It really seems Turn 10 focuses their game development, towards multiplayer & campaign modes, at the expense of freeplay. I’m, almost exclusively, a freeplay player. Every game, since FM6, feels like those of us who want to race where & against whom we want, in freeplay, are left with a game mode with more bugs, than campaign mode. Especially with the AI. Please Turn10, don’t just put freeplay bugs on the back burner. I’d love to see how many people play almost exclusively freeplay. Maybe I’m a minority, but I think there’s more of us out there, than Turn10 thinks.
Yes! fix the issues and find some way to combine free play and online private lobby so that we can race with friends how we want when we want and however many drivatars we want.
I feel you, I’ll probably focus more on featured MP but last night I was messing around with Free play and is fun, you can create awesome races for yourself. The only thing about free play been a letdown for me is not knowing how to set a multi-class race, I want to do some endurance for myself with multi-class but I haven’t been able to do it. Besides that, free play is awesome.
Go to event settings. Last tab on the right. Set number of car groups. Set parameters inside each individual car group. That should allow you to race multiple classes against each other.
I swear I did that but it just create 2 groups of hypercars, when I put one for Proto-H and the other one for Forza GT.
I’m at work right now so I have to wait till I get home to go even further with the settings.
After you accept event settings & get to the track, go to event, look at event list. If the AI cars are wrong, go to event setup, give it a second or 2 & hit accept all, then click OK. Then look at event list once again, & it should be mostly right. I say mostly, because it still seems to put 1 or 2 cars in the wrong spot.
Freeplayer here aswell feels like we are being punished for something
I think private multiplayer will do this. if you go in there, there is an option for Meetup and you can set whatever settings you want to play with your friends.
However the open track day meet up where you could just hit go and join a random track with people and random cars is missing from this game and sadly there are a bunch of us that were looking for it.
Thanks, I’ll have to check that out.
So far I’ve created S, A, B and C races with any car model, level 4 (ready for 5 tbh) random starting and random tracks, weather, and automatic laps. I’ve had fun with free play, held off on career for concerns regarding progression but once I found it to be fair especially with being able to refund car points, career mode has been hella fun.
I despise not being allowed to make my own decisions about what mods I want to apply at any given car level.
In most other aspects, I don’t mind using mod points rather than credits, since the refund for swapping parts is a welcome change.
Sorry, what specifically are the issues with Free Play?
Have had a tonne of fun creating and racing random races.
What’s blowing it up for you?
Multi-class races, it’s broken. Don’t work properly.
so far ive gotten 2 cars to 50 exclusively using freeplay, it seems better this time around for some reason. set it to timed races 30 minutes a pop, random track, random weather and go. so much better than builders cup
But in free play a lot of track layouts are missing. (Private Multiplayer too)
I’m really disappointed with free play, experienced crashing and lots of other bugs. Filters don’t work properly when you want to make multi class race - let’s say you create race with 3 car divisions (Forza GT, P1, P2) - you enter the race all cars are from class in which player is. If you fiddle then in the race in race setup seems like workaround for this is to add car class filter (R, P, P for divisions in this case).
Next - when you finish the race on the menu screen where you can continue to the next race or exit, if I press on continue it always crashes the game. It happened to me numerous times (well, every time), I don’t know if multi-class filters or settings are to blame for this since i didn’t play races with one class on track.
Also - I had random crashes in livery editor.
Free play - where is option for optional practice and qualifying sessions? Now that the game has them in other modes, it is missing here. Also - it would be nice to have option to hand pick each car for the race either from your garage or rentals (erm like that other game on that other platform does).
One of other bugs that I’ve encountered in free play - while using mandatory pit stops, also in multi class race, some AI cars stayed in ghost mode after pitting and continued to race until the end.
Also as you can see how all cars are C8.R - again, bug with filters it seems, all cars in the race were Corvettes.
Crashes to console dashboard is what is the most disappointing, I’ve had them 10+ for sure.
All problems encountered on Xbox Series X.
Edit:
AI is still afraid to pass cars from slower classes on straigths, same as in FM7. You can be in GT car and see bunch of prototypes stuck behind you.
Another disappointment about freeplay…in builders cup, you can choose your grid position. In freeplay you can’t. Why??? I’ll say it again, Turn10 should put more effort into freeplay, than they have in the past. Just a reminder of how they’ve ignored this mode over the years…in FM7, the AI LMP1 cars couldn’t navigate the carousel at Road America. They would go off track all the time, with the exception of the 2012 Audi R18. In FM7’s campaign mode they could go around it, no problem. I brought this up, back when FM7 was still new. They never addressed the issue. At least, from FM6 to FM7, they improved the freeplay mode, but it has remained their least developed game mode. Which is a shame, because it’s pretty much the only mode I play, and I imagine there’s more people who are like me, in this regard.
how can i test and tune my car without entering an event? i want to pick a car, a track, and then just run laps while adjusting settings. i have not found a way to do this.
please advise.
you still have the “test drive” feature in the tuning menu like previous motorsports.
OUTSTANDING… THANK YOU! i completely forgot about this feature. brilliant!
