I’ve been looking into getting a Wheel Stand Pro when I pick up a wheel (want to see an honest review about the Mad Catz one first-anyone know anything yet?). It’s basically an adjustable tube steel frame that you mount the wheel and pedals to and then you use the chair or seating of your choice. The reviews are fairly favorable and I like that it can fold up with the wheel and pedals attached for storage. I would ultimately love a Playseat but lack the space in a living room that already has a couch, loveseat, chair and ottoman.
Great idea! Have you seen the new playseat that is I guess nylon and folds up? Looks sort of like a beach chair on steroids. I think they are sold out everywhere.
I totally get the whole needing room for it too. Plus I have to hide the fact I like playing video games from my buddies. Their idea of “playing” is kicking some 3rd world warlord around in the dirt.
If you get the V2 version (non-deluxe), it comes with different pedal mounting hardware than the deluxe. I got the deluxe because its wider and will be better at supporting the 3-pedal set that thrustmaster is supposed to be releasing soon.
Wow thanks for getting me all that scoop I really appreciate it.
PS kick his a$$ seabass was something my long time, best friend who was killed last year used to say. We met in USMC boot camp, got the same MOS went through the same schools, courses etc like jump school dive school etc. I even dated his very hot wife’s hot sister. We both got out at same time he went to work for 1 agency I went to work for another. Then got back together after I worked at a civilian company here in Silicon Valley. We opened a company together that is doing well.
Anyhow, I mention it because every time I see your name it reminds me of him and I can hear him saying it. He was a great man. It is cool that you chose that as a screen name or whatever it is called.
If you like the wheel stand pro, I’d also suggest looking at the fanatec csl stand. Its essentially the same thing, but a little cheaper and works great.
It uses 2 poles to support the wheel instead of one in the center. Supposed to be a little more stable than the Wheel Stand Pro and of course with no center pole nothing will get in the way of your legs.
Ah, yes. I forgot about the GT Omega stand. It’s a bit more pricey, but much better seeing as though it doesn’t have a center pole which can really get in the way if you’re not a left foot breaker. My next purchase will definitely be the Playseat Challenge as I don’t have a lot of room where I game at and the option to fold it up and put it aside is a great feature for me.
