Forza Photomode Details?

So that was what I thought as well. Until I did some tests with an open car - the Alfa Romeo Spider. I wanted to make some photos from a track, but it was clear that the interior was a LOD’d version of it and not the same you’d get in Forza Vista. That was my point above =).

T10 should be focusing more on photmode. The mode Is a community of its own. Although, I have burnt myself out of the photo mode and Forza in general. I do think it needs a fresh look at how this mode is implemented.

Does anyone know what Bleuprint is up to? He has that community photo position from like 4 or 5 years ago. Still jellous that I wasn’t old enough to accept the offer at the time. Lol

I agree Wonderpill, as photo mode is also my primary reason for buying Forza. I would still be content with the Photo Mode staying the same as I can work with it to still create stunning images, however, I would love to see it improved. Especially with Aperture and DOF. They could make it way more realistic and they could really expand on the Photo Mode in many areas to make it a lot better. How about increasing the Zoom level, increasing the height and distance limits, or offering a Big Shot option, such as in FM4. I don’t paint or tune, but I feel they can improve both of those areas a lot. Those two sections have also been pretty much the same since FM3. You’d think with the new console being out for 2 years, they could improve on it. We’ll just wait and see.

Well I would expect we will at least see the reset damage option implemented…fingers crossed

Well, with your driving Windswept, that’s a mandatory requirement! lol

Wonder pill - it’s a good idea and fits in well with Turn 10 corporate philosophy… Turn photographers into gamers into car lovers…

Why not, if there is a chance to expand their audience

Its not just a philosophy… It is proven that Forza makes people into better photographers.

I was mediocre… Now I would consider my stuff amazing. I credit most of it to Forza, giving me a chance to have billions of Dollars to spend, exotic locations, and amazing subjects… in the game of course, (and a sweet DSLR in Real life), which only is $60 for each installment sans DLC.

I can’t buy a used 50mm lens for $60, and expect to take pictures with it.

I buy forza every year, based on this.

I have loved cars since I was able to crawl.

I have loved photography since I found the Polaroid in the Hutch in the dining room.

I have Loved video games since the first time I got to play Astrosmash on my Intellivision.

All these things combined, lead me down the only path that I have repeated 7 times, and expect to enjoy the 8th… Forza.

Bleeding heart stuff out of the way.

Gimme Details. NAAAOOOOWWWW

please.

Not completely true. After playing forza you couldn’t go and use DSLR in manual mode and know how to take a photo properly. Sure you can take better photos in game but not in the real world. The camera settings don’t transfer over the same way

You have approximately 15 days to convince me to buy this game as a pre-order.

I plan to purchase the Ultimate Edition, digitally.

The ONLY reason I have for purchasing this game is photography.

Please, can we have some details on UGC, and photomode.

I need a reason to turn my Xbox One on again.

The camera has VERY little to do with the photograph.

You can definitely IMPROVE ALL PHOTOS, by starting with better equipment.

I can teach a course to my 5 year old niece all about Manual settings, and ISO, but I cannot explain composure. Nobody can explain to you HOW to catch the eye of viewers in a photo.

You must learn this on your own. Develop your own feel to expend. If you copy someone else on HOW to compose your shots, and how to refine them, your stuff will look like their stuff.

Forza affords players the ideal conditions, and shows you how to recognize them. Having a lugnut outside the frame of a picture COULD ruin the over all feel, Forza gives you the ability to adjust that.

I could care less if it transfers over to a DSLR. The camera is a tool, not the photographer. Forza does not make the camera better.

The equipment holding the camera’s just as important as the camera itself

If you’ve got good compositional skills you can get great photos even with a low-end camera, or even a phone.

I’m no expert but I did manage to get some good pics with my iPhone at this year’s 6 Hours of Silverstone.

Compositional skills are universal and can be used or learned in Forza as well.

^I agree with the two posts above. I recently made the jump to a real DSLR after 5-ish years of forzatography, and I would say that my experience helped with the non-setting things, like angles, using the sun to your advantage, composure, how to make things interesting etc.

Sure, I would love for the settings to be universal across the two, but it’s the accessibility issue. If its difficult, how will guys that just paint, or just drift with no camera experience, take decent photos and share their stuff? I like the idea of an advanced mode though.

I agree, that YES, PRO-LEVEL photography is difficult to wrap your head around. Turn 10 barely understands how to use the cameras that they use to capture all the detail in the assets they have.

It is so difficult to understand, that the market for guides and books about photography, tend to be the most expensive books you can buy.

The level of learning required to understand basic operation of a DSLR, is straight forward. You aim the glassy part at your subject and look at it through a smaller glass part… half press the shutter button to get your focus, and then exhale and press the button all the way in.

Getting off of the AUTOMATIC setting that Forza offers as presets, you now have a bunch of bars that make NO SENSE to anyone unfamiliar with photo modes. These are the same words that are used to operate a DSLR on Program mode.

When I think of how daunting it is to paint the cars in Forza, I mentally picture the frustration that people with big dreams, to make some amazing paint jobs, running into a SUPER STEEP learning curve, and yet still manage to keep trying. They learn from each other, growing the numbers of EXCELLENT painters, creating works of art that everyone wants to get their hands on.

When I think about the only thing preventing people from taking amazing pictures, not just good photos, but ARTISTIC works, that people want as their wallpapers, or even hang on the wall in the garage, is the ability to see through the Jargon.

Its all Jargon. ISO… its not even an acronym. It simply means ISO. I really don’t see ISO even a necessity since it is already digital.

Forza is the perfect stage for so many things. The photo mode is by far the MOST tangible skill set that EVERYONE can take away from the game.

Are there any other games you can honestly say made you a better human being? Rocksmith? maybe. Donkey Konga? probably. Street Fighter 2? Most definitely…

Without Street Fighter 2, an entire Genre would not even exist.

Rocksmith is so Niche that most people don’t even know it exists, or care.

Forza… Who doesn’t know about Forza? My Grandma even knows about it… When I got a Gigantic box, mailed to her house, she found out about Forza. My ex-girlfriends have all played the game. Took pictures, made paints, one of them even won a photo competition here.

She watched me taking pictures, and thought it actually looked fun. She even wasted an entire weekend painting cars for the Auction House, so she could afford better cars to paint and take pictures of.

The whole thing is right there, but it has always been on the EASY side of the photo fence. Adding a little more reward, from having more dials to understand, takes it from just something to share, to something that you actually plan ahead to do.

I make the effort to plan out a photo shoot when I play Forza. everything from the colors scheme of the car vs. the area, to the most authentic looking wheel sizes and tire type.

I could go on, But there are others like me, and they are sad too.

GTA Vs iFruit Camera was good…

I agree that the Photo mode in GTA V is excellent… Though the final image quality is horrid.

I managed to take some really great composed shots, but they feel more like a story board image, than art.

Maybe I will pick up GTA again for PC, with all the graphics mods, I would assume that getting a better resolution out of it, is only a few clicks away.

I did some edits of the photos from the GOLD story.

for the size they are, the photos have some decent quality, but if this is the only size that is available, I am going to have some issues doing what I want.

For fun, here are the edits.

This photo alone has me sold on the game… Nurburgring in the rain… Absolutely stoked. I have done a minor edit to the photo, and the color depth seems to track VERY well. Even for a resized Jpeg, the quality is decent.

Fingers crossed that the final image size is larger in game, but these results are Mediocre, in terms of photography.

For reference, I do all my editing on a 4K monitor, and these photos are TINY.

^Yup, I’m excited! Really digging the edit of the pits, that’s incredible

Wonder, I’m right there with you. As someone who’s been doing “pro” photography on and off track, it’s been a nightmare trying to work Forza’s Photomode. I still have a torrented version of pCars on my HDD on pc, just so I can take photos. I bought a PS3 a while back just for GT5, and I may buy another (because I sold it) to get GT6, just for the photomode. I’ve heard driveclub’s photomode is great and all, but the game looks like it kinda blows. Other things I’d like forza to get right is the lighting. It seems like that’s where the game goes sour when looking at a real photo versus a game. Here’s a few images of what I’m talking about.

Project Cars (Ultra Settings, 4k, small LR edit)

Forza 5 (Untouched)

Forza Horizon 2 (Untouched)

Gran Turismo 5 (untouched)

Although, one thing I am looking forward to, night at nurburg… again, from project cars, but it’s gonna be dope.
