Future of FH - Japan

Better to anticipate the future.
No one has done this post yet, but I think it’s obvious.
One of the countries with the largest automotive culture together with central Europe and the USA.
It goes without saying that there are millions of users who want to see the series at least once arrive in this country.
Playground for favorites take us to Japan.
I know, it is not a country that allows great exploratory freedom. But we had 3 super open FH, now you can also make a more linear map with mountain passes and big cities.
For a chapter we will leave out suvs and off the road, it doesn’t seem like the end of the world to me.
A beautiful country like Japan deserves a chapter.
Thanks for your attention and the opportunity to express our thoughts.
Have a nice day guys.

Japan actually has a pretty decent off-road scene, so I don’t think it should be left out.

The AE86 actually has some pretty heavy rally heritage too. Not like any of the Initial D fans would actually know that.

Every single game community wants a game based in Japan.

Literally. I think horizon should not bend down on pop culture and lets face it most people are big time anime lovers or jdm fans and thats the sole reason they want Japan

Even if PG settles on Japan the expectations for that game will be HUUUGE. Horizon 5 managed somehow to disappoint with Mexico let alone Japan…

Also lots of people dont realize what the word horizon means…It suggests that the game will have wide open roads and beautiful scenery. I dont say it shouldnt have towns and many dense areas.
But if they go with Japan soo many people will be instantly disappointed because some area they wished it was there arent. Or they’ll cry because it doesnt have enough skyscrapers or something.

I constantly see people having enourmous expectations for this game or an expantion prior to it even being released. And a lot of these unrealistic expectations are tied to Japan. And some probably hyped up due to how Xbox/ pg / turn 10 tend to hype things up.

Let alone all the trouble i think that they’d go through just so they can have Japan as a location.

And horizon is not just JDM and weabos. I think there are lots of people in this community that dont want Japan. Not because its a bad place. Pop culture and all the associations…
You think horizon 5’s dialogue is cringe? Wait till Japan comes in.

we need a japan expansion for fh5 the game would be better for people play
i can’t stress enough about the recycled cars we have been getting in fh5 playground needs to step up their game and give us better cars

Well, to be fair, everyone expected Japan for FH5 then PGG and Xbox throw us a curveball and its in Mexico, but I get your point.

Ive been to Japan, so really dont want the next game set there, so not really everyone.

Japan expantion in horizon 5 would never happen.

Horizon’s expantions always align with the location of the base game. It would make no sense to release an expantion to a completely different part of the world. It just doesnt. Let alone the devs having to work from the ground up figuring out the culture and everything literally just for a 20 $ expantion?

People constantly wishing that one of the expantions should be about going back to colorado… And that is so ridiculous too. It totally brakes the structure of the game. Where its no longer horizon 5 in mexico but just horizon 5 someplace idk.
Why would they even bother so much with picking a location and doing all this work to make it feel authentic? And literally getting help from the gouverments. And trying to depict actual locations and buildings. This is tons of work and resources

Then we should be getting a Baja, Mexico City, or perhaps a Hawaii DLC.

Baja, Mexico City - love that

These ideas are waaaay better than japan expantion or hawai dlc but i guess they could introduce a location with lots of resort like areas thats still tied up to Mexico somehow

A Mexico City inspired expansion (w. a countryside and difficult terrain) could work massively, not only in terms of player retention and interest, but could improve massively the initial vision of FH5, having even more placer that are reminiscent of the mexican culture, an actual city for experimentation (that, depending of the community reception, would have its way into the next fh title), such as: how the city/countryside plays out, what narrative/gameplay feature are we going to follow, will there be new special events. Because, as we know, most of the times, an expansion is a place for experimentation for the devs, and its mostly guaranteed that a prevalent feature on an expansion would be introduced in the next game.

Your arguments don’t make a lot of sense. Yes, there are tons of obnoxious weeaboos clamoring for the game to be set in Japan to fufill their Initial D fantasies, but there’s also people like me who think Japan has amazing level design opportunities. Not to mention, I love JDM culture and there’s so many aspects to explore, especially when you factor in their automotive history outside of the classic JDM icons. (please Google the Yamaha 0X99-11, I need this car in the game so badly)

Japan has both cities and a countryside. The cities already have a great chance to be designed well, with tight back alleys, parking garages, and most importantly for me expressways that curve, dip, and split into other roads. The expressways can go throughout the entire map so players can quickly navigate it.

There’s also the countryside, with has tons of verticality to it with mountain roads, touges, and quaint small towns. Not to mentions all the views and such. This would be a great chance to phase out all the meaningless farmland, making it inaccessible set dressing rather than 90% of the drivable map.

Then there’s the automotive culture, which is incredibly strong. The shady street racing Mid Night Club, the legendary tuners like Smokey Nagata and Akira Nakai, the suprisingly deep rally heritage with drivers like Fumio Nutahara. Wanna know why Mexico flopped beyond just the map? They didn’t bother incorporating what little automotive culture it had. Japan’s automotive history is so deep and complex, and they have so much to choose from when it comes to representing the country’s automotive heritage. It’s not just basic pop-culture crud like Tokyo Drift and Wangan Midnight.

I could go on forever. Their opportunities to show off Japan’s crazy metalcore scene with the radio stations, the implementation of Kei cars, adding legendary spots like the Daikoku Parking area and Mt. Fuji’s touge roads, the possibilities are endless.

The only valid critique you have seems to be Playground not being able to pull it off. And the worst part is unless they go through some radical internal change, they couldn’t. That part is a valid concern.

I appreciate your enthusiasm thats not based on anime perceptions ;d. I cant give arguments about car culture because i dont know that much. But obviously when it comes to that theres a lot that they could incorporate into the game. You make good points

Regardless of where horizon lands hopefully they’ll get the map design right. I just dont wanna see the game turning into a weeaboo cringe fest.

I have a sudgestion about forza horizon 6 i think you should make the map based of of tokyo and the npc cars should be drift cars and you should be able to chanlenge them to a duel of drift point whoever gets the most drift points gets cash and rp

But why not the itasha scene in Japan is really nice and tastefully done you can’t really make a car game a weaboo fest tbh

I’d be fine with Japan, but the community would definitely need to curtail their expectations. Sadly, Playground Games don’t seem like they’ll be changing the current formula anytime soon, so I imagine a lot of Japanese car culture would not be well-represented, and what little we would get would simply be regurgitations of Wikipedia articles.

Mexico has a surprisingly in-depth car culture and history with motorsport, yet Playground barely represented any of it in Horizon 5. Japan has even more of both, and I just don’t see it matching everyone’s expectations.

Japan would be a country for a horizon title to be established also with lots of scenery or it could be set in more asian countries or anywhere like China, South Korea, Phillipines, Thailand with the scenery they have with lots of water and dirt that could be used for offroad racing and they have highways that could be used for racing and the automobile culture thats endless with different possibilties.

Will it include the 2 nuke sites? The only two times that humans got nuked as unwilling participants at the cost of war.
