[PC] Crash to desktop during races just like FH3

1 hour into the game and I’m getting random freeze and crash to desktop just like FH3.

i5 3570k, 1070GTX 16Gb

Game is installed on an SSD.

All drivers are latest.

Also getting jerky videos (odd), random slowdown when counting winnings, when you buy a car the spinning car judders.

I am having the same issues(PC). I freeze and crash often before a Multiplayer race, painting a car, getting winnings. I was able to play for about an hour straight this morning.

I have only been able to play for about 90 minutes so far out of the hours I have been trying.

PC specs-
I-7 6700K 4.5 ghz
Nvidia GTX 980 4 GB
16GB Ram
Running from WD Black 1 TB HDD

  1. Turn off “Game Mode” - “Game DVR” - “Game Bar” in Windows Game Settings.

  2. In Nvidia Control Panel - Power Management Mode - Prefer Maximum Performance
In Windows Control Panel - Power Options - High Performance Plan

  3. Do not run any Overclocking / monitoring / video capture software.

To diagnose the crashes :

Right click start button “Run” and type “Eventvwr.msc” (press enter) … then on the left side look at “Windows Logs” → “Application” or “System” . you should see Forza7.exe (or whatever the exe file is called) in there somewhere.
If FM7 is in there, click on it and look below at the “Faulting module” or a “Exception code”.

Suggestions are always appreciated but your suggestions are the same as what was tried if it’s “Just like FH3”. I for one like what I see of the games potential but because this is essentially the same issue that I have personally wrestled with to no avail in FH3 I will not be spending any $$ here.
Good Luck.

Does that help ?

I know, i just give possible solutions to the people that might not have much technical knowledge of Windows10. It’s either trying solutions or simply waiting for a FM7 patch / update (which idk how long that will take), and people are anxious to play the game.

It’s true that some of that might work for a few folks

I’m sooooo glad I didn’t take a chance on this one… I’d be extremely disappointed.

@Trackah123, Thanks for the suggestions. I made the changes that weren’t already in place and I at least made it through one race and the rewards without crashing.

My experience so far is much worse than FH3. I have a 2600k at 4.2 and a GTX 1070 (All drivers up to date) and get over 60FPS driving through the city in FH3 and have probably had less than five crashes since release. I already have more than that in FM7.

CPU0 pegged at 100%, just like it was for so many on FH3. I never really seemed to have this issue with FH3. All temps are fine.

Interesting that when I run the benchmark in FM7, it puts my video to 1080p. I run my 1440p monitor just fine in FH3.

Crashes have happened mid-race and post-race just before getting rewards. Rewind is always an adventure, sometimes actually showing the rewind and sometimes just jumping straight back. During a 10+ lap race at Maple Valley after rewinding most of the textures disappeared. Luckily I had the breaking line on so I was able to finish the race.

I’m getting the a crash aswell. Freezes and then boots me to desktop. Tried running on Medium, same thing.

RX480 4gb

The game has memory leak issues and its running out of ram thats why its crashing .
Try and use msi afterburner or any on screen display and youll see the ram usage climbing after some time until it maxes , and its especialy an issue when in selecting rims and selecting cars and upgrades in general that cause the biggest increase from what ive seen so far . If you cycle rims go left and right on them and youll see ram spikes which never go down until you exit the game .
What ive done so far is when i see my ram usage closing in on my 16gb that i have i just close and restart the game which makes things a little more predictable .

Edit : ive reported the issue a few days ago and others too so they are aware , we just have to wait for a fix now .

@scoobaru3

check this link, maybe you can find a solution here.

Thanks for that.
I had already switched off the MS game mode stuff.
I downloaded the Forza patch, a Win10 update and rebooted. Played a few games this morning ok but just crashed again.

Also I checked the memory using task mangaer last night and it hovered around 8 gb during 3 races then crashed so its not just a memory leak.

I personally don’t think it’s a forza thing. Gears of War 4 on pc is doing the same thing as forza 7 with only about 50% GPU using for me. I was running at one point 160 to 180 fps on Gears then they updated it a couple of weeks ago and now it’s unplayable on PC with less than 70fps

So last night this game even crashed on the Xbox S. Turn 10 and MS has got to get this fixed ASAP.
