Dear Turn10, Microsoft and any other developer that had their hands in making this year’s FH4 please take what I say about the new game seriously. I am not the only one that shares this view of the new game. Firstly I like to say awesome graphics and visualizations. The game looks amazing! After that said here comes the bitter sweet medicine.
I have been a Horizon racer since FH1. You have made every online game decent improving each new edition as you released them. Unfortunately you have missed the mark terribly with the new FH4 for many different reasons. Let me start by telling you what makes me upset with the new game. Firstly, to come online to race easily no longer exists. You can’t just jump into a lobby with friends after coming home working. So many loopholes you need to do and online game play is limited. You have teams all the time with no lap times anymore. Well you do if you watch carefully during the race. Afterwards there is no visual for lap times which racing is all about. You have literally removed clubs from the online. Yes it’s there in Xbox clubs but no ladder and weekly champions. I think all the glitz and glam of outfits is ridiculous. Why do I need rubber boots or any other attire to make me race better. I don’t need that fluff to race fast. Has nothing to do with racing. Lobbies are no longer fun. You never chat with others online anymore going into lobbies. It’s not really set up that way to do so. XP has been removed from championships. Free Rush between events is terrible. Racing clean is impossible now. Trying to get into ranked lobbies is next to impossible. Waiting to find sessions only to not have enough racers over and over again. This happens all the time. Sometimes when I get into a ranked lobby I get booted/disconnected only to be unable to rejoin back in because I have been banned. If I do get in the ranked lobbies they are just full of smash um up racing. I miss a check point only to have the game continuously tell me I missed a checkpoint never to actually get back into the race with the game counting 3, 2, 1 checkpoint missed over and over. So I have to leave only to yet again get banned from online ranked racing because I had to leave to fix the error so I can actually race again. You removed XP from championships I have heard because people were complaining too many were XP’ng at the back in the previous versions of this game and not racing. Yeah that happened but people still raced and championships were fine. You could have given both XP championships and race points championships to please both sides. But no you redesigning the online making many faithful racers from the beginning leave. Many hardcore racers from before are fed up with the flaws, errors, crashing, clothing that is stupid, houses, changed lobby formats, no lower racing online under “A” class. Mostly S2, S1, and seldom “A” class. You may think I am complaining tomuch but I believe this is what most faithful online gamers feel. If things don’t get fixed or changed you will lose which I am sure you really don’t care because it’s only 1 person. I know there are many many many many others that feel the same way. You had it right with FH3 and FH2. All you needed to do was tweak it and add in more bells and whistles. Not clothing and properties. In my club alone I have seen over 100 members stop playing this game because of all the bug problems and headaches with the new gameplay. We use to be 6th place with many online but since the problems and changes they have left to play other games that are not so upsetting and disappointing. I have many more issues and bugs that keep happening but this is just a few that are really bothering myself and many of my fellow racers. Please listen and change the game play. You are losing a fan base that has stuck with you. Very loyal fan base that are the roots, heart and soul. I am sure you can see the data for yourselves of how the game is played and how many have left the game forever or until the game is fixed properly bugs and all. I am willing to talk further one on one on ways that will make this game more enjoyable and make the races that have left return. Please take my opinion seriously because I am a faithful FH series racers from MS7 all the way to original as well. So sad and frustrating I don’t like the new game play because I do want to like this game as so many others do also! Would love to hear others comments and opinions. Let’s make this game better! Because at the moment is really has its issues!
(Suggestion) In-game club visability with club objectives
(Suggestion) Remove cosmetic clothing
(Suggestion) Removal of freeroam rush
In response:
Chatting with others depends on the people in your lobbies and whether they’d like to chat. Alot of racers tend to be in their own party chat separate.
We are aware that ‘racing clean’ is an issue at the moment and that players are getting ‘rammed out of the checkpoints’ etc and the team are looking into this
If you’re still being banned from disconnecting, please submit a ticket (mentioned below)
The team are aware of the looping 3…2…1… issue and are investigating this further.
If you have any further issues or bugs appears, including suggestions & feedbacks which you have mentioned, submit a ticket here.
Also please check our troubleshooting articles here incase this helps any of your issues whilst also showing you our most recent fixes and known issues.
You really missed what I was trying to convey. You completely redesigned something that only needed to be tweaked and updated. If there was complaints about people winning championships from XP’ing from the back don’t just throw out the entire design. Fix it. Make it a two tiered championship XP champion and race winwith points. Put track times back in. Clean up crash and smash racing. Fix bugs. Op out clothing for those who don’t want rubber duckies boots to race with. Keep championships. Redesign freeroam rush for XP’rs. Make lobbies friendly for all with limited team events. Bring back clubs with weekly ladders. Clubs and teams love them. Everybody in clubs are scattered across the horizon world. Yes I know people enjoy being in private lobbies. The game slowly forced people to get in their own postcard sessions because of the technology and issues from other versions. I know your trying to keep the game fresh but what you have done with FH4 is a total change to the series for the bad. I like some aspects but you overdosed and seems like you didn’t care about the game roots and where it originated. It’s like going from PUBG to Fortnight. Next there will be flying rocket ships. Please consult your Forza community because we do care how this game plays. I feel you shoved this game on us and you don’t care how we feel. With all the issues and annoyances many are fed up and those are the backbone of the franchise. Without them it isn’t Forza. This is racing game isn’t it? No lap times, No championships, No in game clubs and ladders. Totally disconnected from racers.
Not being able to select the type of race (you get randomly pushed into any race from Dirt to Race to Off-Road)
The unexplainable decision to put FREE ROAM between races?? No one wants to run with the S1 street racer through fields and forests - and if so - why don`t you implement a FREE ROAM race?
I would like to add:
Race in Groups? This whole group race thing is crazy - from people being punted off the road to ensure they don’t make points from the problems with uneven racers in a race
Points in ranked groups - there are tons of reports on people not understanding how points work as they gain only a little but lose a lot - etc - since there is no documentation it is hard to understand
Auction house - already there is a cartel established for some cars - most noticeably the Aventador FE which a few people by up and sell it for no less than 10 to 20 million. Casual gamers cannot even put the price that high - not sure if that is the point of the game
Options missing to review the tune setups from other gamers PRIOR to installing (what tyres, have the car been actually tuned or just upgrades applied?
There is tons of more stuff - but hey - we have an expansion coming up
And even better you tweet that you have been nominated racing game of the year cough cough
As many, I am an old fan of the series. Been playing Forza games (and own them all) since FM3.
I really like this game. The PROS are significantly more than the CONS. However, there are many issues that are bugging our experience with it.
What about all the complaints regarding excesive emphasizing on the avatar related stuff? Are you going to downgrade that? Or at least give us the option to do so.
Also, are championships going to return? I loved THAT from FH2…
What about the sound bug? Randomly, the car engine is going to stuck at an RPM, and will stay that way for several seconds (until I pause the game).
Agree with everything Kingston said. We can’t be forced for a new gameplay, We are old people, not teenagers, the game right now is for teens who likes to ram around for fun and using dances and wearing clothes but most of us don’t. Make the game playable for everyone, please go back to FH3 style system. Thank you
I’m an older gamer and agree. Judging by the amount of people using the feature online it seems quite popular too.
It’s been explained that you get the same amount of cars and money from wheel spins as FH3, so I’ve no idea what the problem is. Haters gotta hate I suppose.
The biggest issue is lack of competitive spirit. No lap times, no class based pvp lobbies, no scoreboard on forzathon live. The game needs searchable pvp lobbies.
Ouch! You tossed that argument right out the window, didn’t you?
In his defense though, when you’re 80, anyone under 50 is “just a kid”.
But when you think about it, it’s pretty strange to begin with… I mean we are all (obviously) playing video games, and then we come to an online forum to argue about it.
Kind of disturbing when you think about it. I need a life… Oh! But wait, I have one, a “Horizon Life”!
No, What I meant by playable for everyone is the fact that the game is too avatar customization centered. A racing game should not be like this. I’ve been playing racing games since 1998(Need For Speed 2) and never ever a game I’ve played where it awarded me clothing items as a reward. For sure, I’ve played TDU and TDU2 where you could dress up the characters by buying them from clothes shop. I didn’t mind that because the game was never meant to be with how much you dress and how you celebrate dancing. And that’s not the point, what I mean was the racing experience is too poor to enjoy other items. If the racing and the multiplayer experience was allright only then most of us would’ve ignored all this. TDU2 had homes where you could change interior furnitures but the game did not deviate from what it was(racing and driving).
What? Are you insane? I paid 100 bucks for this game, of-course I will express my constructive criticism here. It’s like I went to a restaurant to order Pizza but they are forcing me to eat soup. Ofcourse I will argue about it lol. And you could say that why did I bought this game in the first place, well you see, we have been misinformed. The trailer of this game only focused on seasons and new cars, but there was no mention or any part of the video trailer where it showed the clothing, dances, emotes what not. Let alone the multiplayer. The trailer mentioned only about the 72 player session and the CO-OP thing.
I’m 35 and I think its absolute rubbish. Take your Avatar and emotes to Fortnite or the Sims please and thanks :).
You want to give me REAL character creation and customization, I’m all for it. This is not that.
lets all be REAL honest here for a second. Think about EVERY lobby you have been in when you see the “line of dancers”… Its CLEARLY a contest for the majority of how disturbing and flamboyant can I dress my avatar. Every other one is a dude in a skirt doing some flaming dance. I’m sick of it. If there was an option to turn the entire thing off that box would be checked by now.
i
I could not agree more.
I’m 41, been playing racing games since the original NFS, and loved all the Forza games. If were given more customization options for the avatars, and the choice for buying the clothes at the Forzathon Shop, I certainly wouldn’t mind.
But since we are being forced to accept stupid clothing (even women skirts when my avatar is a male)…I think it is a stupid choice to emphasize that in a racing game.
Maybe someone likes to dress like Elton John or Liberace, and I won’t judge…but c´mon!! This is a racing game, not Fortnite (which I’ve never played, nor intent to)
You can change your avatar at any time, including their gender. That’s one reason why everybody’s drawing from the same pool of items.
I’m having a really hard time understanding this outrage around avatars, customization and wheelspins. I don’t care too much about that part of the game myself, but I just don’t see what the problem is. I have hundreds of cars in my garage and don’t think I’ve bought a single one. The game is absolutely loaded with wheelspins, the nature of which is that they give you random stuff. I’ve had my fair share of super wheelspins giving nothing but horns and clothes I’ll never use. So what? As long as we have game mechanics revolving around luck of the draw, that in my eyes is as good a way as any to handle it. I do think we should be able to buy clothes directly as well, so that it’d be easier to dress our avatars in a more calm, less “elton-johnly” way.
Moreover, basing an argument on this “being a racing game” and then making claims on what should and should not be in the game is pretty absurd. It’s a game. A racing game, partially. Also a “driving” game, an open world game and a sandbox game. It’s a game with all manner of things in it, including avatars. The developers clearly have a vision of the game that differs somewhat from yours. We should of course voice our criticisms of the game we’ve paid money for, but to me it’s a little arrogant to tell the devs that they’re wrong and should’ve made a different game.
