Alt+tab out of game, disable core 0, re-enter game, alt+tab out once again and re-enable core 0…seems to fix stuttering issue for me, but does nothing to even out the thread/core usages
Yeah just noticed the game basically runs on two cores which(according to task manager and HWmonitor) run at 100% usage all the time. I disabled Hyper Threading and noticed some performance improvements but the load per core was unchanged.
Losing FPS and stutter/CTD problem… Gonna buy more RAM today and see if helps moving from 8GB to 16GB.
Gonna post an update if I see improvement.
i7 920 @ 3.7Ghz
8 GB 1333mhz RAM
AMD R9 280X GPU
I don’t see any improvement with 16GB RAM, still losing FPS after 2nd or 3rd race…
So I think I found two causes that were causing the stutter for me.
First of all, being connected to the internet. During a test run of RIO with a MCL P1, by taking out my wireless dongle it stuttered quite a bit less. The other change I did was playing in any other view other than bumper mode. That seemed to make it almost playable.
Try it out ![]()
I am running the settings on highest everything except for anisotropic filtering (at 2x) and MSAA quality (also on 2x). I was getting crazy tearing and stuttering on the pre and post race menus where the vehicle is onscreen and also in replays (completely garbage, unwatchable). I then went into my NVidia control panel and forced V-Sync to off.
Completely solved the problem. I still have this minor stutter that every now and then it feels like the game is simply not rendering one frame and stuff like headlights flickering every so often.
Here is where it gets weird: As I play longer, its like the software forgets to wipe some memory usage, I had it steadily increase usage to the point where it was eating up all my RAM.
And here is where it gets crazy:
the specs on my machine (laptop) are as follows:
I7 4810MQ (2.8GHz >3.8 turbo)
16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz
GTX 860 M
some SSD that I don’t quite remember the specs for.
Even with the 860M and the mentioned settings I am still getting an almost steady 30 FPS, dropping to high 20s once in a while and going up to low 50s every now and then (especially night races).
I thought this was gonna be much more taxing on my GPU.
Sidenote: I really dislike the tyre noises, its like their squeal is a on/off switch.
EDIT: my display is at 1920x1080
EDIT 2: I had horrible stuttering in-game initially even with the resolution set real low and the video quality set to low. I found that the dynamic video settings cause quite a lot of issues as it tries switching the video fidelity on the go. Once I forced it to work with my commanded settings it was like a whole new game. My advice, use Custom on the “Dynamic Optimization” and force the settings yourself.
eventually starts to happen after 4 or 5 races and then the game hangs while loading up a new race. I usually just restart the game if I’m loading up more than 4 races at a time
considering people with below recommended and above recommended set ups are experiencing this I’ll wait for T10 to fix the issue rather than adjust things that might be detrimental down the road
I might be the one lucky bugger that doesn’t have that issue after a few races played the entire thing almost in one sitting without that happening.
Also adjusting these settings cannot be detrimental to anything. How would that be?
same here after a few races stuttering comes up.
Hello Guys,
When Im playing the game its lagging / stuttering a lot. So it isnt possible to play.
I already set the graphics on low but the problem stays. Every 1-2 seconds it frezes for a moment.
I use the newest nVidia Graphics driver + Game Ready Driver.
Does somebody have the same problem?
What can I do? - My Graphics Card should run it.
My Specs:
i5 2500k
GTX 760
RAM: 8GB
Thanks a lot ![]()
I had huge fps and stuttering problems with this game for some time. I couldn’t find any reason why this game would not run properly. With dynamic settings on, the first race was terrible, the road was dissappearing, constant stuttering and very low fps.
My specs are:
i5-4690K
GTX-780
8GB ram
What worked for me was disabling my page file from the drive that forza apex is installed. Now it runs smooth as silk.
CTRL + R → type “sysdm.cpl ,3” → click advanced tab → under performance click “settings” → again click advanced tab → Under virtual memory click “change” → Now select the drive where you have installed Forza Apex and click “No paging file” and click “Set” → Restart computer.
Hope this helps someone. Cheers!
I haven’t page file in the ssd on forza is installed, and stuttering is horrible
Unplugged my controller and the game is MUCH smoother… Keyboard is just no way near as fun ![]()
Same issue here, After couple races the game start to “micro” stutter on any track/weather/time of day. (MAX settings, 1080p.)
My PC Specs:
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel i7 4770k OC
GTX 980TI 6GB SC
16 GB RAM.
Please fix it ![]()
i play it mostly on my first rig :4770 stock , gtx 960 2gb ,12 gb ram . try to use middle settings.
but im wondering you get stutter with the 980 ti on 1080p
oc -? temperatures ?
downscaling ?
i know im dumb but download real temp and post what temperature you have. please !
I have stuttering problems since I’ve downloaded the game. In the menu it goes really smoothly but as soon as I get in the race no matters the time it stutters and lags like crazy.
Specs:
Intel i7 4710 hq
Gtx 860m 4gb
8 gb RAM DDR3 1600Mhz
I have lag and stutter issues since I’ve downloaded the game. In the menu everythung is smooth but as soon as I get in a.race it starts lagging like crazy.
Specs:
Intel i7 4710 HQ
8GB RAM DDR3 MHz

Same issue here,
i7 6700k
16 GB DDR4
GTX 980 TI
PCI M2.SSD 950 EVO
Stutter like hell, completely unplayable.
Shame on Turn 10, even if it is a beta!
Not sure about memory leak, but it does seem to fix the stutters and frame rate drops when I restart app.
SPECS:
i7 6700k
32 GB Ram
SSD
GTX 1070
Yep same here. Thought it was my rig messing up, now i see people with even better rigs with same issue.
