Forza Motorsport 6: Apex quick facts and FAQ

APEX FAQ: PERFORMANCE INDEX AND CLASSES

Performance Index and Classes
In FM6 each car is given a PI number (described in the quote below) from 100 to 999 which changes when upgrade parts are installed. PI ranges are grouped into ten classes (E, D, C, B, A, S, R, P, X) which group cars of similar performance levels together for racing events. However, the PI number is a single assessment of the car’s lap time around a virtual test track (see description below) and do not indicate guaranteed performance on every track. Additionally each car has a rating for Speed, Handling, Acceleration, Launch (added back in for Apex having been left out of FM6) and Braking are shown from 3.0 (slowest/weakest) to 10.0 (fastest, strongest).

The PI numbers for cars in Apex have been adjusted compared to the same cars in Forza Motorsport 6 due to track selection. In most cases the PI has gone up while the performance ratings have remained the same. In Apex’s roster the lowest PI car is the 1965 Ford Mustang GT Coupe at C451 up to P997 for the 2014 Audi #2 R18 e-tron. Apex does not feature upgrade parts as in FM6 so these PI numbers cannot be changed, but the cars can be tuned for gearing, suspension, braking, differential, and aero.

How is a car’s Performance Index (PI) calculated? How realistic are the driving characteristics?
