FOV settings.. horizontal or vertical?

I searched and can’t find a definitive answer to this question. I’ve been messing with fov calculators online and want to get the cockpit view right, but those give two values, vertical and horizontal. And the game doesn’t specify

Honestly, just leave it at the default value. I think it’s just about perfect. unless you want to sit 2 feet away from a large screen.
