Freeroam Rush is ruining my experience of FH4!

I bought this game mostly to play online and, the incorporation of leagues for the first time in the Horizon series, was a big appeal for me.

However, not only they decided to implement a system where it’s totally random, totally out of your control, winning races even if you finished 1st, but the incorporation of the Freeroam Rush in every Racing Team Adventure is ruining the game for me!! If I knew this alone I wouldn’t buy the game, as it’s making me not want to play it anymore!!

What’s the sense of being presented you with a Street Racing series and you have 2 out of 5 Freeroam Rush races???

Freeroam Rush only makes sense in Extreme Offroad races and remove it completely from the Ranked Team Adventure!

Exactly.

It has no place in ranked, and absolutely no place in Road Racing championships. How stupid is this development decision… why are we being scored on how well we can drive across the fields in a straight line when we’re in a Road race lobby??

Even in Dirt championships it’s pretty stupid because it just favours the trucks.

yep, that’s what everyone is saying.

for sure, they are going to remove the fact that these “rush” are taken into account in the final result of the adventure.

me and my friends doesn’t play that mode anymore until it change

I could not agree more.

And are not unjoyable with some cars, where you have to drive through trees, snow, grass and a lot of jumps.

This thing and the random races with random class/seasons give me get sick

Freeroam rush is the ugliest mode in this game.
Hitting a tree because you are forced to run in a forest is just uncool.

Forced to run in a forest? That is not accurate, free roam has NO barriers. You can drive where you choose, either stick to the road or get better at dodging trees

I agree aswell, this ‘mode’ and the lack of being able to decide which class or race type to choose is pretty much ruining multiplayer for me.

yes, you are forced to do that. when everyone cut though forest because the road is live a V, you can’t win this rush if you stay always on road. so you follow them, and you end up in a tree with a S2 cars that was never made to do that.

don’t worry, as everyone is saying the same thing, they will change it soon

Possible fix

  • If it’s a road racing series, make the Rush races (route) road only with checkpoints
  • If dirt, then dirt only route with checkpoints
  • If cross, then cross only route with checkpoints

Ensure that if we’re going all-in on an S2 car for a road series, that we’re not forced to cross-country to the end goal. Limit our route with checkpoints and ensure our route is only on road.

Bottom line, our route should be limited to the series we’re racing in (road, dirt, cross) and ensure there’s checkpoints so we stay on the appropriate surface.

Otherwise, just scrap Team rush as a whole.

I wouldn’t even mind seeing some LONG races in these. 10 minute Goliath would be fine with me.

Am I the only one who thinks that every second race in Team Adventure being a Freeroam Rush event is a bit excessive?

Dial it back a bit and maybe include one per series’s or even better yet, segregate them into their own matchmaking type. So people like myself who just want to checkpoint race don’t have to be force fed that trash.

I actually prefer it because the teammates I get stuck with never finish in the top half in the actual race events. The rush events gives the team a chance to win a round or two. No one likes being smoked 3-0

I created another post about this before I seen this one and could not agree more. Worse even, is that I can barely even enjoy the checkpoint races because I was just forced to play a Freeroam Rush race that I wanted no part of and I know that I have another one coming up immediately after.

Let me add this, who’s brilliant idea was it to force people right into the next series to pick a car without giving them the opportunity to quit?

Every new series sees people drop out right at the beginning that don’t want to be there anymore.

Also, if you go 3-0, the championship only has 2 real races in it, as opposed to H3’s 4 races (which you could select after the championship ended)

4 things need to change :

when clicking A on adventure mode, we should be able to choose 3 things :
-first, if we want to play On-roads races, off-roads races, or mixed.
-choose a class of adventure (B, A, S1 or S2). currently we have no choice, and even more, there is only A, S1 or S2, every less powerfull cars like B can’t participate on online adventure
-finally, choose if we want to play with teams or everyone vs everyone.

then “freeroam rush” points shoudn’t be counted on the final score. OR there should be checkpoints, with the system that “Moji Senpai” explained :

"- If it’s a road racing series, make the Rush races (route) road only with checkpoints

  • If dirt, then dirt only route with checkpoints
  • If cross, then cross only route with checkpoints"

then it will be perfect

I agree that Free Roam Rush should not be part of online racing, especially not Ranked play. It completely throws off the balance since it’s not even racing in the traditional sense. It could rather be part of Playground sessions but not racing. Players should just be teleported from race to race instead. I like the proper online races but then these Free Roam Rushes come and I lose my enthusiasm.

since Horizon 2, going to the next race has always been there, but before, the issue was that everyone was trying to drift the entire way with cars made only for this, so they could be 1st in the adventure, even if they lost every race x) (basically). i always thought that system was terrible, but not the worst, as you could try to drift with your car, even stock, and make some points to stay first if you won others races.

now, this is simply not possible to keep the current system. when the adventure is in S2 for onroads races, you choose a car… that goes fast. a Ferrari, or a Lambo, Koenigsegg, etc. and then when the freeroam rush come, you go to the next race… following GPS. but others players that took fully upgraded 4X4 thinking it was a good idea for races, even if they lost every races because of that terrible choice, they are going to win these freeroam rush because they will cut though forest at 200mph. your cars simply can’t do that, because… this is a road car. and i think the developers couldn’t think about it when trying their games by themself. because none of them did that when going to the next race x)

but i’m not for removing the fact that you have to drive to the next race. it is a nice thing, ONLY if it is to relax. if it’s counted as a “race” with points, that doesnt make sense, and you lose your place in the championship because of that.
