Free-for-all Adventure / Online Discussion

The Daytona is a beast in B but its not all that easy to grab grip on the dirt. I’m currently trying to find something that can compete with it on acceleration and top speed. I just found an A class dirt car thats a monster on dirt not so much asphalt. I’m not gonna mention what it is but its not the Atomic Punk. I tried that for a little while and I dont like the way it handles

You might try GReddy’s tune for the Lancer then - think that’s his full username. There was a rivals challenge a couple of months ago on Glen Rannoch A class and I think that tune was the quickest. I couldn’t get near the times people using MC were getting with it.

No user by that name when I search for Lancer tunes, unfortunately. I’ve tried a few random tunes but they haven’t been up to much. I realise I was beaten by a power build but the ones I’ve tried haven’t been quicker than the TZ2, but they have had worse handling so it’s the worst of both worlds. And yet clearly with the right tune (and driver) the car is capable of great things. It would be good to have a car ready for A class lobbies where there are tracks needing power builds. At the moment I’m using the TZ2 for everything and it hasn’t got the speed for tracks like the Colossus (I mean, against top drivers anyway. In a random lobby of casuals it will still win easily).

Sorry FN - now checked and he has some numbers in his username. Should be GReddy295. You could also try the tunes by TDU1PlatinumMod and Don Joewon Song,

As mentioned, they were all created for an A class dirt event (on Glen Rannoch Trail) but the top three times using those three tunes all set top 10 rivals times (at a time when Boneshakers were still on the leaderboards) so they should be competitive in dirt at least.

Oh dirt tunes, I’m looking for something for road races, sorry if I wasn’t clear. Anyway I just looked again and there is nothing for GReddy295 for the Lancer 99. I see him on the leaderboard for that track so I got the name right, perhaps he took the tune down. Anyway I tried TDU1PlatinumMod’s one. Certainly something like this isn’t what beat me on the road. I was doing like 170-175 in my TZ2 at one point and the Lancer blew past me on the fast dual carriageway section like I was standing still practically.

(I tried the Lancer in dirt rivals btw, I did better in a Lancia Delta though. I could set a quicker time but you have to be more careful than you would during a race as one miniscule misjudgement could end up dirtying the lap so easily.)

I’ll never get to GM the way this game keeps disconnecting in ranked. I’m in first on the table but somehow get kicked from the room. Come on PG, these servers are beyond suspect.

I think I’m out on this game. The only thing I enjoy playing keeps kicking me and every time it does that it’s a -75. Too unreliable

Online Race Options SELECTION

Let’s talk about a BASIC thing that only generates frustration, stress and it’s also a big CONTRADICTION with the idea of having so many cars in the game but not being able to use them effectively. THE LACK OF OPTION TO SELECT THAT KIND OF RACE WE WANT TO RUN ONLINE MODE.

The problem is the excess of cross country racing, it has been mentioned in other topics, places, but the beautiful team of TURN10 does not listen, do not care.

We have hundreds of cars in the game that are unsuitable for terrain, snow, track, and yet in ONLINE races every 10 championships are cross country dominated by big and powerful SUVs / Trucks … we might even try to use one. sporty for the event but only if it is 4x4, rear wheel drive with 700hp or more is impossible to be competitive.

That’s a shame, if at least 5 cross country and 5 road races were fine, but it’s almost 100% cross country.

SOLUTION, and a good, non-radical solution:

Enter option we can CHOOSE only the type of race we want to enter, cross country, road race, B, A, S1, S2, etc … Please friends, let’s take this topic forward, support, it makes no sense We have 1000 cars in the game and only 10 or 20 that do well on earth are useful.

Thanks a lot, the disappointment with Forza 7 and the forced HDR with half-mouth modeling is no longer enough = (

Are you looking for custom championship, they did a beta feature on that, on weekends, I guess it is not totally empty, at least regarding road racing. For the other online mode, the fact is that CC and DIRT CS are longer, 5 races instead of 3. Even if we had even probability of CC/DIRT/ROAD it would not be satisfying. I will just remind any reader that, at game release, there was no B button to opt out and one could not switch between team and FFA either because no FFA. Looks to me the situation is not ideal, but much more flexible than it was planned.

I find it quite frustrating some cars are like useless to online because these have low top speed therefore incompatible with freeroam. Having alternatively CC and DIRT with 3 or 5 races would push players to use more different cars and give a little of oxygen to the online game but … ok too late, maintenance mode now, only new cars, got it.

Online Adventure could, and should, be more dynamic:

The QuickPlay Unranked Adventure would pick Adventures from highly ranked (in blueprint making) players and add them to the playlist. Using a combination of heuristics (e.g. did an unusual number of players quit during the series), and a vote at the end “would you play this race series by XXX again?” the map is ranked in popularity by players.

Highly ranked adventures are then added to a pool, from which a playlist from which the next week’s Ranked Online Adventures are drawn.

Then, if players persistently downvote adventures with online freeroam, it vanishes from the playlists. Conversely : if someone makes a Road adventure with races cleverly structured so the freeroam follows a road and players like it and upvote it - also good.

Looks to me as straight line to having only S1 Road summer. Personally, if we ever had a chance to push a change, I would have requested for more variety, cross country should never follow cross country, S1 never follow S1, having B class roads also, having some championships Cross country and dirt without FreeRoam allowing to use low top speed cars, FreeRoam only CS too …

Pro Tip: If you’re first in the Trial and the rest of the team is way behind so the team is loosing… instead of spamming “Nice Driving” like a moron, try to hold the computers as much as you can so the rest can easily catch up.

I have long time disabled those messages, I still can see some of these above cars from time to time and hear the notification there was a message (PG/T10 way to do thing always half baked) but majority is no longer reaching me. I’ve never seen those messages adding any fun to the game, never ever.

I would have preferred to be able to give +1 during podium scene to someone I considered good racer, that would have been much more of a social thing and pushing players to play with respect.

What’s the matter, scared?

:stuck_out_tongue:

Seriously, I think they’re often funny and as it is a social game, a way of communicating with other players is good, even if it is limited. You can tease or taunt, congratulate or apologise etc. And a lot of the phrases are funny, especially when used randomly. I think it’s a good addition to the game and I get the impression they are popular. (Doesn’t mean you are wrong, each to their own etc.)

yourself using the word ‘scared’ … for a game … says so lot about your habits to use this feature.

This feature is indeed one of the preferred thing of rammers and players so proud to win using the top cars, you know the one thinking they are the unique ones to have found out TZ2 is great car for instance. there’s quite just 0 fun to some rammer’s ahah or such messages, it is just annoying and nothing social, I estimate less than a 1 % use it for positive comments.

When I occasionally cross by some top player I want to congratulate or want to apology to for hit, I just send a message and it possibly/sometimes ends adding new friend. Good luck to achieve the same with this so called social feature , “ah ah …”

Oh? You’re approaching me?

(the scared reference is one of the chat messages and I am just kidding, there is no need to be alarmed or upset :stuck_out_tongue: )

ok for the scared thing, too long time I have disabled this damned thing, forgot about that. I admit using ‘scared’ for a game sounds nuts to me …

Rest of my post is my vision of this damned “social” feature.

I wish +1’ing a post had more significance. And I could give more than just 1

They really should remove the Aerodrome Cross Country event from ranked races. I kept getting it come up yesterday and the one car width passage is just a recipe for disaster. Obviously, any rammer is going to try and make sure you hit the wall and even with fair drivers someone potentially has to be ultra polite (not to mention the risk that a slower driver hits you side on in the crossover point in the figure of 8).

Appreciate you can go over the containers instead but that’s substantially slower - to the extent you are pretty much giving up any chance of wining against reasonably well matched opposition - and carries the usual random landing risk in any airborne race.

Edit - also is anyone aware of a guide to the freeroam events? When I used to do ranked regularly I was getting to know a lot of them but there are only a handful i can remember now. I basically have to win all three “normal” races to have any chance of winning FFA events, given I’m more or less guaranteed to mess up one FR!

I agree, few weeks without playing and loss of reflexes to take the good path is there. I’ve never looked for such a thing as a guide for that, I just hope it does not exist. Myself, for some free roams I just created custom races with only start point and end point to train.

That’s one of the reasons I opt out of cross country in ranked races, too much is down to chance. Can be fun in unranked where losing doesn’t come with a punitive points drop.
