This is from REDDIT:
A few notes before we begin. I’ve worked on probably 50 mobile games in my time as a consultant. I believe there is a world of difference between microtransactions in a free game and in a game you pay anywhere from $60-100 upfront for, but I understand there are people who hate them no matter what and I’m not here to defend that. I also live 15 minutes from Turn 10 and know some of the team members personally, and every single one I’ve met has been a genuine and enthusiastic car fanatic so I believe they all honestly wanted to make a fun driving sim and just got caught up in the latest fad to make more money.
Read this on Reddit:
"Now let’s dive in. A few years back when microtransactions were starting to be popular, console games tried throwing free to play (F2P) mechanics from mobile games in on top of their existing games, and it didn’t work out as well as they hoped. As it turns out, if you are going to put microtransactions in a game, the ENTIRE game needs to be designed around that. Forza 7 was their chance to design a game from the ground up around people buying loot boxes, and they took full advantage of it. Let’s go through some of the most popular criticisms, and we can decide if they made those changes to make the game more fun, or if they made them to get people to buy more loot boxes. The first rule of microtransactions is you need to create artificial scarcity of resources. So whenever there’s a change made to make credits or cars more difficult to get, it was made for loot boxes.
VIP 2x Credit is now consumable instead of permanent - the most obvious design change to get people to buy loot boxes
Collection system - you need more cars to drive the cool stuff. What’s the easiest way to get new cars? Loot boxes.
Cars all cost more money - creating artificial scarcity. Loot boxes.
Homologation rules - you can make an argument this was done to make multiplayer more fair. I agree that was a partial reason, but I also think it was done to force people to buy more cars (loot boxes) that qualify in more races. Previously you could upgrade your starter car fairly cheaply and run it in all sorts of series.
No more assist bonuses - more credit scarcity. Loot boxes.
Weird AI - no idea here. I don’t think this was a microtransaction change.
No Upgrades - they want you to have to buy more cars which cost credits which…you can see where this is going.
So we can see almost every major change was made to increase scarcity to promote loot boxes. Seriously, go through the changes in the game and just ask if they made that change to make the game more fun, or if they made it to potentially sell more loot boxes. The unfortunate news is I believe this will be impossible to fix. As I said before, they needed a clean slate to make all these changes and the free to play hooks are EVERYWHERE in the game. I believe taking them all out will not only be impossible, but probably something they don’t want to do. Even if 90% of their audience hates it, the 10% of whales that will spend on loot boxes will more than make up for the lost revenue.
I hope this helps some people understand what’s going on and the changes they made. I believe there is a wonderful driving game underneath all this, that looks and sounds unlike anything else on the market. But the barriers to get to that are simply too high. Feel free to ask if you have any more questions!"

First of all i LOVE the forza series and care for it, and this is not the right way to go.
I dont think they realizing that they are destroying their own games series and they are losing eventually any new buyers. so Turn 10 Prove me wrong and show us this is not true.
Add a F2P mechanic, rework the underlying mechanics of the game to try to encourage players to pay to get something faster (because the underlying mechanics now make everything so grindy and so time consuming), players who then pay for it are literally paying extra to not play the game because it’s not fun or rewarding anymore.
never any real need to use micro transaction unless you choose to
you can earn enough credits just by playing to buy the loot crates and everything else
Hardcore grinding? I’ve played a short time. Maybe 10 minutes Thursday, a half hour on Friday, and probably four hours yesterday. I’m already up to collector tier 4 and have won cars in loot crates that I wouldn’t otherwise afford.
I want to be rewarded with credits for winning races etc. Not interested in random chance BS. Using my credits to buy unknown contents in a box like a freaking game show GTFO
I used all my time on last holiday on grinding. And now I’m on Tier 7 with 4 millions.
About the crate, you was lucky. I opened the legendary one and got tier 3 car that I don’t want.
That’s why if you want cars that only exist in Loot Crate. Grind so hard, or pay a token (if it will be use for loot crate).
Not all people gonna lucky like you.
Unfortunately for all the good Microsoft does for gaming it’s all but erased by these practices. Stuff like this ruins games period and any game they make incorporates it. You don’t have to do it is an old tired argument ever since it was first made in defense of this kind of garbage. This will be my last gold edition of a Forza game if this is how VIP is going to be now. I’ll get the base game on a digital sale from now on like I do the rest of Microsoft’s games.
I dont begrudge T10 trying to make extra $$ as they are a business and I believe the $60 pricepoint is too low for videogames. There is lot of money to be had in videogame in-app purchases, billions, and I think T10 wants a piece of that pie. I know I would.
I just wish they would go about it in a different way. All tokens do is sell you back your own free time, grind or play. That’s not a choice I want to make with my free time.
Let them sell drivers suits and whatever else directly for money, strictly cosmetic stuff that is extra and has no bearing on gameplay.
Totally agree.
I was grinding to unlock my favorite Ford GT 2017 yesterday. And today my right arm hurt every times I move it.
And if I want to unlock Forza Edition which can only find from the crate, I need to change my arm to robotic one, right?
This is not fun anymore. I don’t like their way to forcing people to buy tokens.
I’ve actually gotten tendinitis in my right elbow as a result of playing racing games on a controller for over 2 decades! right trigger for throttle I also lift weights, so my elbow doesn’t get enough rest I suppose.
I know this is OT, but you can switch brake/throttle to the right analog stick. You’d be putting a cap on your fun factor for sure, but it’ll save the joints in your right arm and shoulder!
The thing with all of this is that FM6 actually looks better, has a decent complement of cars, and is, by all accounts, actually a more modern game. I mean, honestly, this game has some extra iterations of cars and 4 new courses, all of which look like poo. I looked at a rival today and saw '90 and '94 MX-5’s topping the leaderboard. THAT’S THE SAME CAR! Both NA first gen Miata’s, made until '97ish? I mean…honestly…how much new content is there, really? And then take into account the lacking aspects of the graphics, leaderboards, economy, etc?
I think it’s great to see these posts coming from folks who have 17k+ Forza scores. I don’t want to incinuate the bigger that number the more valid the complaint only that long time fans are equally frustrated as those picking up Forza for the first time. Here’s a question for you, do you still have your 360 connected and ready to play? If so load up FM4 and do a race on Maple Valley. Then load up FM7 and do the same thing. Anything that isn’t on the track looks like it was created using assets from the PS2/OG Xbox era. Tree quality is equal to Call of Duty 1. It’s obvious Maple Valley’s quality is bad but I didn’t realize just how bad until I did a direct comparison.
If they put an extra part that won’t effect the car performance, but make my car look cools, and require the real world money.
Yeah, I’m gonna buy it. Since I once did it in many games in the past (TF2, CS:GO, ETC).
But, for unlocking the cars I want, or else, grinding? Nah.
Last year I said Forza 6 was gonna be my last Motorsport and Im a man of my word.
If you guys think your feedback here really works you need a doctor.
Every year we get the same speech at E3 and awkward guest “driving” on stage and more stupid money grabbing microtransaction added to the game, but they make the game “for pure passion for cars and car enthusiasts”.
