Forza will not launch - just a black logo window, then its gone

This is weird, everything installs OK. Click the Forza icon to launch the app, a black logo window appears for a moment, and then just disappears.

No video, No pitures, No sounds, No Menu, No nothing.

Sound Devices

Description: Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)
Default Sound Playback: Yes
Default Voice Playback: Yes

  1. You run a Win10 preview version, maybe that’s the problem.
    Required is 64-Bit Windows 10 (v. 1511) which is build 10586.

  2. Your CPU is almost 8 years old, and … let’s say … not the hottest thing around.

The minimum is a Intel Core i3-4170 @4(2) x 3,7 GHz.
Your Q8200 is 4x 2,3 GHz.

Compared via benchmark you see there’s a big difference …
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core2-Quad-Q8200-vs-Intel-Core-i3-4170

I can’t tell you if your Win10 preview version is one of the problems, but maybe you try it with a quick install of build 10586.
But your CPU on the other hand, will be a problem, since according to other posts on the forums even people with an Intel 2600k + GeForce 980Ti having CPU proplems.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core2-Quad-Q8200-vs-Intel-Core-i7-2600K

  1. And maybe try the older version of your GPU driver …
    http://support.amd.com/en-us/kb-articles/Pages/AMD-Radeon-Software-Crimson-Edition-16.5.1.aspx

But this can also be related to your Win10 preview .

Good luck ^^

Thanks for the reply. Probably a Windows Insider Preview thing causing this, but what’s really frustrating is Forza just crashing out without any error message or help.

I know I’m asking for a lot, but it would be nice if instead of crashing out with no message whatesoever, it said something like;

  • CPU does not meet minimum spec
  • Windows Insider Preview not supported
  • Graphics Drivers failed for XXX reason.

Any message at all would be more helpful than nothing.

R.

You have an 8 year old CPU that’s half the speed of current CPU’s and is more than half slower due to not having any of the newer enhancements the more recent CPU’s have. It’s your CPU. It’s so far below minimum i’m surprised you expect it to run. You really need to upgrade it. I’ve just built a new skylake rig and it flies along. You really need to upgrade.

Turns out it’s not my CPU afterall! Forza Apex runs just fine with an old CPU, just as long as you have a beefy GPU alongside it.

I have the same problem, just better cpu… Someone know how to fix for nvidia gpu?
