my OS)
Never have issues with any other games including Horizon 3 crashing or anything like this.
Thanks in advance
I have attached some event logs from Windows and system specs. Can provide more system specs if requested.
Also, do you have any strange tasks running in “task scheduler” ? i read that if certain tasks start doing stuff while playing your game, it might crash your game.
right click start button - run - Taskschd.msc
on right side at “view” - “show hidden tasks” ON. and then on left side “task scheduler library”
And do you have any other programs running in the background? that might interfere with the game?
I had a look in the task scheduler and apart from the legit windows ones, most are for Nvidia (greedy bastards) I don’t want to disable any of them will-nilly so have written down the times these tasks are due to happen so can compare crashes against that.
I closed 99% of my background programs leaving mainly only window going and still had crashing issues.
That link, I know my RAM is OK, I have no virus, certainly not doing a reinstall of Windows. Is there a way to verify Forza’s file integrity? (without uninstalling, redownloading and reinstalling)
Hey, just wanted to let you know this isn’t an isolated issue. Event Viewer also shows nearly the exact same message when I crash to desktop as well.
I do want to say that you are 100% correct that crashes happen more in menus. Since the game released, I’ve spent about half my time racing and the other half making liveries. I crashed once in a race, and over 10 times while making liveries (now I end up saving after every decal I place, tedious).
Background programs are not causing it - I’ve went though and disabled every single program from start-up besides Nvidia drivers, still crash. I’ve disabled overclocks, same crashes. Specs: GTX 1080TI, i7-3770K.
I second this isssue. 2 sec black screen and then I’m back to desktop. No error message, checked the suggestion, nothing out of the ordinary. For me it happens regularly when I’m tuning, upgrading, painting a car. Happened once at the pre race screen, but even that was after upgrading a car.
Yesterday it worked fine, it crashed on me once. I had to restart the PC but didn’t think anything of it. Today starting it up I hit ENTER on spash screen and it crashed 20 times out of 20 then it randomly started working. So I started career and it crashed. Then took me a few more tries to get it open again and it ran smooth as butter for 4 hours. Then randomly as the race started and I shifted into second gear, it crashed. What is causing this? Its really heartbreaking to spend 100euro on something that might work. I have a 100 dollar rust bucket of a car in my barn but at least when I try to turn it on IT WORKS!

and a broken heart
I know the game has a huge RAM leak issue when in paint editor/modification sometimes that leads to a crash but this is not alway the case at all.
I have a screen on my keyboard so I can monitor my system and usually hovers around 55% ram but sometimes within seconds of entering pain or car modding it jumps up to 80-90% RAM usage then crashes a minute or two after. But this is separate to the random crash to desktop I’m/we’re getting.
the workaround this issue is quit steam or any other program that will popup. Wait for loading to actually happen (start screen, menus, upgrades, etc) DSR doesnt work for me but it may for you.
