Forza Motorsport 7 Features Wish Lists

I have only a couple of suggestions…

  1. Can we please have an option to buy DLC tracks independently of car packs. I’ve missed out on two new tracks because I never buy car packs. They just don’t interest me tbh and there’s no way I’m paying £15.99 for, what for me, would be 1 track. Even £8.00 for one track, when they have been on sale is a little too much. £5 for one track is reasonable IMO. Some of us are not interested in car packs. Have your £15.99 Nascar/Porsche dlc packs…that’s fine…but at least give those who are not interested in Single player career modes or extra cars the option to buy the tracks separately.

  2. Back in the day there was a game mode on one of the PGR’s called Capture the track/Team capture the track where you/or your team got points for getting the fastest sector times on each lap. It was great fun and it would be great to see it in Forza 7.

Customising and Tuning for drifters

• Customisable boost pressure (turbo size dictates maximum boost pressure)… Better external waste gate audio wouldn’t go a stray either :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

• Customisable maximum steering angle and Ackerman angle in the alignment menu

• After Market steering wheels (Nardi, Personal, Spats, Italvolanti etc etc)

• After market exhausts (tips/ rear mufflers)

• A more comprehensive bodykits selection. Origin labo body kits have been in the game for a long time yet only their most out dated kits are used and none of their bonnets are featured in game. Stream line, race line and the newly released Attack line kits would be great along with wide body fenders.
Other body kit manufacturers would also be good to mix up the car builds a bit… Dmax cough GP sports cough :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

. An updated car list with cars of interest instead of cars people hardly use. The import car selection has been lacking in the last few Forza games imo. If cars like Type X 180sx, s14 Silvia, C33 Laurel, A31 Cefiro, JZX80,90 and 100 Toyota Chaser would add some much needed diversity to the drifting community with in Forza Motorsport.

• Unicorn cars (self explanatory)

• A more in depth career mode + Unlockable cars. Forza is slowly becoming the COD of the racing genre. Barely any real content as far as single player offline is concerned. Having 500000 races in career mode with out any depth or reason draw you in and keep you coming back doesn’t cut it. Make people have to earn and unlock certain tracks and cars instead of handing it to them in a bundle in exchange for more money ontop of the price of the game… “Want the best car in the game? Here it’s just one easy transaction away” things like the HKS skyline and 180sx, GTone and pikes peak Escudo from Gran Turismo 2 come to mind… Not quiet as rare as unicorn cars but you still had to earn them.

• The addition of Drift events to Career mode with set layouts and preset criteria to score higher like clipping points/zones and score increase with speed and line. *pet peeve is seeing someone online score a huge drift score while driving in a way that no one would at an actual track/drift day.

• more value for long time forza fans/members. I’ve been playing since the 1st game on the original console and the amount of money you now have to spend on the new game+VIPembership+season pass+$30expansion number 1+$30 expansion number 2+car packs the season pass didn’t cover is pretty damn excessive.

• Tracks… Please, for the love of God, bring Fujimi Kaido back and consider some more renowned japanese short course/drifting tracks (Maze, Nikko, Ebisu, Meihan and Bihoku) I think people jumping ship to PC with assetto corsa for this kind of content with their Mod community would be slightly less likely if this kind of content was avalible in something like forza.

Side note/rant, I miss the feel of the first 4 games. They really seemd like they were aimed at real every day car enthusiasts. FM4 was the end of a forza era for me and I feel like a lot of other people. 5 and 6 seem To have lost that feeling along the way. And Horizon seems like a more Disney-ish version of NFS 2k15 and I think the physics engine should not differ between forza Motorsport and Horizon.

Since it’s now been brought up. I was wondering how long it would take.

Get rid of the Unicorn Car concept. Either that, or add the cars to the game for everyone months later, or release them as a car pack.

An Odometer would be a welcome addition to the HUD.

It would be good then to see the car I’m driving’s total mileage. It should be easy to do because the total mileage can be found in each car’s stats however it would be handy to see during races.

I absolutely agree with this! I also would like to be able to see the miles (or kilometers for metric unit users) rack up while I’m driving. GRID Autosport, Gran Turismo 6 and a few others show your car’s odometer reading in the HUD, so there’s no reason why this can’t be done in FM7.

Okay, here we go. We’ll see if any of these will be in Forza Motorsport 7.

(sorry for any spelling errors)

  1. Realistic transmissions
  • Automatic cars should have realistic automatic (option)
  1. Realistic degrees for steering wheels in cars
  • In Forza 6, car steering wheel turns 180 degrees, looks bad and feels unrealistic.
  • So realistic steering wheel degrees for cars (option?)
  1. Realistic degrees for front wheels in cars
  1. Menu stuff
  • Engine displacement info, where did that go?
  • Better garage and car buy menu sorting. Sort by value, sort by power, sort by torque, sort by weight… etc (C’mon, Forza 4 did have this)
  • Get rid of that tile menu layout if possible, it’s bad.
  1. Cars
  • Options for different interior trims for new cars
  • More selectable OEM wheels for new cars
  • Possibility to remove spoiler from ANY car (example: Jaguar XKR-S GT)
  • Lower-end bumpers (Thank you, some cars have these already in Forza 6, keep going)
  • Lower-end engine swaps
  • Possibility to put smaller wheels if not too large brakes.
  • Adjustable wheel offset
  • Exhaust upgrade → Visual exhaust changes
  • More unique body upgrades for cars
  • As realistic car sounds as possible, also when upgrading
  • More realistic fuel usage? (If I know right, it’s same for every car now?)
  • More lower-end vehicles
  1. Career
  • Get rid of Drivatar and give us back that great AI with realistic names
  • Championships with points and leaderboards etc
  • Harder economy with less money. Harder to get new cars (this should be option ofcourse)
  • Option to choose what class races you want to race, how long they are etc.
  1. Photo mode
  • Option to hide driver
  1. Other stuff
  • More settings for controller (sensitivy, possibility to remove steering restriction when turning full at high speed etc) ( Steering restriction with controller - Forza 6 - YouTube )
  • Free races/championships with option to select cars for AI
  • Option to force AI driving stock cars
  • Odometer
  • Gameplay hour counter
  • Km/h with hp etc
  • Forza 4 style auction house
  1. Keep good stuff from previous Forzas, but just don’t copy-paste everything.

Great post Jim! I like all of that.

Of course I’d like to see all the drag racing stuff I’ve posted many times. Proper sized wheels and tires, big block engines, better engine selection, drag suspension and chassis upgrades, trans brakes, working tree and staging… that stuff.

I would also like to see some sort of actual career. Something to motivate me to progress and keep playing the game. Not just get to a certain point and then just build, tune and paint. I love doing those things, for sure. However, having g a “racing career” to progress would make the game much more interesting and engaging.

Along with fixed, working drag racing, I’d like to see some actual drifting, autocross. Just some of the growing and popular forms of motorsport. Keep all the circuit racing, don’t take away from that. Just add to what is in the game. No “mod cars” or other filler stuff. Put actual content in the game.

In this post I will be putting things that should be and should’ve been in Forza Motorsports. This post isn’t selfish. This is based on things I want, people on my friends list and people I’ve met online, want. I would like respectable answer, if you wanna be a [Mod Edit - Abbreviated profanity, profanity and profanity that is disguised but still alludes to the words are not permitted - D], then man’s not gonna reply to you. Now I’m not saying these must be in the game but, at least Turn10 should look at these as suggestions. I also feel they should be more engaging with we want from a racing game.
Anyways, first and foremost Forza Motorsports should be based on every aspect of racing, it’s not just as simple as slapping a car on track and doing a few laps…The list begins.

Tracks
Fujimi Kaido, (debatable since it’s a large track)
Tsukuba Circuit
Twin Ring Motegi
Fuji International Speedway
Sporstland SUGO
Tokachi International Speedway
Camino Veijo
(Feel Free to suggest more)

General Physics
Better grass physics, I’ve never seen grass pull you off a track in that way. Ever.
Better rumble strip physics. Sometimes they flip me over, dunno what the deal is there.
Better bump physics, literally the lightest tap can send your car spinning.
But don’t get me wrong, the physics are still amazing, the best I’ve tried.

List will be updated later…

Show estimated fuel range in terms of laps
Show estimated position if pit this lap

I’d like to see any future Forza titles comply with the consumer rights act 2015. Therefore ensuring that, the product is not faulty and is actually fit for purpose, which has unfortunately not been the case with previous releases.

Also, while i understand someone likes Helicopters, can we please not have them stirring up Dust Clouds on F7? It does mess with visibility at times. Sure it looks cool, but…

When can we race the Bus? I really want to race the bus.

there is alot of fun with Forza Motorsport.
But there is also things they could have done to make it even more fun!

What i feel Forza Motorsport is missing and rely need`s is a rank System.
The leveling system of today is poor and it has no point to it.
There is no skill needed for leveling in Forza Motorsport.

It would be great if they had a real Leveling system witch was based on your driving skill’s,
that will give you points when you do nice corners, clean overtakes etc.
And decrease your points when you are racing unfair.

And the game would be great if it gave you a multiplayer match up against people who can compare to your skill’s.
So we don’t face racers who is constantly ramming and racing unfair.
With a system like this Forza could be a way more interesting racing game for many people out there.

And from what i know from my own experience is that i get more eager to play a game where i get revarded with a levling system
that tells you exactly how good you are, and match makes you with people that is as good as you.
And then beat them!
that feeling is just magnificent!

but since the game doesn’t have a system like this it takes away a lot of the fun in the game and since Forza has got all the way to the 6 series
they should have been thinking of a bether system by now is what i think.

I also think that Forza Motorsport dosen’t need rally since Horizon is alredy filling that part.

Since this thread hasn’t been locked I may as well post in here too:

For the past month or so I have been thinking about the next Forza Motorsport title, playing other games and making note of various features that I would like to see in future titles.

Working in the games industry myself I am fully aware that it will not be possible to implement all of these for various reasons (budget, manpower, licensing, return on investment etc.) but I will suggest them nonetheless. Hopefully a few of these will make their way into the next title.

  • Where possible I have quoted a game (in brackets) that contains an example of such a feature, along with a link to a screenshot/footage if available.

  • Items marked in yellow are ones that are critical to my own personal future enjoyment of the Forza Motorsport franchise.

  • Each item has a [_] checkbox attached. As information about the next Forza Motorsport title becomes available I will update this list and mark off any items which are confirmed to exist in said game.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Right away, I know there are several other threads like this out there, but I feel like putting some more ideas out there. Plus, I think some of these might be good. Let me know what you think!

So I can already say, Forza Horizon 2 and Forza Horizon 3 are similar, but not the same, just like how Forza Motorsport 5 and Forza Motorsport 6 are similar, but again, not the same. So I was thinking if the game could have a newer (Or older) approach. In my opinion. Forza Motorsport 4 was (and still is to some) the best game to come out of the Forza franchise. So I’m hoping that Forza Motorsport 7 could catch some of that spirit of uniqueness.

Career
What I’m thinking of is to mix a few different styles of motorsport into the career mode. Forza Motorsport 6 did great with the showcase events. I’m hoping the showcase events and the career mode would somewhat mix together, with a little more. Along with the usual racing, I’m hoping there could be optional drift events (Get x amount of points around the track while staying within the lines, in y amount of time), Autocross events (Just like the ones in FM6), and Factory-Spec racing. Of course, endurance races wouldn’t be part of the career, they’d be in a section similar to the showcase events. There should also be some sort of penalty for cutting corners, because we all know FM6 has a huge problem with people cutting corners.
I really want features like this since Forza Horizon 3 and Forza Motorsport 6 felt a little too linear. Yes, you could do the career, but really it’s just doing the same races over and over again, but with different cars. If something along these lines were implemented, it would feel a little less repetitive.

Car Mechanics/Features
What I’m talking about here is how a car reacts to stuff in the game. Something I would really like is a menu similar to the assist menu for Simulation mode. It would have the stuff like Fuel Depletion, Tire Wear, and Damage. I’m also hoping to get stuff like Engine Heat (If the car is improperly upgraded [insufficient cooling upgrades if it’s maxed out] it would slowly start to heat up, and eventually start damaging the engine when it gets too hot), Brake Heat (Similar to Engine Heat, but occurs when the brakes don’t have time to cool down). It would be better if some cosmetic upgrades had the proper weight. For example, when you add a bumper to the car that has less parts than the original bumper, it would take off x amount of weight instead of adding weight. Fixed downforce would be applied to spoilers or splitters that can’t be adjusted, so it would still at least generate some downforce.

Tracks & Cars
The part you’ve all been waiting for. I’m hoping we could have some of the really good tracks from FM4 (Like Fujimi Kaido, Camino Viejo De Montserrat, Iberian International Circuit, Mugello Autodromo Internazionale, Rally Di Positano, Sedona Raceway Park, and Suzuka Circuit). I’m also hoping for some unique, odd, and retro cars that Forza Motorsport 4, Forza Motorsport 6, and Forza Horizon 3 have.

So that’s it, I guess. Anything you guys want to add?

Career:
-Structure similar to that of FM3 and FM4. Use this opportunity to highlight certain brands, models, countries, decades, famous rivalries, etc.
–If the above is a no-go, then GIVE EVERY CAR A DIVISION. Or at a minimum bring back the Class Competitions, so every car can be used and not have 100+ cars with no division and no place to race
-Have us move on in the event regardless of finish position of last race
-Offroad races; use the Trophy Trucks and Rally Cars from FH3 and earlier as a start
-Optional Qualifying and Practice Sessions, with each allowing tuning to be done during the event
-Slider for race length. For example, all the way left for the shortest, all the way right for the longest
-Let us race cars stock or upgraded, and not be forced to do one or the other, save for special cases
-If we so choose to upgrade, have Drivatar’s PI match ours (like FH3)
-Start us off in cheap, low-powered cars and have us work our way up. Like…you know…FM1…FM2…FM3…FM4…

Cars:
-Ability to twincharge engines
-Ability to upgrade supercharger and turbocharger on twincharged engines
-Adjustable boost pressure
-A “Works” program, similar to that of Shift 2 Unleashed, where you could make your car fully caged, gutted, race-prepped, etc. Make virtually any car a race car, competing in proper divisions
-More vehicle customization and tuning options, like negative camber, spacers, interior gauges, designs on windows, etc.
-Higher horsepower capability (four figures) for certain cars/engines, mainly notable ones such as the 2JZ-GTE, RB26DETT, 4G63T, LS#, Gallardo, R8, etc.
-Crate engine swaps (LSX 454R, 5.0 Cammer, etc.)
-Rotary engine swaps (mainly like 3-, 4-, 6-Rotor engines for Mazda RX-# cars, but other cars work too)
-The inability to shove a V12 in every other car
-Higher speed limits, aka, not have everyone topping out at 275mph. Let me break 300! No sense in hyping up the One:1’s top speed if we can’t even reach it in game
-KERS and DRS available on race cars that have it
-Have race cars with electric motors be able to use them in addition to the internal combustion ones, like the Toyota TS040 and Nissan GT-R LM Nismo

Multiplayer:
-CPLs
-Cat and Mouse return
-Car Football return (ban very large vehicles from participation…looking at you, Gurkha)
-Infected on more than just the Airfield Track
-More/Harsher penalties for those that don’t race clean/follow proper etiquette (ramming, corner-cutting, blocking path, etc.)
-Remove corner-cutting opportunities from Yas Marina or just take it out of the rotation
-Some sort of driving program where players have to successfully pass each stage in order to race progressively more powerful cars online
-Have players 1+ laps down from you be ghosted

In General:
-Better/more realistic vehicle sounds
-Better supercharger and turbocharger sounds
-Exhaust upgrades making notable sound changes (like FM2)
-Auction House
–Auction House freedom. Let us set whatever prices we want, not based off of in-game ratings like FH3
-Storefront (LIKE FM3 AND FM4, NOT LIKE FH3).
-Remove Sharefront idea. Just give us back the FM3/FM4 style Storefront, basically
-Remove the rubber-banding. If I want to have a three mile lead on 2nd, I want a three mile lead. If I want a close race, I want a close race
-More consistency of difficulties. Players on New Racer should be able to win easily; players on Unbeatable should be struggling to even podium, let alone win
-Notable in-game recognition of skilled players (OVERALL LBs, such as for Tuning, Painting, Photographing, Time Played, Races Won, etc.)
-Gifting of cars and credits between players
-Allow tuners and/or painters to collab/work together effectively
-The return of F-Class
-Buy Cars and My Cars menu using FM4’s and earlier style of menus
-Dynamic Day/Night. I understand the inability of doing weather this way
-View tunes and designs like FM3 and FM4, aka, you don’t need to be in a specific car to find designs and tunes for that specific car
-Ultimate Edition has EVERYTHING
-Car Pass has ALL monthly DLC packs in it. This one and the above are to help with annoyances on both the community side and developer side
-Adjustable TCS, ABS, and STM
-Increased Garage, Tune, and Design Limits. Have at least one spot of each for each and every car in the game, including all planned DLC
-More dedicated options for Drag Racers and Drifters
-Better Affinity rewards. In addition to CR bonuses, things like free/cheaper parts, free/cheaper cars, perhaps exclusive cars? (Level 25 with Lamborghini = Lamborghini Sesto Elemento for example)
-Paddles and shifters to move on Manual- or DCT-equipped cars

I’m sure I’ll think of more some other time. For now, that’ll do pig. That’ll do.

Before I start, GREAT job with Forza 6. A lot of my little remaining nitpicks with Forza 6 have been fixed in Forza Horizon 3, and a lot of the nitpicks I had with Forza 5 were fixed in Forza 6, so I applaud the work you guys are doing! I have been playing since FM1, virtually never play online, just on my own or with friends that are physically over at my place.

Here are some things that would make me even more excited that I hope you’d look into for Forza Motorsport 7! Hopefully i’m not too late:

SOUND

For me, car sound accuracy is my #1 favourite thing about Forza. I feel you guys have really nailed things in FH3 nicely and pretty good in FM6 too. Keep pushing the envelope for really accurate car engine sounds! I know i’m not the only one.

  • There is a little bit of room left for improvement on the overrun/cackling/pop sounds on cars - the pops could sound better, and in certain cases the overrun burble/cackling as well could be a bit louder/sharper
  • Audio sliders for tire, environment, race music, menu music, engine sounds, collisions etc as in previous Forza titles (FH3’s improvement on this is a good start!)
  • More drastic difference in stock exhaust note VS. race/straight pipes (most cars are rather quiet stock), same idea with supercharger whine, turbo sounds etc
  • Much more intense wind noise as speeds get really high - perhaps only in cockpit view, or as an option?

2-PLAYER SPLIT SCREEN

  • 2-player split screen - guest access to host garage
  • 2-player split screen replays would be nice
  • 2-player split screen access to drag racing each other (the 1/4, 1/2 mile tracks disappear and are not selectable)

DRAG RACING

  • Display the ET @ MPH right after a drag race completes or running the strip on any drag course
  • Working staging tree/lights, or, don’t start the ET timer until the driver actually goes when ready
  • Rather than immediately exiting back to the Home menu, there should be a “Restart”, “Quit” etc menu right after the drag race so it can be quickly re-run several times in a row

HUD/GAUGES

  • Mixed HUD option - km/h and hp
  • I suggest a new option to bring back the HUD analog dial boost gauge (PSI or Bar option - like in Forza 2)
  • Add a camera view or option for the old-school dual gauges view from Forza 2 (both full needle speedo & RPM tach visible, lower-centre screen). There is something more desirable about the analog speedometer maxing out than just a digital speed readout (“burying the needle”)!
  • In the standard bumper view, I prefer the full needle and it’s circular mounting point with the RPM gauge, with clear RPM lines VS. where only the tip of the RPM needle shows and the centre of the gauge shows the gear, speed etc + no clear RPM points (this was partially addressed in FH3, the gauge looks better)
  • Some similar opinions on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/forza/comments/3jfbfn/in_my_opinion_the_analogue_speedometer_needs_to/
  • Ability to adjust head/camera placement in the in-car view (to get the camera closer to the gauges/dashboard for example)

MISC

  • More tire smoke should stick around in the air longer when drifting
  • Ability to select specific cars, including from your garage, for AI opponents in Free Play
  • When browsing cars, use the FH3 horizontal side-scrolling, NOT the FM6 vertical car list views
  • When browsing cars, have engine # of cylinders, displacement, and aspiration show in the specs…perhaps even the 1/4 mile & 0-60 time
  • More garage sorting and filtering options
  • More rims/wheels to choose from
  • Add option when finishing a career race to “Change Car” right there and continue to the next race
  • “MMMappy Charleo” mentioned this and I agree - make the car classes F to U for road and street cars, and R4 to R1 (or X) for race cars
  • Make actual finish line or finish banner much more visible
  • More visible split times

YOU KNOW WHAT WOULD BE COOL!

  • Adding an anti-lag/2-step upgrade option! Complete with flames/backfiring! Or, launch control with a variable RPM
  • Ability to select different blow off valves with different sound characteristics for turbo cars
  • Ability to install external wastegate “dump” pipes, AKA “screamer pipes” for fun (for turbo cars when in boost)
  • Being able to also see the computed 1/4 mile time (ET @ MPH) in the Tuning menus for cars (as it has the 0-60, 0-100 etc)

IN MY PERSONAL, DEBATABLE, OPINION…

  • “Mods” concept can be removed
  • Return to AI opponents instead of Drivatars
  • Different/less intense march-ish music prior to race start (rest of the menu music in FM6 is excellent)

Rolling time of day with 24 hour day/night cycle - would be fun to do Daytona and Le Mans races from sunrise to sunset

More weather options - cloudy, partly cloudy, fog, light rain, heavy rain, snow

More tracks with weather options including fantasy tracks

More tracks with night racing

Blueprint feature from Horizon 3 imported into career mode - would make the career mode more dynamic and customizable

Bring forzathon from Horizon 3 - better way to get unicorn cars than in Motorsport 6

More options in freeplay - give ability to choose drivatars cars, as well as have drivatars auto upgrade in freeplay just like in career mode

Separate car groups - split gt racing into gtlm, gte/gt3 and prototypes into lmp1/lmp2 and daytona prototypes

Add option of tire manufacturers - since the NASCAR expansion pack had Goodyear tires and Horizon 3 had option on some cars to have race tire compound with writing on tire wall, getting real tire manufacturers such as Michelin, Goodyear, and Pirelli for more cars would be great

Make career mode more like Forza Motorsport 4 with events list that feature specific manufacturer or car brands like Corvette or Ferrari

Keep older model variant of cars - keep dodge charger srt8 that does not look the same compare to the new dodge charger as well as keep or bring back cars like the 2012 Camaro ZL1

Keep race cars from previous games - it be nice to keep race cars from drivers who retired such as in Nascar or manufacturers that stop racing in series such as V8 Supercars

More accurate engine noise - Forza Horizon 3 had alot of inaccurate engine noises for cars that in previous Forza games sounded like their real life counterparts, which affects the authenticity of vehicles in the game
