I am very late to the Forza Horizon Party, just got FH4 a month ago, loved it, got FH5 this week, hated it, now got FH2 and love it even more. But the free cars in the autoshow that need to be downloaded obviously can’t be downloaded since the servers have long been shut down. I really wanted some of those, is there a chance I will win them in a wheel spin or are they just lost for eternity? Playing on XBOX One by the way.
When I installed the disc an update was downloaded (5 GB), and I do see some of the DLC cars as drivatars, so they are in the game, which makes it annoying that I have to go through a no longer existing market place to get them. There are dozens of inaccessible cars now. Surely keeping a bit of server space up for just this feature can’t be a big cost. The FH5 update was 127 GB for crying out loud, it only got 9 GB out of 21 GB from the disc.
Tbh I’m in the same situation as you I want all the free stuff and storm island but I can garentee that the bonus porsche pack is long gone as you needed forza hub which is gone sadly maybe one day if we’re lucky they might come back I mean forza horizon 2s 10th anniversary is coming soon tho but we can only hope I could suggest if enough people ask for it maybe we could get em back but Idk
Sadly all dlc cars are labeled as free as once redeemed/purchased you can claim them for free without using your precious credits. Its not necessarily the servers shut down being the reason why you cant obtain these cars. Reason is that the game had hit end of life aka eol. Due to timed licensing expiring. It is a must that the game and its respective dlc has to be removed from the store. Licensing such as cars, the map, environment, music and the list goes on.
Assuming this is not the Xbox 360 Version of FH2 (the xbox marketplace has closed down permanently) it is still technically possible to obtain mostly all of the dlc you are missing. That is if it is included in a ultimate/premium bundle/separate packs sold separately via online retail. It may be rare yes but it isnt impossible. I know a few people who look for sealed ultimate versions of the physical game online (can be pricey) and redeem the codes that way. I have gotten lucky before too in the past while finding a version at a Goodwill. Which happened to not have the dlc used.
If the code isnt used then you should be able to just redeem it via the Microsoft store (most of the premium/ultimate add ons from bundles do not expire)
So to answer this part odds are slim to none as sad as it is to say this. Especially this late into the game and being labeled as dlc. Which could have been tied to the agreement behind the licensing. It saddens me as well. As I like to document Forzas history. I have missed some dlc that I will never get the opportunity to use/showcase but sadly thats beyond our/the teams power.
I am talking about the XBOX One version by the way. But any DLC car you click on gives the same “market place error”, which I think happens as soon as the DLC is delisted (whether the actual market place still exists or not), which is happening now too for FH4 if I’m not mistaken? There is no code involved that I know of, and besides, the car I’m after is the '16 MX-5 which was in the MX-5 Pack which was free for everyone, it was just a promotion for the then new MX-5. The car is in FH3/4/5, but it would have been nice to have it in FH2 as it has better sounds for four cylinders. Oh well, it is what it is.
As for the licenses, I get that that is a thing that leads to games being pulled from the online stores, but that in itself is silly, because while Ferrari might not sell more cars by being in these videogames, and it can be a selling point for the developer to have Ferraris in their game, in the end it is still free promotion and as long as the cars are done right, I think asking for licenses is greedy, and having them expire is just silly.
I think expiring licenses is a convenient way for the game industry to pull old games and “force” you to buy the newest version.
im playing all horizon games on xbox except horizon 1.im playing fh1 on xenia emulator and managed the retrieve dlc content via youtube.but fh2 and 3 are a lost cause.as far as i know only solution is getting a gold or whatever it was called back then edition of the physical copy.so you can acces that content.but if im not wrong you cant get the free dlc`s anymore.
Yeah, it is what it is. I uninstalled FH2 now, not enough cars, and FH3 and FH4 are just as fun. Actually, playing FH2 makes me worse at the other games, because the map doesn’t punish my sloppy driving. It was fun, because I could drive like I was used to growing up playing NFS III and Mario Kart on SNES/N64, but that type of driving doesn’t work in the later games, especially in FH4 with obstacles (stone walls, fences) so close to the road that slow you down when you hit them.
